What did you think of Torres in Black Flag? At one point he even argues against slavery with a couple of Templars. I wouldn't say he's ever "good," but he definitely doesn't come off as insane or power-mad.

Aye, that is where "Unity" comes from. The potential for assassins and templars working together. "Potential" since they seem to never do. Except maybe in Arno and Elise's case.
That would be very intriguing. Hope that is the case. Though still need to play AC3 and Black Flag before I get this installment.

I say play AC3 and enjoy it for what it is, then play Black Flag and realize it blows it out of the water
appropriately enough, pun unintended

They actually brought that idea up in the AC3 guide. I was kinda hoping it would be in modern day though.

Looks like this is going to be featuring the whole Assassin/Templar relationship in full blast while Rogue is going to have us view the story from a Templar's point of view for once (excluding Haythem). They both seem promising. Though I think one of the things that made Black Flag so unique is that the story wasn't even about the Assassins or Templars, it was about Edward discovering himself and what the Assassin's Creed actually means.

They make both sides grayer with each game. Good.

Unity is going to be similar. They've said that Unity is about Arno's story, not simply the Assassin Brotherhood. They've said, for example, that the game begins before he is an Assassin.
Really if you think about it, they've been doing this since AC 2, it's just that the Ezio trilogy spread it out way more.

That trailer is interesting. I certainly hope they aren't going the AC 2 + Brotherhood route of "religious figures are Templars, also hypocrites," but that part at the very end was very, very, VERY interesting.
The idea of a group of leader for the Assassins is something they have never really explored before (AC was the closest, but not particularly good). Reminded me of the Volturi.

Stats, man. Freaking STATS.
Linky linky
Edit: I'm sorry. But FREAKING STATS THIS IS AN ACTION RPG
Ubi doesn't even have to hype this game, I'm hyping myself into a tizzy here.
Double Edit: Also, that's just a chest piece. So it's possible there's other stuff, like trousers and boots. Maybe.

Really digging the style of the armor, and indeed, stats are always welcome.
Added the trailer to OP. Do love how they seem to have expanded even more on the approach of assassinations.

Really feels like this game might finally bring the 'Assassin' part back to Assassin's Creed with all the revitalized stealth elements, more open design and by taking away your ridiculous tanking abilities. Really digging that.

I don't know if its taking away the ability to tank so much as just making it a bit harder to do.
Still, it should promote more stealth, as assassins should do.

Okay, I just watched that Gamescom gameplay. I know npcs haven't really been the brightest crayon in the box when it comes to stealth games but come on. There were a few parts in that video that showed how blind and unobservant the A.I. is. More specifically the part when Arno gets inside the Notre-Dame Cathedral, rudely walks in front of a huge crowd, jumps into a haystack only a few feet away from said crowd, and then proceeds to pull a guard into said haystack. No one in that crowd saw that?
Really reminded me of this, especially now more than ever.

I'm really starting to believe Assassin's are magic.

I think the crowd was too distracted to pay attention. To be honest, I think it's better if some people act indifferently to an Assassin. It's kinda ridiculous that in past games huge crowds would literally drop whatever they were doing and stop talking just to look at you climbing onto a windowsill. I liked the trailer, but I wish they'd show more in-depth combat footage.

Well if I was climbing onto a windowsill I think the populace would be pretty damn distracted, hahaha
