They've all been fairly enjoyable so far. I got a lot out of reading the World of Thedas. Gorgeous book.
The problem is that this book is not written by one of Bioware's own writers. So I'm worried it will end up like Deception with toothbrush murder weapons and people peeing in vases.

And? Patrick Weekes will be new with The Masked Empire, even with his experience as a game writer. Either way, he's already written his own fantasy novel too. And this woman has a series of her own, at her back. I'm sure she'll have plenty of talks and notes to reference the lore. And it wouldn't be so different from any sci fi writer taking something from say, the Star Wars universe and writing a book. As a writer myself, it's nice to see Bioware branching out. David Gaider can't be expected to do everything.

Are you a Mass Effect fan, ziloe? If so, you'll understand the trepidation. The fourth Mass Effect novel -- first written by someone who isn't on their writing staff -- was a disaster.
I don't expect that to happen again here but therein lies the concern.

I am indeed, though, the premise of their books didn't really intrigue me enough to go out of my way to get them. But I can understand the hesitation, given past experiences.
Still, isn't that exactly what we're doing here? I mean, DA2 for a lot of us was not what we hoped for, some would say it was outright bad. But even so, here we are because we have faith that Bioware learned from their mistakes. I'm sure after the fiasco that was that book (I did hear talk about it), that they won't make the same mistake again.
Heck, I can't remember what thread I saw it, but I remember it being said that the epilogue of DAI was playable, so that in itself is showing how much Bioware has moved forward, given how much people praised DAO's ending.

Oh, it's been stated that you can play the game after the ending, yeah. I think that's what you're referring to. Like ME2 in that regard.
Anyway, I know what you mean. From my extremely limited time as a Dragon Age fan (roughly ten weeks) I've scoured what I can find (working on the comics as we type) and found a level of consistent quality within the ancillary materials which would make some of the best Mass Effect side content blush by comparison. And this author isn't Dietz, too, so that's good.

When it was said, it was said with the words epilogue. The context was that they were testing different stages and it didn't matter what level they were, at the time. And then he mentioned that he was playing through the epilogue at level 1 or something along those lines.
As for you, 10 weeks? That is quite new. I'm surprised you're on these forums already. You should be blowing through several playthroughs of DAO and DA2 right now, not paying attention to all these spoilers. ![]()

Oh... wow. If so that'd be awesome, yeah.
Heh heh, well I did do playthrough topics of Origins and especially DA2 in their respective forums, the latter of which brought about a lot more cool discussion than I'd anticipated, so that was really, really fun. You should check it out sometime if you're bored and think you might enjoy a first-timer's analysis! As for multiple playthroughs, alas, school won't really let me dive in so much right now. Plus I'm actually really conservative about my total runs through video games compared with just about anyone else dedicated enough to post on gaming boards.
I still "only" have four Mass Effect Trilogy files after three-and-a-half-years.

It's cool man, it only took me 6 years to fully complete Fallout 3. xD
Seriously though, like you I play them sparingly. There's very few games that I've actually wanted to replay, but that's mostly because they don't have much to offer in replay value. Heck, first game I actually replayed after beating it was Ogre Battle 64, because I discovered it had alternate endings. Beautiful game though. I think you can find it in the Wii store now, too.
I know what you mean though, about being crazy busy. Outside of being a writer, I'm also an artist for a small indie videogame team and our launch day is coming really close, so everyone is pretty tense right now. xD
When I have more time, I may just check out your threads, haha.

Ahh, the Ogre Battle series. I think I've done three files on the PSP update for Tactics Ogre thus far. May gorge on a fourth sometime during the summer if time permits.
Good luck with everything re: your launch!

Definitely play the 64 version, if you get a chance or have a Wii. I loved Tactics Ogre too, both of them. Ugh, I need to fix my PSP.
And thank you very much, good sir. ;D

Lodis is made all the better, if you complete it quickly and get the secret ending reveal.
But that said, so... there's this book...

Much like BioWare (If Alberta even counts as Canada
) I'm Canadian, so that doesn't work.
You leave my lovely frozen videogame producing province out of this

I'm actually really pumped for the book, because 1)more wardens 2) griffons!! And 3) I've read one of the authors books before and think they'll do a good job.
PS nothing can be as bad as deception
Nope, the BG novelization was as bad. Even worse then Deception, but I was younger back then and less tolerant, so who knows ![]()

So why did the griffons die out after the 4th blight? Was that ever explained in the codex?
Never said. I have a theory that they are exoctic creaters to southern thedus and only the batch that was brought there died out.

I don't know, really. I read it not too long ago and I don't remember it being at Deception levels. Sure, it takes extreme liberties with the original game's canon and shoe-horns a pretty odd love subplot, but overall I didn't dislike the language or get the feeling the author hadn't heard of D&D in their life.

I think there was something that said they were killed off during the 4th blight, because the war was so brutal that none survived. But I'm sure we'll find out more in this novel about it.
