4 VAs?
Yay, I love having less content in exchange for two voices I'll never use.

Its just about the only sort of appearance they could make that I would be entirely comfortable with: A story with an unreliable narrator, ideally a playable sequence.Oh. Now I understand.
That could probably work, though you'd have to point out who the Warden was otherwise they'd just look like a random NPC...
Let me clarify again: The original German text only says that Hawke and the Warden won't be playable companions. If you're so inclined, you could also interpret the wording to mean that they might make an appearance. Which is completely intentional since Bioware have left that possibility open. Lost in translation and all that.
You know, with this 4 voice options thing. I'm not sure how right it is, but it could be just picking if we'll have an accent or not throughout the game. I wouldn't count that possibility out yet until the developers clarify a bit.

German is just weird Dutch. I'm sure the German people feel the same way about Dutch! ![]()
That said thanks for clarifying what the text exactly said.
Yeah, they also should get rid of female pc's, so they only need one VA. Perfect idea! *sarcasm
I was talking about the extra male and female voice, I'm fine with two VAs (I'd be better off with no VAs, but BioWare seems to insist on having VA'd PCs), but 4 is just silly.
It means they'll have to pay four actors to read the same lines instead of just two, wasting money and resources.

All they have to do for the Warden and Hawke is ask you what race (for the Warden), class, gender, and fate they had then generate their own appearance, sure it won't be "your" character, but that's something we'll have to live with, I imagine they'll use the default for Hawke and a random generated appearance for the Warden (if your Warden is even still alive). They gave a canon face for Revan in Old Republic, so it's not like it will be groundbreaking stuff. I'm just looking forward to seeing them at all.
Its either that or a matter of deepness to a voice. I expect they would want the option for a stout muscular Qunari/Dwarf warrior to sound different from a petite elven Mage. You know, with this 4 voice options thing. ... but if there was only one voice actor for each gender, people would be screaming about Bioware being lazy.
They're literally damned if they do and damned if they don't. Provide too much content and people say it's a waste because they'll never use it!

Fenris sound more muscular than most "muscular" people. It all comes does to preference.

Everything optional is a waste of time and money, but thats what rpg's are about. Both genders, multiple races, choices that lead to different narrative paths, all of that costs time and money. It's up to Bioware to decide where to spend it.
Which is why it's an option, not tied to race.Fenris sound more muscular than most "muscular" people. It all comes does to preference.
All I really want to know is if we're going to spend majority of our time in forests and all that

I love when people assume resources and money used for a feature they dislike would have went into something else if the feature didn't exist instead of simply not being used at all.

Thanks. I found strange that there would be a confirmation so soon. I think Bioware has something special prepared for Hawke and the Warden (and remember, it's the Warden-Commander of Ferelden; if the Hero died, I'm pretty sure the Orlesian Warden will appear as a zombified killing machine be mentioned in one way or another).

The strange thing about Gideon Emery his that he is cast for "elves" in all freaking games I play. Ok, it works for Dunmer in the Elder Scrolls because they are more "worn", but Sylvari in DA2? They are plants and the oldest 25 years old!

Actually in Skyrim I think he voices Imperial soldiers, not Dunmer ![]()

He does in Elder Scrolls Online along with some Altmers...

Oh I see; wow, they just can't get enough of his voice ![]()
I for one am EXCITED!!!!! to see a second voice option! That first voice was sooooo DEEP and macho and mature. Here's hoping the second voice will work for my inquisitor better.

Emery is really popular when it comes to voice acting. He is everywhere!
I'm not too sure what to think about the two voice choices per gender personally. This mean 4 playthrough at the least (one with each) to find which one I prefer.
Reading these previews is making me really, really optimistic about Inquisition. I think Bioware knew that people would probably be unsatisfied with only 1 voice so 2 for each gender certainly gives options. I'm kind of curious about what the other voice will sound like considering the one we already know would sound really weird on an Qunari in my opinion.
And I read on page 3 that someone said the Keep doesn't allow you to customize your warden/Hawke's appearances. Maybe I'm being too optimistic in the face of all this good news but maybe that's a thing that's going to be added as the Keep moves out of beta? I'd be kind of sad if we DIDN'T see Hawke or the Warden after Cassandra specifically brought the Warden up in DA2's ending. Then again, they could be talking about a different warden entirely considering he/she is popularly known as the hero of fereldan now.
