I'm just randomly wondering if the Arcane Warrior specialization is to return in DA: Inquisition. It would of had to have been too forced for Hawke to get it, but I can see making sense for the Inquisitor the have/gain the knowledge.

For me, it was useless. As were 85% of all the specs.
If it returns, I hope it's not as lacking as it was in previous installments.

I loved the Arcane Warrior specialization but, after thinking more, I realize why it did not appear in DAII.
The "spirit" for lack of a better term that The Warden learns it from suggests it is the last "being" that knows how to fight that way so it stands to reason that unless Hawke ran into The Warden at some point there isn't really a way for Hawke to learn it unless Merril's clan had learned how to be Arcane Warriors.
I did hate how the majority of specializations for mages felt useless though outside of the ones you have access to from the beginning.

That can't be it. You fought a AW in the Haven caves. There was a AW in the Provings. It's not as dead as you're led to believe.
I liked the AW simply because it meant my mages didn't have to wear those ugly robes. The rest of it was fun to play.

AW was one of the best(if not best) specialisations in DAO, even it's pretty broken. Do want to see it's return in DAI.

"for you" is a huge modifier about any otherwise competent assessment of arcane warrior's utility.
With a wealth of ccs, ability to heal, absolute protection from harm, and extremely damaging abilities, mages are, bar none, the most advantaged class in origins.
To add arcane warrior on top of it all, it means you can also tank and slug.
Even one point into this tree gives mage reasonable access to the coveted cailan's arms set, which remains viable, if not optimal, well into end game stage of awakening, a expansion filled with gear so OP that the system cannot fully accommodate the soul bound damage bonus percentage.

Unless a BioWare employee is willing to divulge what specialties exist in game I doubt you will get a "yes it is returning" or "no it is not returning" you may have to wait till the game releases.

We will no doubt be exploring an elven ruin or two in Inquisition, so it is not beyond the realm of possibility to find another of those crystal genies knocking about.
Thankfully, I don't find it likely. They have been working on making each class distinct from one another since DA2, there have been no indications that a hybrid class like AW will make an appearance.

I'd love for the AW spec to return, shimmering shield! But if AW returns it will have to be more balanced because SS turned my mage into a better tank than my warrior...

they dont HAVE to make it a true hybid class make the arcane warrior closer to a battlemage.

Eh, it's just a bunch of sustainables and passives. Useful, but completely unnecessary with the tools you already have between a tank and a mage. No offensive skills, no weapon abilities, it's just boring.
The reason why it was so great is because it gave you an excuse to not wear this trash:

I don't really care about the specialization itself, just let my Saarebas dual wield Qunari swords like a boss, like the Arishok I mean.

And you could mod it so that sheathing wasn't necessary. (Which I did, because I couldn't think of any "in-the-games-world" logic behind it and I found it annoying.)

the only reason you guys loved it was cause it was OP. if the put it in and it comes out nerfed to death than a lot of you will probably be pissed off.

I liked it because I was able to put on armour while not having to pour points into Strength, so you're wrong. Not everyone likes things for their OPness.

maybe that was what you were thinking in your conscious mind but deep down it was the OPness. I had no problem wearing a robe as a mage. because you know, it IS kind of a industry norm. Its wierd for a mage not be in normal clothing. and I bet that those robes were a thousand times more comfortable to spend hours running around in.

That's nice, not only do you have the gall to say that you know how I feel about things, you also seem to believe that whatever "norm" you see here automatically becomes a mandatory element. I had no problem wearing a robe either, but that doesn't mean I have to do only that. It's my decision to choose how I fight. Let the game penalize me for going the route besides the optimal one for magic if it wants, but only as long as it doesn't completely block me from it because it doesn't "suit" my class.
There should be nothing physically stopping me from choosing to go the route of having the best armour and the best physical damaging weapon in the game. It's up to me to decide how I fight, what I should wear, whether it is comfortable for me, suits me, or if it is efficient. If you like wearing skirts and think that they are more comfortable and better than actual armour, that's your choice, but don't go about saying that that is what everyone else need to wear.

Robes are fine for lounging around comfy studies. Trying to run around the wilderness, climb, fight, jump, hike in robes is preposterous.
