I can understand.  I just want love interests we haven't had before.  DA so far has felt very ethnocentric.

I'm confident that at least one male and one female LI will be human

Probably Cassandra and Sera for female and Solas and Warden/Cullen/unknown human for male.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind some variation in the LI's frankly.  We've got 7 at least semi confirmed companions now and I am willing to eat my hat if Cullen isn't one too.  Out of that group, the "predictable" LI's would be:  Cassandra, "Sera", Solas, and Cullen.  I would love to see it mixed up a bit.

I think it would be amazing for Viv to be an LI.  We've never had a black woman as a LI in a Bioware game before so that would be really cool, plus I love the idea of a haughty, foppish Orlesian lady as a LI just because it would be so different than anything we've seen before.

I would also LOVE to see the Grey Warden and Iron Bull be LI's.  The Grey Warden is an older, hairy, burly guy which we've never had before.  And Iron Bull, well that's obvious since we've had a qunari before either.  Of course, since we don't know about their personalities yet, it's a bit superficial because I'm just basing this on their appearance.

Of course, who knows if Cullen is even in as a companion or LI and there are still two unconfirmed spots open and, in reality, they could be filled by two people who we haven't seen or heard anything about yet.  I mean, we hadn't seen or heard anything about Viv before her reveal, so it's possible.

Quick, where's that "You are a very funny dwarf, I like you" comic?

So far I don't see any reason all 9 pictured above can't be LI.  They're not underage, animals, or appear to be genetically related to the player character.  The only one that I can guess probably won't be a LI is the one in the middle, who seems a bit too old and battle-weary to have time for a romance.  But even Thane made it work!

Of course, we don't know those are our companions for certain.  I suspect that if Varric and Iron Bull weren't originally intended to be LIs then it was rethought due to the excitement around here over the prospect.

It would be weird to create a Qunari Inquisitor and not be able to romance Iron Bull.

Well, to be fair, we have no idea about his personality.  The only thing that we've heard, I think, is that he heads a merc crew.  He could be completely uninterested in romance with the Inquisitor for a wide variety of reasons (he could be married or in a relationship, he could be mourning the loss of a loved one, or even (*gasp*) just not interested in romance).  I don't think we know enough to determine who should be LI's or not.  Although I do enjoy speculating on who could be LI's.

About LI.

Obviosly FLI are Vivienne and Cassandra. May be Sera too but I doubt it- all 3 female chars are LI? Trim the fat!

With males I have problem - a lot of Candidates. I cross Bull, Varric and Grey Warden. Bull too exotic like Varric, Warden is quite old. I think they will make MLI more attractive and usual. So we have: mr. Mouthaced (aka Chevalier) or Cullen and Solas. Both are handsome and romancing elf guy is tradition.

I'd bet on Sera being a LI over both Cassandra Vivienne being LI.

Agreed.  In fact, Sera is the only companion so far that I feel is certain to be LI.

Dem female rogues.

I suspect (and expect) that Cassandra and Varric won't be included in the reveals. We already know quite a lot about them. Also, if they were included, it means the game won't be released until late November and December, which is not so great.

Be that as it may, it's good to have something to look forward to every month before then.

I think the concepts released in summer are more recent than the one you posted, though when He appeared in the GI combat video he looked different from all the concepts.

I would be very surprised if there were 3 female and 6 male characters. I think there is very likely a lady we haven't seen somewhere.

I really really hope that Vivienne is a LI, she's the most beautiful companion we've ever had in a DA game so far and from what we've heard about her I'll probably also like her personality a lot. She's one of the main reasons I'm planning on running a male Inquisitor first and I would be really disappointed if she's not a romance option.

The other female LI is not that important to me, I'd be happy with either Sera or Cassandra (or mysterious fourth woman in the Party).

The male Party members are very interesting this time, they all seem to be older and... well manlier than the ones we had before. It actually seems like that we might get either a very muscular and/or hairy or bald guy as LI and I'd love all of these possibilities. Varric, Iron Bull, the Warden, Solas - all of them look very interesting and unique in Terms of Bioware romances and I'd have a hard time deciding on only two of them as LIs... I think right now I'd go for Varric and Iron Bull, but I'm afraid there will have to be at least one human or elven male LI *sigh*

Maybe the Warden as well... and Solas... just everyone pls? They all look amazing at this Point. T-T

Possibly, though I don't understand why you quoted me . I was talking about the Warden's different appearances i the concepts.

Im hoping you're right but disregarding shale as a dlc character, the 3:6 ratio has been done before in DA:O. I've guessed that a qunari female will be a dlc character

Why... do people think the proportion of female characters in this game is different from previous ones?

You mean DAO. DA2 was equal/almost equal in that regards.

I'm kind of the opposite; out of the three, Vivienne is the least appealing to me. She's a beautiful woman, no doubt, but everything about her personality turns me off.

Cassandra is really the one I'm pulling for. Sera; from what little we know about her, she seems more someone I'd like to be friends with rather than someone I'd like to romance.

That being said, I personally think we'll get all three. But if we don't, then I'm hoping Cassandra's one of them.

In case anyone didn't see it in the other forum:

  • the inquisitor seems to be able to open rifts in the fade to summon demons. Whether that is a gameplay feature that all inquisitors get (via rituals?) or if it’s a class-specific bloodmagic skill I cannot say.
  • There’s a picture here where Solas’ staff looks like a double-bladed lightsaber, so I guess firespells and others have a bigger visual effect on weapons.
  • Four voice actors, two for female, two for male. You seem to be able to choose them regardless of the race you’re rolling, but you cannot use a male voice on a female PC
  • for some mysterious and not further explained reason the inquisitor is the only person capable of closing the tears in the fade
  • our headquarters is called Skyhold
  • to advance the story, the inquisition has to have gained a certain strength, to unlock new regions
  • upgrading/customization of Skyhold and any other outposts
  • IRON BULL CONFIRMED THIS IS NOT A DRILL IRON BULL CONFIRMED. HE IS A QUNARI MERCENARY.
  • Solas is a “renegade” mage but we don’t know where he is from
  • Sera seemed to be sneaking around in some cutscenes, but no confirmation on her yet
  • Solas is an expert on the fade (spirit medium like Wynne and Rhys?)
  • Gaider says “Iron Bull fears nothing, except maybe his own past”
  • Laidlaw says most areas are roughly three times the size of the korcari wilds from DA: O
  • animal wildlife works differently: they interact with each other (wolves hunt deer, a dragon once picked a fight with a giant) and need time to repopulate, so if you kill all the wolves in an area, you’re gonna have to be very patient
  • dragons actively protect their nests
  • dragons (and I imagine other really big enemies) have attack points, so you’ll do more damage hitting the head then hitting the back, for example
  • the inquisitor can jump
  • the environment is supposed to have a big influence on battle, like we’ve seen the inquisitor slightly stumble when the ground turns muddy after rain
  • large cities like Denerim will not be featured

Why... do people think the proportion of female characters in this game is different from previous ones?

Well, most party speculations end up with a dominantly male companion roster because our only real frames of reference or basis of speculation are 1) the leaked survey in which the overwhelming majority of companions described are male, and 2) the concept arts released so far in which most of the female characters we saw appear are potential female Inquisitors. Aside of Vivienne and Cassandra, who are already confirmed, and Scribe Girl who is most likely an NPC, the only other female character we've seen in them who is potentially or likely a companion is the blonde elf who may or may not be Sera from the survey.

I'm also a little worried about the gender ratio, but also hoping there's a few hidden female companions we haven't seen yet. I mean, it wouldn't make sense for them to go for a set up of 6 men and 3 women again, and I'm mostly sure they won't, but that is sort of the impression one can't help getting so far.

I mean, think of it this way. So far we have two confirmed female (Vivienne, Cassandra) and three confirmed male (Varric, Solas, Iron Bull) companions. We have the Grey Warden who is most likely a companion, and the blond elf who might be companion. If she is, that makes for an almost balanced ratio, kind of like in DA2, which is good enough since you can't have a perfectly equal split with nine companions anyway. But then we have Cullen and That Is Mahogany Guy, both of whom look like they have a pretty good chance of being companions, and if you add them, you get a full nine person party of six guys and three girls.

So, basically, that's why.

Personally, I think either of the last two will be an NPC, if not both. (That Is Mahogany looks more like a companion than Cullen to me, design-wise, but on the other hand Cullen is also very popular and already had a role in the past games) I believe I remember Gaider commenting on the War Room concept art saying that there are several non-companion characters in it too.

I will be so annoyed if the only male LI option is Varric, a DWARF, a Quanari and possibly Bald Elf and Cullen. I rather have more elf/human LIs. And Cullen is dull. Its ME3 all over again. :(

And I could never romance Varric. Thats to awkward. He is my bro, man!

You see I'm the exact opposite. I want to romance all the cool aliens/races. When ME2 came around I found out I could romance both a Turian and a Drell I felt spoiled rotten.

Thank you very much. It's getting kinda tiresome to keep track of every new bit of information that has appeared after the GameStar preview.
