So apparently theres a new dragon age book coming out in August, that switches between the modern day post 5th-Blight Wardens and one of the last Grey Warden Griffon riders.

Good find, but it looks to be a paperback, not a comic.

Nevermind, it says!

"About the Author
As a so-called “Army brat,” Liane Merciel grew up in Germany, South Korea, and several different parts of the United States. She is an alumnus of Yale University and the College of William & Mary Law School. She now lives in Philadelphia, where she practices law. Liane is the author of two original fantasy novels, The River King's Road and its sequel, Heaven's Needle, and has written both novels and short works for the Pathfinder rpg."

Interesting. It probably ties with DAI, since the Wardens are set to appear and the Inquisition will set its signt on them, based on the GI coverage.

I'd assume it will at least hint at what is up considering this part of the blurb.

"As the dark secrets buried in Isseyna's story unfold, Valya begins to question everything she thought she knew about the heroic Grey Wardens. . . . "

Nice to get a closer look at the warden organization.

So is it Issenya or Isseyna, I wonder? The blurb author couldn't decide.

Great news! So there's an elven mage warden investigating about the history of the Grey Wardens. I hope we find out more about Garahel. According to what we have heard of that elf, it remined me of our own Wardens.

And griffons! Let's hope we see griffons again (no, seriously, if dragons are coming back, why not griffons?).

The hints about a possible dark secret look ominous. I wonder if it will be related to that possible Grey Warden companion everyone is talking about.

Well, wahtever the case, it seems that Bioware wants to have its fans occupied until Inquisition is released. First, Asunder (give fuel to the Mage-Templar war!). Then, The Masked Empire in april (Orlesian politics! Opression of elves! And fashion!). Now, this Last Flight in summer, with secrets about the Grey Wardens. We played as a Grey Warden and still don't know almost anything about their organization. By the time Inquisition comes, I guess everyone will be hungry for the game, if only to have their questions answered.

All the core fans will be, anyway, since the majority of Inquisition's sales will come from people who probably wouldn't think to pick up tie-in novels overall, I assume. But core fan hype is infectious and helps connect the less connected to the impending launch of the game itself. It's a smart investment.

That's why I posted a link in the twitter thread, it might as well have been a developer announcement when Thunderfox made this topic, ha.

I guess BioWare may have thought to keep this one reasonably under wraps until after Patrick's novel, I dunno.

Yes, that looks likely.

Revealing secrets about the Grey Wardens in a new novel seems like a good way to introduce more ambiguity into the organisation before DA:I.

Also, gryphons semi-confirmed.

I am concerned about the fact that the author is not working for Bioware... Not as interested as I'd excpcted me to be :)

The Masked Empire was originally slated for a 2013 release, if I'm remembering my newly-acquired franchise history correctly here. That would contribute to this.
