Did someone mention crutches and pirates?

LOL.

Anyway, one thing I'm gonna say to the OP:  Concentrate on recruit packs and veteran packs, you need weapon mods.

Any weapons build is going to be hamstrung until then by a lack of AP since you're going to have trouble getting AP ammo, so you're going to have to rely on casters for a while.

Try using that executioner pistol on your HEng, against bosses and groups of mooks he can set off a chain of FE's and TB's by alternating incinerate and overload, and individual mooks can be killed almost instantly with overload->bullet to the body. (you may need head-shots if playing on gold without level 3 consumables), and it's built in AP helps bypass your lack of AP mods and ammo.

I agree with Vanelsa that the Human Adept is a great choice for gold gameplay regardless of weapons available, because it's a power kit. I personally would skip passives, since the BEs don't benefit from the additional power damage and you'd benefit from the additional fitness & the oft-overlooked shield recharge bonus at fitness rank 5b.

I would personally say the Procollector would be good adept to go into gold with. Since you don't have the Arc Pistol yet, Next time you're on try this and see how it goes. From the look of your manifest OP you have some pretty good characters to start getting into gold with. As other have said before, if you go the AIU/TGI route, don't use them for long as they will teach you bad habits and you'll subconsciously rely on the stim packs/repair matrix. Just use them to grasp the basics and memorize what the enemy composition is on each wave for each faction. If you're into Batarians, your Batarian Sentinel will be a really good character to take into gold. This is essentially the build I use but I use radius and full shockwave on my actual build. This is a variant considering radius is bugged on PC and taking into account the consumables, weapons, and mods you have.

If you like feeling soldiery

then throw your wraith or your saber on your turian sentinel

he doesn't have marksman but Overload is a great CC ability that does wonders for your survivability

Tech armor also makes him quite a bit more tanky than the soldier.

The turian soldier's defense is an awesome offense, lower tier weapons can put a dent in that and could be why you found yourself dying quite a bit.

You just weren't killing stuff fast enough

If you want to be all wizard-like and explody then then both the Human Adept and Human engineer set off biotic and Tech explosions with the best of them

Here is how I got ready for gold. Practice you kit by doing Solo gold for the first 1-3 levels only. This will also give you the chance to tweak your build or using different weapons. Do this 20+ times and you should be ready for a Gold Pug.

Hard to go wrong with Human Sentinel, 6/6/6/0/6 with a Tempest or Mattock or something.

He's tough, he has dodge, he's power based, and you're guaranteed to have him unlocked.

I agree your manifest isn´t best for gold right now, but out of what I saw, I would suggest:

1. Quarian Male Engineer with Mattock. You can go incinerate + arc grenades for fire explosions or arc grenades + incinerate for tech burst or incinerate for stagger and head shots or arc grenades for area stagger. Basically you can´t really go wrong there.

2. Salarian Infiltrator with Mantis if you can snipe. Headshots would help a lot. Energy drain will replenish your shields if used on enemy with shield or barrier.

3. EDI with Wraith. Probably safest out of those. If you get to troubles and can use Repair Matrix to keep yourself alive, it will help your team mates. You can use Shock Trooper gear to get more damage for shotgun and more grenades(Repair Matrix)

Hm, I liked Quarian Engineer with Raptor. Which is not very different from Mattock.

The Mattock is significantly better than the Raptor.

Hm. I do use infiltrators a lot on Gold, though I have found some of the caster classes like the adepts or even vanilla engineer to be survivable. Even sneak around with them as well as I can with a kit that doesn't have tactical cloak. Detonate whatever you can and use power amps and you should do okay.

My first gold matches were played with a vanilla human soldier wielding a Mattock. I did however have the Mattock at X and a decent assault rifle piercing mod at that time. I picked a kit and a weapon with which I was very comfortable and built the kit for survivability - lots of fitness, DR and shield restore on Adrenaline Rush, big cyclonic modulator in the armour equipment slot. I reckon you'll do better with a setup that you already know how to use than a theoretically better one that you heard about on the Internet but which you haven't practised with. Also don't play gold for the XP (at least not yet) - level your kit of choice to level 20 in silver, then take them into gold matches.

Other things I remember from my first gold experiences include trying to be less aggressive than on silver, staying aware of escape options from bad situations and generally attempting to "buddy-up" with another player rather than wandering off on my own.

Regarding your manifest, I'd say you've still got a lot of veteran packs to buy. There's a few decent uncommon weapons that will work well with gold (Mattock in particular). Sadly though spectre packs are much better at dropping uncommon weapon mods. These are another highly useful thing to work on as they include most of the various piercing mods.

You're right, I should have looked at the stats.

That much is obvious :)

Indeed.  It can be worth playing a few gold games with a AIU or TGI when you're new to gold to get a feel for the basics, but once you've done that you really need to start using less op kits to avoid becoming dependant on them.

The word "crutch" is apt, there's nothing wrong with using one temporarily in a time of need then abandoning it when you're ready, it's only leaning on one constantly that's bad.

Unless you're a pirate of course.   KK4PsZCb.jpg  Arrr.

Pirate reporting in.

ARRRR!

OP, try this if you want

I based my choice upon your manifest.

With that build you can kill with one headshot (even bodyshot) most of ground troopers, for bosses be sure to snap freeze first and then shoot, activate repair matrix when you feel you're in a dangerous situation, but if the map has plenty of grenades and nobody else is using them feel free to keep repair matrix constantly active, at the end of the game slap yourself one time for each time you went down in the previous match, this will help you to get better and rely less on repair matrix.  :D

Sorry, didn't mean to condescend. I misread one of your earlier posts and thought you'd taken a level 18 kit into one of your gold matches.

No-no, I took lvl20 and failed with that. It was one hell of a hard character to use, though (Awakened Collector).

With that manifest I would go either  AIU, Havoc, GI + Wraith/Acolyte, or Human Adept + Acolyte/Hornet. I remember I was using the Hornet exclusively on my Adepts till I got the Hurricane/CSMG at a decent level.

Also if you like snipin' HI/QFI with Mantis is totally gold viable, although I see that you don't have much Phasic Ammo and Sniper Rail Amps so it might be "problematic".

The trouble here is while HA is indeed power house, it´s also kind of squishy. New players usually have problems with situational awarness and game mechanics, so they get shot at far more often then others. I didn´t suggest it, because I suspected OP would faceplant too much and would end up disillusioned.

I'd also recommend the first time you extract:

Spend all of it on recruit packs until all the commons are maxed. Then spend later runs on veteran packs and max the uncommons. THEN start getting spectre and PSPs. You'll fill up your manifest pretty good and some of the uncommons are pretty good at tier X.

Rares will fill up a bit slower, but they'll fill up. It's the Ultra-Rares that are more difficult due to the store's RNG.

Destroyer without the missle launcher.

Just point and shoot, be hard to kill, never stagger and deal a hell lot of damage.

Yep, I already stopped buying APs, RPs, PSPs and SPs a while ago. Only buy RPs and VPs now.
