I made the mistake of updating to windows 8.1 this evening and now I am getting an error message when I open the toolset which says:-

 

"Unable to initialize the graphics engines. This can be caused by the DLL missing, other required DLLs missing or the wrong version of Direct X installed."

 

The dialogue box then goes on to advise me to run the configuration program and verify settings. I did run the "configure toolset" utility which is saved in c:\Program files\Dragon Age\Tools but it doesn't seem to have worked.

 

In the past I have occasionally had this issue (with Windows 8 and prior to that with Windows 7) and after a few tries it has resolved itself...but this time it seems a little more permanent.

 

Any idea on how I can get around this or do I have to attempt a reinstall?

I restarted my computer and the toolset is working again....

Cool ... I saw your post and tried out my own toolset:  glad to say it worked for me too
