I wonder what this "Assassin's Creed: Comet" is going to be about though. Is it also going to be focused on the French Revolution? Or some other time period? The title "Comet" makes me think it's going to explain more about the First Civilization and what's going on in present day.

I haven't been excited by Assassin's Creed in awhile. Between the blatant milking of the franchise to the lack of proper PC ports there just really isn't anything there to look forward to. AC4 pulled the franchise back from the brink in my opinion, but it still wasn't revolutionary. They'll have to reinvent the wheel to get me excited, which I doubt they'll be able to pull off with annual releases.

It's sad too because AC1 was one of my favorite early 360 era games. It's sad to see the IP I had such high hopes for tarnished to the CoD formula.

Napoleon had a piece of eden so he was most likely a templar.

Most likely, yeah. But then again so did Washington, and he wasn't a Templar.

Looks incredible. I wonder how much this footage represents the actual game.

It was made from the engine, but it's alpha stage IIRC.

So, do we know exactly what time period France this is?

It's the French Revolution. That was determined to be one of Desmond's lines of descent in ACIV, is one of the dev's favorite time periods, and was subsequently confirmed by Ubisoft as the setting.

Personally, I'm hoping for a Connor cameo.

Is that a similar knife on the characters back as Altair had? Don't really like that, considering the setting.

They really need to do a complete overhaul of the combat system. ACIV had far and away the worst combat in the entire series, because they totally gutted what was already a relatively simplistic system, but it had the ship combat and exploration to carry it.

I thought AC4 had ok combat although it was a bit easy. My main problem with AC4 was the amount of goddamn tailing missions.

AC: Unity didn't give me a reason to care for it. Wonder if they'll actually leave in crouch run this time, couldn't tell if it was automatic or manual. Only game I could care less for atm is the next Mass Effect as I think it's time for BiowarEA to move on. Tomb Raider on the other hand caught me off guard and impressed me more than every game I looked forward to seeing (Witcher 3, DA:I, Demon's Souls 2). Witcher 3's combat looks better than previous installments but still weird and while DA:I looked great I wanted to see more, maybe I'm just ready to play it for myself. Bloodborne? . . .Where's Demon's Souls 2?

4 Protagonists. All of them whites dudes and no female. It would take too much work to implement 'such a feature' says Ubisoft. Thank you, Ubisoft, for reminding me why I stopped caring about this franchise the moment you decided to make several games about that jarring fake-accent-Italian Ezio Audacity the Refrigerator.

I seriously cannot get enough of this trailer.

I swear I've watched it a dozen times already myself

I've been pretty damn excited for Unity since they first announced it with that teaser video. I wanted Assassin's Creed 3 to be about the French Revolution instead of the American one... but, well, at least I'm getting the game I wanted now! The developers' reassurances that they've revamped the parkour system and the combat (my two biggest issues with the series in general; parkour has always been too contextual, and combat has always been too easy) has only inflamed my thirst.

And while I would have loved to play a female assassin, I'm not upset about no female option in coop mode because (I assume anyway) that coop is seamless. So even when you're playing in coop, you are always Arno.

Hopefully, the huge hullabaloo over no female option in coop will inspire Ubisoft to put a female protagonist in Assassin's Creed 5... a girl can dream, anyway ;)

Regarding the issue, I'm just upset at Ubisoft's bullshit reasoning behind not putting a female assassin in the game.

Anyway, I've been waiting for a French Revolution game for a while now, I think since AC2. I would suggest reading Revolutionary Ideas by Jonathan Israel if you're interested:

Here's hoping that it beats the best game in the series thus far, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag:

Why you gotta hate on Ezio Auditore da Fake Accent?

Ezio was easily on the best protagonists of last gen.

Sure, out of all the Ubisoft whitebread protagonists, with whacky fake accents, he easily wore out his welcome the most. Incidentally, is still like saying "Out of all these reniditions of DaVinci paintings created by flicking piles of dried up dog poo at a canvas ten feet away, I think this one is the least whiffy,"

Most assassins creed games have pretty **** protagonists. Desmond was a constant ******, Altair had nothing to hate but nothing to like either he was just there, Ezio he was a rather generic overly naive pretty boy, Connor was like Altair barely involved in the plot only occasionally turning up to kill someone. Edward was the only one I haven't hated. All the ones before him seem to have been hit with the stupid stick.

Nah, not really. I'd say that being an engaging and charming main character is what's appealing about him. The sense of progression and development he undergoes is interesting too.

The hyperbolic derision is nice though.

Lol. Jokes apart AC Unity will be great imo. Personally I don't give a f@ck if there is no a female protagonist or a female in multiplayer. There are other more important things to look in a game.
