Hmm... how about Sur'Kesh at the elevator, after the bomb goes off?

I probably wouldn't have guessed Leviathan on my own though, so Animositisomina should get the credit for that one.

I'd post a screenshot except that the only one I have is one I posted in another thread showing that Sabotage doesn't work against husks...except that it does. And if imgur is playing up I'm stumped anyway.

I knew those pink and blue wires (under Shep's leg) looked familiar but couldn't quite place them.

Here's one to guess:

This is that N7 mission with the gas that has all the monsters in it I think.

If by monsters you mean klixen, then you are correct. It's the planet Tarith, visited for the N7: Blood Pack Communications Relay side quest.

Call em monsters cause I had nightmare about that mission after playing it right before I went to sleep.

This one should be pretty easy:

Did BioWare ever explain what happened to this form of geth, or were they simply retconned out of the game?

Therum or Feros? And no I don't think Bioware ever gave a reason if they did I missed it.

Correct. Yeah, always thought that was weird. We see them in ME1 and then they're just gone. I was kinda hoping we'd see them during the geth consensus mission in ME3, but nope.

Ah Geth in the tower thingy. I wish Legion was one of those hoppers.

No need for a retcon. They just didn't appear. Maybe they were deprecated, and the consensus stopped producing that particular platform design.

Sorry, retcon was just a poor word choice. I was just getting at the idea that they were removed from the game, period. As far as deprecation goes, not sure why they'd stop making a model that can jump around, attach to walls, and moves quite fast. Seems like they'd want more of those.

Which is odd considering they were actually some of the harder geth enemies.

Yeah, I just edited my post to make a similar point. It seems like they'd want more of them, not less or none altogether.

Maybe issues with level design and the cover based shooting of ME2 and ME3?

By "they" I meant the geth in that particular post. But if we're talking about BioWare's reasons, level design and/or going into more of a cover-based shooter seems like a possiblity. Even so, some kind of reason given in-game for their disappearance would've been cool.

Yeah the could have at least given Legion a quick line or two about it.

Ah, hoppers, my favorite Geth. Love encountering these, except on Ilos - was like shooting fish in a barrel for some reason there.

Geth variants sort of got pared down from one title to the next, didn't they?

I imagine they got rid of them because the maps all got scaled smaller. Well i dont know if thats the right way to say it, but everything got more compacted in 2 and 3, not very open. With the giant maps there was plenty of room.

There was a definite design change to reduce the height that players had to survey to look for enemies. Flying turrents in ME1 could float all over the place. In ME2 they were reduced to landing at specific points, and in ME3 enemies at a height are restricted to specific paths on the map. It's definitely easier to quickly find and shoot enemies with that design change.

I miss all the different variations in Geth.
