What about going for as short a CDT as possible, as well as 50% bonus power, and just cannonball everything? Using scorpion to plop extra lolz everywhere?
Coordinating all of those talents is difficult for the Vol-Clan. It has been known to cause them to fart, sneeze and hiccup - all at the same time. May I remind you that the Vol-Clan wear pressure suits?
In all seriousness, I think they were trying to make the class fresh and fun and breathe life into it.

I believe a guy named ToLazy4Name made a very detailed Volus guide a long time ago; you should go look it up.

Then don't read his guide, and just use the build that Moby gave and the strategy that Pearl gave.

Ah ok. In my head it read like "that guy, pshaw". Interpreting tone in text is hard.

Don't use reegar. Use claymore or wraith. Then you will enjoy using the kit.

I already tried out the mini Destroyer build. The Venom was annoying to use because of how short I was.

Nut punching ball of death is the most fun for me... But if you're not after melee, a striker/falcon for 'splosions is kinda fun

Here is the entire guide:
Slap a reegar on it.
He's a pinball. Play him like one.

pretty much. That's the exact thing I want to avoid.

His guide states that the Reegar is the most effective weapon on him, it doesn't say you absolutely have to use it. The Reegar is the most effective weapon on ALOT of kits, but it's not required.
Wraith, Claymore, Hurricane, Talon, Venom, and alot of other weapons are effective on the Volus Vanguard.

I've only really used him as a nutpuncher with BatGauntlet and Talon... but, in theory, a Mattock might work (it's what I use on the Phoenix Vanguard) if you want to try something different.
It's nicely accurate at range and reasonably light... so you could slap on Incendiary ammo and fire at stuff to prime then you've got BC or Orbs to detonate depending on whether it's a target you'd want to risk charging or not (Banshee/Praetorian spring to mind). Not sure how effective it would be in reality though.

Thinking about it seriously I remember I dropped into a pug awhile back, and somebody was running him with the crusader. Absolute beast, everything on the map was wrecked.
Actually, I think I'll try that.
