I can totally see what you mean- I hate having to interrupt the PPR (especially once its ramped up) just to munch some Stim Packs, which happens quite frequently since, like most people, I don't worry about fitness on the TGI. My main reason for using it on him so much was that when I finally unlocked the PPR I really (really, really, really) wanted to use it (since it was the last UR I unlocked) but it was relatively underpowered at lvl 1 (at least compared to my Harrier III, Saber V, etc) and the TGI can clearly make up for that with TC and stim pack dmg bonuses. Not really a problem anymore since its up to level 7 now.
 
In any case, I'll definitely try it on the TSent- thanks.

PPR-TSent, since lvl I till the end. Godly on gold since I, superior on platinum since V. Trust me.

Using guns without recoil on Turians...
 
This should be against some kind of law.
 


Oh yea, "stability bonus" the least important part of the amazing OG passives that doesn't work off host 9/10. We have dismissed that claim.

I only play offhost. With massive lag, at that. Stability works for me most of the time.

I always transitioned using my favorite kit which was also the kit I was best with. Funny fact that all my 'firsts' (b/s/g) were fails, except my first plat which was a full extraction. (Banshees were stupid and got stuck on the counters)

I guess from my experience, taking your best kit with which you mastered silver is your best option.

I can play silver with many kits (half of what I've tried so far, which is about 1/3rd of the total number of characters in the game). But none work for me on gold. The only one that does is still AIU, which I didn't play a single silver game with, only tried it as per recommendations in this topic. Human soldier kinda works, too, but staying alive while shooting is hard.

My latest gold fail is Juggernaut, can't even tank a single Praetorian.

Tanking with Juggs is a lot easier if you tank with your gun rather than force choking everything.
IMO meleeing everything with him works only if you've got teammates that know how to exploit it.

You are not ready for gold as yet. Try all the kits not just half of them; get better weapons, mods, gears.

 

You can force it, but it will be painful for everyone involved.

You must be right. I realize I wasn't playing properly, just didn't figure out what the proper way is yet (it's not like I can outrun Praetorian even if I tried to!).

Try slowly backing away and shooting between meleeing. If you are going to just stand there, he will be meleeing you nonstop and unless there are other players taking it down, it means you are locking yourself into meleeing him too in order to survive, which takes long, you are very likely bound to get staggered at some point and you are taking hits from other enemies at the same time. It´s not good position.

You know where to shoot a Praetorian, right? The metal plate on its underbelly, under the 'beak' thingy. It has Husk heads underneath.

 

Anyway, so to tanking a Praetorian is a matter of timing and learning its animations. You have to melee it whenever it tries to melee you or you will get staggered to death. Whenever you get a chance, you unload the highest DPS weapon you've got right into that weak spot.

are you using consumables?

 

Pretty much any kit with a cyclonic 3 or 4 is survivable on Gold as long as you at least stay in soft cover.

 

Try a TGI with a cyclonic 3 & warfighter package and just abuse the hell out of RHA and heal yourself with stims....shoot all the things, hide behind corners...Try a large open map like Hydra or Giant.

Well one praetorian won't be that big problem but even then, there will be a ton of stuff shooting at you at the same time.
You can outrun a crab simply because when it gets to you it will land and either melee or start lazoring which is easily nullified if you pop a big hex in between. Worst thing to do is to go brawling with them.

Claymore makes sure that they stay down ;)

Tried it last night- I very much approve; did a Gold on Condor v. Reapers (have to save Palaven!) and melted many things. And then I laughed at my teammates running around dealing with bugged ammo boxes. Will have to try some cheese next time (I think I used AP IV with high caliber barrel), just to see how ridiculous it can get with Warp+ PPR applying Incendiary IV at about 1500 rounds per minute- mmmm, tasty!

On the other hand, theTurian stability passive isn't anything to scoff at- the TSol is probably my favorite Hurricane platform since with his passives and Barrage upgrade the Hurricane is like a freaking laser, and since you don't need to use the stability mod you can equip Heat Sink+Mag Upgrade (plus the 15% extra ammo from Barrage) for a clip that seems to last forever, even with MM. I sure do love the sound of a Hurricane with a 50% RoF increase.

Here's a related question from a mostly B/S player:  how do you prioritize grenade usage on higher difficulties where the grenades-per-box is halved?   Using them for a Stimulant Pack or Repair Matrix might keep me up longer penetrating all the things, but OTOH it might also have been used for a cluster / arc / frag / inferno.  Perhaps it's less important given that the higher rewards => less reason to not burn thermal packs aggressively so long as you ration them over waves.

 

Would you still use a TGI if, say, you see that there's already a Demolisher or Drell Adept in the lobby?

Depends on the map- some maps have so many ammo boxes (and/or double grenade boxes) that it doesn't really matter; maps like White, Rio, Ghost, etc. But if we're playing Glacier and I see two other grenade users, I'm almost definitely going to switch to a non-grenade class. I don't really worry about burning through my thermal packs (for most grenade classes, I'll use all of them in a normal match), but on some map/teammate combos, even 6 thermal packs aren't going to be enough.

*unless one of them is a demolisher, in which case I switch to a drell so I can beat her back to her pylon and steal all the grenades.  :P

I go for the Sentinel, cheese it with flamer, grenades, and a power amp.  Once you get the grenade gear things get a lot easier.

I sure do love me some Vorcha, particularly the sentinel (flamer AND cluster grenades? goodnight!)- as far as survivability, its a little tricky because while he has health regeneration, he ultimately has fairly low health/shield totals. The key is, in my estimation, using his excellent dodge, maintaining your bloodlust stacks, and staying out of LOS of ranged enemies. Also, you have to get an idea of how much damage you can withstand with him, because there's a pretty sharp threshold, and then keep that in mind at all times- which can be difficult when moving from silver to gold, because enemies do so much more damage. 

 

Basically, when the wave starts, you want to get those first couple kills fast- look for abominations, husks, assault troopers, and take them out fast (grenades are great for this)-then you want to close on the enemies without getting shot, and use your dodge liberally- its one of the best dodges in the game. Another thing that helps is using a gun that staggers, like the Venom or the Scorpion (Scorpion is great because of the Power Mod, which flamer loves), or using Disruptor Ammo- on my VSent I use the Blood Pack Punisher (cuz of Lore) with Disruptor Ammo; helps against shields, sets up tech bursts (giving me an additional way to make combos), and stuns enemies, but every now and then I'll throw the Venom on him, because Vorcha like things that go "boom"!

I see. I didn't put any points into grenades (I generally hate grenades), and didn't use weapon except for Arc pistol for shield stripping.

How to stay alive as Vorcha? Make use of their amazing dodge. And killing stuff fast for Bloodlust stacks. Killsteal shamelessly like your life depends on it (because it very well might).

 

And skipping Cluster Grenades is crazy talk.

 

If you're going to skip anything, skip Flamer.
