Sorry, I guess my skin is just a little thicker. I'll concede defeat if you beat this with the HI.

Once I beat Sirian's solo gold Fury record, anyway.

Pack a venom and you'll do it on the first time, with modded objectives.

Why Venom? Acolyte is servicable enough.

Ok Here are my thoughts:

HA - Probably one of the best adepts, No need to rely on others to prime enemies + singularity is useful for ragdolling unshielded enemies(health)
Hsol - Ad.Rush makes him almost as powerful as an infiltrator + free shields too + DR too.
HI - TC, nuff said and Cryo blast as a debuff vs armor too
HE - one of the easier engineers to play as he can set off both tb's and fe's without relying on others and ammo powers.
HSent - Slightly behind the HA but more tankier and again no need to rely on others for priming. Warp + throw = good enough.

Now the Novaguard.
The thing is he's good but among the above 5, he does lack dmg output.
Dont get me wrong, he's crazy fun to play, but looking at effectiveness, he always needs to rely on others for detonating combos/use ammo powers. True he does have iFrames from Nova but that isnt doing much to make the enemies die faster.

All other vanilla humans are self reliant. They can be played even without a cyclo mod and that gives them a slot for any other useful mod.
The Novaguard, due to his very nature of cqb'ing with the enemy makes it necessary for a cyclo mod on him. True he can use ammo powers for detonating combos, but most enemies have defences(Barriers/Shields) that need to be brought down first and tech bursts arent that great imo when using Novaguard. I guess people would be rather charging and novaing most of the time so as to get the most out of iFrames and relying on teammates to prime enemies for combos.

Anyway, just my 2 cents!

Uhm... Now I don't wanna sound rude or presumptuous, but... It kinda looks like you're not playing the Novaguard properly.

First of all, TB are *the* way to make him work. Not sure why you say they're not great on him. I mean he's great fun and nigh unkillable even without, but you are right in that his damage output is rather lackluster. Without TBs, that is.

Furthermore, cyclonics are a waste on him. You don't need them, since you'll spend 95% of your time in I-frame anyway, if you play him right. Equip a power amp instead, it'll give you a bit more punch. Unless playing platinum... I usually prefer a cyclonic there because you get much less shieldgate CD bullshit. But it's definitely not strictly needed even there.

So, if you want to increase your damage output with him, do this: equip a talon with disruptor ammo, power mod and either mag upgrade or AP mod. Pistol amp, power amp. Play cerberus /gold. Routine is: charge a distant enemy, shoot once, nova, shoot, nova, shoot, charge, rinse and repeat. If you'd under heavy fire, turn the second nova in a nova cancel. You will detonate 2/3 TBs per cycle, which will annihilate everything in range but atlases. The only things you need to watch out for are: atlases syncs, atlases missiles staggering you and opening you up for a phantom sync, dragoons/phantoms deathsquad for heavy fire and stagger possibly leading to a sync kill.

Try him out this way, and I'm sure you'll find his damage output to be pretty good. He's no DrellGod, but he can flatline any infantry pretty damn quick.

Venom does everything the acolyte does, but it also kills enemies. It's way better ;)

It strips Phantom shields in one shot? I wasn't aware.

It does better... It OHKs them if they're inside AF range ;) *sunglasses*

Edit: charged shot of course. Normal shot is only useful for stagger when you're caught pants down. One more reason why it's superior to the acolyte.

Venom is nearly OP. With this gun you pretty much don't need anything else. You don't even have to see the enemy most of the time, just bounce off of walls, ceilings, big machines.

It was even godly when I put it on a no passives Volus and with no gear/ammo.

It is not very good at taking out bosses, though. Not too high DPS, no penetration, AoE doesn't help against them... If you don't have some form of damage boost you won't do squat to them. It also sucks ass off host. All in all, I feel it's a great gun, but not more OP than some others...

Cant say i agree with your opinion but i respect it. Also i almost always play platinum and based my observations of my use with him on plat only. Didnt think much about gold/lower difficulties.

Also i didnt say he's lackluster. Said he's a bit lacking compared to the other vanilla humans. Yes he's crazy fun but i still find it hard to see that tech bursts actually do any useful dmg on platinum. The only kit for me that consistently uses disruptor ammo and owns is the GE with chain overload and with slayer. But i can see where you are coming from. I think of him as more of a aggro drawer + very good detonator of all things. And i have seen enough BS on plat to warrant me using a cyclo mod on him! :P

Also i hate that BC will be bugged sometimes and will not register even if there is a clear LOS to the enemy + ample space to where the game can put the character model. Those few seconds trying to charge but not registering alone are enough for an advancing pyro/phantom/any enemy to health-gate me, let alone near a spawn.

Talon with power amp + ap mod is a given tho! :P

I would agree and have used him before like you said on gold. Cerberus is trivial on gold with him. But since i play plat almost exclusively, i based my observations off that.

Also note that i am not bashing the novaguard or something, its crazy fun for me too and i love him, but since the OP wanted the least effective vanilla human, i based my experience of playing them all and came up with this.

Sure, I understand that. And I respect your opinion too. My opinion usually only takes gold into account, as that's the only difficulty I usually play. On platinum he might fall a bit behind in damage output. But if you're wise, you'll pick your fights - and phantoms are quite abundant on platinum, aren't they? ;) Reaper units are the most painful for him...

However, I do happen to have a record of a platinum solo tryout I did some weeks ago... Ended up badly on wave 4, but I think it showcases nicely his potential, and what TBs can achieve on him. Not presuming to be the best novaguard player around, but I think it might be worth to watch, if you would like to see things from a different perspective...? If so, I could upload it. Let me know ;)

Regarding the Novaguard, I found using LolReegar with disruptor rounds works wonders if you're gonna do your own thing. If you're with biotic teammates, then I'd use warp rounds.

http://kalence.drupa...34153334!G.8EGK

I don't use him much though unless the others in the lobby are biotic/tech combo spammers. The Novaguard can hold his own quite well but for me it's the best kit when you wanna just detonate stuff and live forever, though you pretty much have to host if you want to get the best out of it.

Edit: I know a lot of people like the Venom but I'm kind of "meh" about it. Then again mine is only rank 1 and has been that way since Citadel DLC came out. LolRNG.

It's okay mate! Since you insist that Disruptor rounds are viable on him, i will give it a try once more and see for myself. Thanks for your suggestion!
