I would love to see how this works in the game.

I wonder if it'll be a la ME3 two people arguing and you have to turn around and pick a side (Or if you're me, stubbornly refuse to no matter how many times you hear the same few argument lines over and over again). Or like in the DA2 DLCs where your Hawke responds depending on their personality. (I loved this, my Hawke never said anything out of character. But I know some people really didn't like it.)

I'm curious as to how different the voice actors will end up being.  Will they receive exactly the same lines, with the same direction?  If so, will they really seem all that different?

I hope they are different , not the lines but how they are spoken or whats the point  ?

Well, I think they dropped the personality thing (meaning auto response based on previous dialog choices), so maybe more along the lines of ME3? Not really certain though so your guess is as good as mine. :)

LOL!! Well okay different but not ridiculous.

For DAO I always go with the first voice option, "wise." I find the others really grating. Especially "sultry." YUCK!

I always choose that one too :D I never understood why they wasted all the options with over the top voices no one could take seriously.

Nothing else was said about customization, was it?

I'm wondering if we will be able to change some of the Inquisition symbols. Or colours. Not that the current choices don't look badass or smart, but sometimes I get the feeling that the Inquisition looks very villainous. Apart from the large eye engulfed in flames and hammered by a sword, all in friendly-looking black, white and red tones, I remember the demo video and the option to build a statue symbolizing the Inquisition: a closed fist holding a spiky semicircle. Very reassuring :P

That's a nice detail. It's a bit hard for me to play different characters with the same voices, they end up sounding strange to me. With this I'll be able to play four without any problem.

"Look out for the Oblivion Gates!! (oh, sorry I meant Dark Anchors). Man this is very disappointing. The game is getting dumbed down a lot, what the hell happened to the realism, and urgency, the Dark Fantasy?! They are ripping off the elder scrolls games like crazy. This is becoming some high fantasy cliche that repeats the same kinds of game-play quest mechanics. Casual gamers are destroying rpgs, I swear after skyrim they decided to turn exploration into boring strides, back and forth, sometimes just to clear the inventory which is very annoying. Spending hours on pointless generic quests with no ties to lore and rewards that are disappointingly questionable . Even PS2 rpgs were a hell of a lot more fun and original than these rip offs. Ever played Rouge Galaxy? Basic but very awesome.

In the discussion on all of this stuff that was happening in the twitter thread, someone said that in the article it actually says the inquisitor can interact with party banter.

After that I got too excited and had to go calm down, but it's nice to come back and see all the discussion.

They already did that with Hawke in the DLCs. And it worked pretty well if you ask me. I'm looking foward to see more interaction of the Inquisitor with party members outside of the dialogue wheel.

When they confirmed the ability to participate in party banter in the PAX demo, I'm pretty sure they meant you, the player, could actively participate. More exciting than giving Hawke a few banter lines.

Lots of exciting new info!  :wizard:  Definitely awesome to have 2 voice options per gender, as I did not allow myself to hope for more than 1 each.

It's great to hear more about companions too. I love the name Solus.

Not sure about the rumors and speculation surrounding the Warden and Hawke appearing. I was hoping their stories were done, and we wouldn't see them again. If BioWare does decide to bring them back in-game beyond a codex entry... I dunno. It's hard to imagine that turning out well, but the writers are clever people and I'm sure they could find a way to make it work.

I'm so freaking excited! I wish time would go faster! :pinched: :P

also the only thing that could ruin the series for me would be bringing back my former characters and randomizing their appearance, ideally i would want to design them in game again, but i could also live with the helmet/hood solution provided they at least get the gender and, in the wardens case, race right.

I'm torn about the Warden and Hawke appearing. On one hand I've been fiercely adamant that Bioware should resolve their stories after the cliff hanger they opened up in DA 2 about their disapperances. On the other, I was hoping they would somehow address that without actually putting them in game. They're walking on very thin ice here, so many things could go wrong, but I'm sure they're aware of it. I'm nervous but intrigued.

The best part of having the ability to close/Open Fade Tears is being able to say:

In regards to the 2 voices per gender I hope the elf will have the option of accent and no accent. Sorry but I cannot stand the dalish accent but I really want to be an elf again too.

Y'know, if the Inquisitor has some sort of magical Fade tear opening power, wouldn't people be kind of suspicious of him/her...well, starting the whole damn thing in the first place? :S

Sure, but since you're STILL the only person who can close them, and you seem willing to do that, people don't have much choice but to trust you, do they?

I feel like I'm talking to a wall.

Like I said before so many times, you can probably customise their appearance in the game itself.

I feel as if this would break immersion.

Varric: ...Andraste's -insert vulgar word about a body part here-, I thought I saw the last of you...

Cassandra: I-it can't be!

*Hawke slowly turns around, as as his/her face is revealed to the group, sudden character creation screen pops up*

Wat. And I think it would be even more awkward with the Warden.

Hmm. I don't know. If it is true, we shall see what happens. Then we shall initiate either screams of horror or elation. Or both.

I believe they said that people ARE suspicious of you but i just assumed that up until now it was because you were the sole survivor of the tearing but maybe that's only part of it...

... yes, yes it is a gaming elitist and/or troll?  :P

I'm only kidding though. I don't want to start an argument, but if you do want to have a civil debate about it PM me so that we can keep it out of the forums.

Annnnnyway...

On topic:

I'm glad about the fade tearing opening power thingie. There's not a lot more romantic adventure wise than the unwilling hero archetype, but also it adds an explanation as to why the Inquisitor is only 19-30 years old and is suddenly the head of an entire organization. I'm assuming they get this ability during the accident they're the sole survivor of at the start of the game, so it'll make sense if they're not a mage - just the wrong person in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I think the fact that you are actively working to close them kind of proves your innocence.

It's actually quite interesting, as it definitely explains how a Dalish Elf/ Qunari will be able to become the leader of such a powerful organization.

Maybe we get to choose what the inquisitor will say in banter too? Like, the wheel pops up and you get to choose from various options, or ignore it altogether. Of course that might be very hard, and maybe annoying for the players too, to work in.

I'm pretty confident we won't be able to decide anything about the appearance of our Hawke and Warden.
