They could just pop down to argos and buy some new toasters. Job done.

They can't canonise destroy. The best thing they could do is having Shepard wake up or have him captured by the Reapers and a new character has to save him.

They can canonize destroy. They have to canonize destroy. Otherwise, any problem whatsoever could either be solved by the tyrannical Shepalyst's hordes or the jolly green giants.

The LSM Revan was canonized in KoTOR (which I wasn't happy about, but what are you gonna do?) It was the best option for going forward. Bioware's best game had a canonized ending.

Ok, saying it CAN'T be canonized is a broad statement because bioware can do whatever they like, but the ending had too many holes and unexplained incidents in it that point towards the events after Harbinger zaps Shepard (or when the truck is hit on the way to the beam) being a dream/indoctrination sequence.

Well, yeah. The ending and the catalyst suck ass. BUT, let's be realistic. Bioware isn't gonna throw away their "artistic integrity." One of the endings is going to be canonized and they only one that allows for believability is destroy.

They'll probably canonize Destroy without stating it. Conditions will be consistent with a Destroy world-state, but they'll refer to Shepard "ending the Reaper War" not "destroying the Reapers." That sort of thing. Controllers will be free to headcanon a consistent timeline with this world. Synthesizers....will probably be screwed.

Well if you believe in the indoctrination theory then, now that I think about it, the destroy ending will even be canon in that case as the control and synthesis endings are essentially Shepard giving into the control of the Reapers/letting the harvest organic and synthetic life. The destroy ending however, is shepard breaking free from indoctrination and waking up.

Conflict. The canon will be one to maximize the potential for conflict. That is destroy. Oh and f*** the geth. We don't need them. We don't need the "super geth." We'll have the uplifted Yahg. Yes, remember that's what the Salarians were in the process of doing. You found out this if you went poking around that research facility. I'm sure that's going to end well. Watch, the toads didn't participate in the war, and they'll be screaming, "Help us!" Because the Yahg will be taking over Sur'Kesh.

That might be cool. That way Refusers can head canon that choosing Refuse results in a conventional victory!

It basically works for everyone except Synthesis. Even ITers can work with it.

The "toads" won't be needing to yell help, if they even are attacked. Even if they did have to, it's not like any other race would be able to.

The Yahg are different from the Krogan. We don't know if the Yahg are naturally violent; the Krogan are. The Yahg are very intelligent, the Krogan aren't. The Krogan *had* a ridiculous birth rate. The Yahg don't.

I feel that the Yahg would make good friends with the Salarians. Both are evidently hyper intelligent, and a equal alliance between the two would benefit both parties greatly. Remember, the council first contact team falsely approached the Yahg as equals, while they actually felt the Yahg were beneath them. The Yahg are said to be able to read body language perfectly, and felt disrespected. If the Salarians can honestly prove themselves as equals, they will get along beautifully.

The Salarian fleets, which will likely have every ship have Normandy stealth abilities (like their dreadnoughts), plus the STG, plus Yahg front line shock troopers, would dominate the Galaxy. Plus, both are the only two races with intact home worlds.

Pardon my racial slur against the Salarians. I've been writing a very prejudiced character in a fan fiction.  ;)

I figure the next galactic enemy will be the Salarians with the Yahg as shock troops for their Salarian masters. We've had one encounter with the intelligent spittle monster.

Maybe not a "galactic enemy," but more of a cold war. It seems the Turians and Humans grew close.

I still want to be freelance, though.

Wait, what the hell?

Salarians send first contact team.

Yahg slaughter first contact team, simply because they didn't like their body language.

Yahg aren't naturally violent.

Did I get that right?

Or does a certain cultural/biological background give you free reign to murder people, not because you're naturally violent, but because you're offended?

Ever wonder why the Salarians, instead of trying to forge an alliance, were going to aim the Yahg as a weapon?

The Council first contact team came down and acted as equals, which is a sign of contempt for a newcomer to the Yahg. Basically, offering for them to become inferiors pissed them off, much like it did much of humanity.

Yes, they shouldn't have killed them. But, it was at least 60 years before the Reapers, the Yahg are very intelligent, and would be able to realize an alliance with the Salarians, who are at the time the most powerful race in the galaxy, would be beneficial.

I always found it strange how the decision chamber music is called 'Wake up'. I know the Catalyst says it if you have a high enough EMS but even so. Odd.

Resolution. We fought as a united galaxy. I am alive, and I am not alone. I will watch over those who live on. A future many will never see. An end, once and for all.

Wake up.

Das Malefitz. The evildoing. The Shepard incident.

Why can't they canonize Destroy?

The thing you're suggesting sounds unbelievably awful. That's really your best-case scenario?

What's odd about calling the music "Wake Up" when it's for a scene that starts with the character waking up?

I do not believe that the IT is what Bioware intended. I do think that they were trying to operate on the level, not with the symbolism or implications IT requires.

I do, however, think that IT is a valid, and perhaps even preferable, interpretation of an ending that was initially intended to be at least partially ambiguous.

The main problem I feel with IT that no-one ever addresses...

1039_morbo.jpg

INDOCTRINATION DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY!

Remember what the Codex says about Indoctrination:

Organics undergoing indoctrination may complain of headaches and buzzing or ringing in their ears. As time passes, they have feelings of "being watched" and hallucinations of "ghostly" presences. Ultimately, the Reaper gains the ability to use the victim's body to amplify its signals, manifesting as "alien" voices in the mind.

Where does it say that victims get a "pick a colour symbolic of your mental state" choice? It makes no sense.

Hell, Shepard doesn't even have any of the indoctrination symptoms other than whispers and those are only in Shepard's dreams. And no, the kid does not count as a "ghostly presence".

This has been pointed out many times. It usually gets ignored.

Just like the low-EMS destroy only/control only situation.

the IT-crowd is big on pointing out to others how they 'paid attention during the game' (unlike you, apparantly)  and 'found evidence' (unlike you, apparantly), but when a point is brought up against IT they put their fingers in their ears and go 'lalalala I can't heeaaaaaaaaaaaar you'

Or they do that other thing they do and grasp at straws. Like how Shepard's idle animation occasionaly has him/her glancing around and that's proof of how Shepard has "feelings of being watched".
