The new one, though, hit the nail on the head. How they kept the whole Hydra thing under wraps until release is mind-blowing to me.

No superhero ing to be found. Only character regression as far as the eye can see.

IMO there were several major issues with Iron Man 3. First off; I liked the "Mandarin Twist". It was clever & introduced a lot of sheep to the notion that sometimes governments of powerful nations create fiction to induce a certain level of... patriotism amongst their citizens.
The acting was also decent, especially Sir Ben and Guy Peirce. (Of course Downey Jr was on point)
The main problem was giving Pepper a new and interesting role to fill in Tony's life while simultaneously making him seem vulnerable. The "Extremis virus" was adopted from the comics to help with this. It was a failure mostly because it was a plot device first and a real threat second.
The Iron man films were doomed to get desperate simply because the previous films had used Stark tech as the villian's main form of attack. This film needed something different, but believable. It needed a great bad guy. Guy Pierce delivered, but his character was flat and more a nemesis of Pepper than Tony. He needed a unique trick up his sleeve, which he lacked.
Then the Pepper problem. Her ability to operate a suit is plausible, but as well as Tony? And then to kill Killian (Pierce) with the gauntlet? Her character seemed more pacifist than that. Then, on top of this leap in logic, Stark "cures" her of the Extremis "infection" overnight? Come on.
I despised the "auto-pilot" suit idea half-way through the movie. It was a dumb idea pushed to an idoitc extreme.
The ending I think was the worst part. It was way too sudden and way too much epilogue to occur in 45 seconds. I expect Tony will take a back seat in Avengers: Age of Ultron, if only because he has effectively been written into an advisor-type role. Too bad...

Hopefully not

This implies he'll be back, Unless Rhodey takes on the Iron man Mantel.

Of course he'll be back... Ultron's creation is somehow tied to Tony. I doubt he will be kicking ass in the normal capacity, however...

yeah... the exploding the suits were kinda dumb. I don't think he "cured" her overnight, it just seemed that way in narration. other than that it seems the biggest problems are pepper-related. I just discarded them cuz I don't like pepper.

Iron Man 3 has nothing on WInter Solider and Future Past.

I think IM3 is a better superhero movie than winter soldier, winter soldier is a spy movie.

If superhero movies mean the main character(Tony) does buggerall for half the movie then ya, it's a solid superhero movie alright.

It's not though, it's a comedy, and a poor one at that.
"These suits are only coded to me"
**** you Shane Black, for pissing away 3 movies worth of character development and the possibility your crappy movie could have a truly cool ending action sequence with a single bad joke.
No, the Tin-foil Iron Man armors are way better,

Like the Honest Trailer's parody said, it's Tony Stark as Regular Man in Iron Man 3.

Well, which one has him the most as Regular Man: Iron Man 2 or Iron Man 3?

3, He spent the least amount of time in the suits in 3.
Also 2 is pretty good, regardless of what people say.

Looks intriguing . Nice to see Stark back in an Iron Man suit that is primarily red. The Mach 42 ( or whatever it was called ) was surprising forgettable.
