I hated the ship parts of AC3 (well I hated AC3 full stop) but I love the ship parts in AC4, I don't understand why.

Really? Huh. Are the controls better or something? Because that was my issue with AC3 - actually controlling the boat felt like I was trying to steer a drunk elephant on ice skates.

Probably will end up skipping this one as well. Not seeing a reason to return to the series.

If they're concerned or wary about including a female PC in a mainline game, maybe they can try out a Dual POV for the game and just switch between two main characters.

This. Ubisoft is a big company, i don't get why they can't do this instead.

They should do china if they are looking to cover any sort of ancient territory.

Yup. Shao Jun would've be the perfect female protagonist. I really hope this is test and not the final game because ugh. So tired of ACs lately, except Liberation because yay Aveline and AC4 because even though it didn't felt like AC, i like pirates and sea. :P

I don't know why either.  They could do it if they really wanted to.

I thought that AC4 was a great game, the whole Caribbean experience was pure escapism for me.  I have to admit that I am a bit unsure about the French Revolution.   I mean, I'm sure Paris would look beautiful but it's not exciting me at the moment.

The thing about Paris is that it strongly reminds me of Italy from Assassins Creed 2 ( considered to be the best game in the series ), this both works in ACU's favour ( similar architecture and set pieces ) and against it ( I already feel as if I have been there and done that ).

It is also worth noting that Ubisoft seem to be planning to release 2 Assassins Creed games this year, one for 360/PS3 and another for the next/current generation ( Xbox One and PS4 ). I don't care how many development teams you have working on this franchise at one time, I still feel as if they are spreading themselves thin at least from a creative standpoint.

Having said that because there are to AC games due out this year and we have only seen the screenshots from one it is a bit to soon to rule out the possibility that one of these games may have a female lead.

Here is a small sneak peek trailer.

It's just a bit of in engine footage and a shot of the new protagonist.

Thank God I finally got my hand on my computer. Wasn't able to edit the OP properly via phone (which I posted this thread on).

I recall Ubisoft stating some month(s) ago that the next AC title would not feature a China / Japan historical setting, but they did not exclude the idea of having future installments taking place in that area.

So how long until we have an Assassin's Creed set completely modern times?

Or at the very least something set in the late 1800s - early 1900s.

I would be interested to see how the AC gameplay formula would work in a setting with modern(-ish) technology starting to crop up everywhere, replacing all of the old ways of doing things.

That's pretty much just watchdogs.

According to Ubi, plans for an AC installment during the modern times is unlikely.

Ubi isn't going to abandon their entire dude-bro fan base by putting a woman in charge.

Liberation says Hi

I would scream by simply meeting him in an AC game. Though I would only picture him as Chen Jianbin who played him in Three Kingdoms (2010)

And after Aveline, i expected another woman. Guess I was wrong to believe Ubisoft would change their ways.

Not to mention, Liberation was originally for psp, therefore didn't get much attention anyway.

and I agree, but saying they'll never do it because "dudebro's" is just....

Assassin's Creed IV was one of the best games I've ever played. Definitely looking forward to Assassin's Creed: Unity.

I find Europe boring now. Assassins Creed: Revelations and Black Flag I really liked due to its exotic setting.

So, do we know exactly what time period France this is?

The guillotine imagery in the trailer is making the Reign of Terror seem pretty likely. Which really is a pretty good setting for a more traditional AC game, IMO.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get a female protagonist down the line who ends up being this 'Eve' that's been foreshadowed since Brotherhood.

It looks quite pretty, I'll give it that, and I'd love to go to the French Revolution, but right now it just looks more like

Forrest Gump Goes Back In Time: Viva La Revolution! or something.

The pistol (looks like a modified version of the Model 1773 French Pistol) the assassin is using in the leaked images is from the French Revolution.

There also seems to be one of them false Marie Antoinette references in the Ubisoft UK video description, so there's that too.
