I can understand not wanting generic replacements. However as Gaider noted, they're either going to do it or their not depending on what they think the story needs. All we can really do is try to have faith in their judgment and react to what they actually do, rather than imagined fears of mistakes they may make.
Ein...ver...standen.

But I will know it sooner mwahaha!
Anyway, such as I understand the voice thing is:
At character creation we get a pick of two voices for our character for each gender. I understand it as these four voices cover all races.
And adding that cameo was totally unnecessary and made a lot of people mad. Importing your warden or Hawke may be too difficult and resource consuming so maybe they'll figure "hey, go with the straight white guy again, that's what most people want anyway." When playing SWtOR I liked the parts with the Revanites and the infinite engine because the references were vague. I didn't expect them to import the Revan I played, but I didn't expect her to just be thrown in the trash either. That "cameo" made me want to throw up and I if it happened in DA:I it would be an instant dealbreaker for me.
Star Wars isn't Dragon Age and Dragon Age isn't Star Wars.
In the case of Revan, it's been known for a decade that LucasArts requires a canon for their universe, so Revan was never going to be allowed to exist in an ambiguous state where their gender and actions and alignment were undefined.
Dragon Age isn't like that - the devs have said multiple times that our canon is our canon. The comparison is wrong, and shouldn't be made.
It amuses me that this thread is 23 pages long and the whole article isn't even out yet.
Well the Twitter-thread had hundreds of pages only fueled by vague tweets nobody could understand. It isn't that out of the ordinary. ![]()
Ha! I like your outlook Sir or Madame!
Apparently the indoctrination theory had the right idea.
To bring up IT is heresy. Out with ye!
I know 8 voice actors is costly, but if SWTOR did it, DA:I should too. I would hate to hear the same voice with a dwarf and an qunari. And I think they can have the same dialogue choices as long as they put the time and effort into it.

I don't see how SWTOR is relevant. No import means that it isn't my Revan or Exile anyway, doesn't it?
Your Revan and Exile doesn't exist in Star Wars canon, unless it follows that exact canon

reading the OP, and loving the stuff for the your SkyHold. Map room; customizing, even a garden for alchemy if you wish.
while reading it i thought that i would also like music. music in my skyhold. maybe a small group like in the taverns. singing a bard's tale, perhaps w/lyrics i can understand that help to recount DA-verse lore. or the exploits of the warden/hawke/inquisitor.
music out in the front area or dining halll somehwhere at certain times. entertain the troops in their off time.
I love plants, so I'm pleased by the gardening possibilities.

Well for starters, you pick your voice on character creation. If you want to have different voices for your qunari and dwarf, you can do that.
And SWTOR had one of the biggest development budgets of any videogame in history. It is not remotely reasonable to say that just because it did something, DAI can, or would, or should do the same. They're different genres, in different markets, targeting a different audience, at different times.
~sigh~ Skyhold. Four VAs. Multiple races. I can feel myself being dragged onto the hype train. I may have to hurl myself off soon lest I develop the dreaded disease - Unrealistic Expectations.

SWTOR, like most MMOs, has something non-MMO games lack: a continuous, monthly income stream from paying subscribers.
Until the MMOs, games could only get your money once (at purchase) and then maybe from subsequent DLCs, add ons, micro transactions, and expansions.
Your game budget can be a bit different when there's a potential for a guaranteed monthly revenue stream to EA.
I can feel myself being dragged onto the hype train.
Come on, ride the train. (Oh wow: discovery, this board auto-embeds youtooob video? I'm learning something new everyday.)
The problem of "limited choice in voices" can be mitigated somewhat with the addition of voice pitch option to the character creator like in SR 4.
Not really, no.Given that DA:O had mod-support and that feature still is actively perused to this day, isn't it still more than a little back-handed move on BW's end to invalidate something as basic and crucial to people as their PC's appearance in later sequels (and not due to putting a few creases on them)?
The questionable purpose of the former PC's appearance has been pointed out, as well, and that has got to do with more things than just their complexion, hair-style and eye-colour.

No it can't. You can only shift pitch very little, after that anyone can notice the unnatural 'robotic' tones here and there. If you've ever played with sound effects, you should know that. Aslo, pitch alone does not change accents, tempo and manner of speaking. Pitching down soprano does not make bass.
That's a very poor feature, imo.
Not really, no.
Bioware didn't make these mods, so they are not obligated to account for them in future games.
The only thing Bioware could be held responsible for is if the mod toolset, and even then it's just a *free* gift from them to the fans, so they'd be perfectly within their rights to just shrug and say "sorry guys, we can't help".
Strictly sticking with CC-mods, like the ones you mentioned:
I don't know how Bioware plan to implement the Warden/Hawke's appearances (if they appear), but I can say that there is no way to import a modded character which uses third-party assets because the game would not know that it needs to import Pineappletree's Vibrant Colours textures, or Tucked Hair's meshes, etc.
I wouldn't be all that surprised if those were things users could manage to implement in DA:I too despite there being "no support" for mods. Time will tell, but I'll just choose to be optimistic about that.
It might be possible to recreate a modded character using the CC, but you would have to accept that you will not be using the same mods and so the character will not look exactly the same.
There you mention something else: transition from one engine to another. In the case of DA:I's being based on Frostbite, that means a more radical departure than we had between DA:O and DA2, so even ignoring mods the end-result may look too off for comfort to individual players, even considering the time-frame between DA:O and DA:I. Even Mr Gaider acknowledged the problems with this.
Add to this the problem that players did have significant control over DA:O's PC whereas in the case of that PC's appearance in DA:I that control would in all likelihood be stripped off them, and one can be forgiven for being at the very least skeptical about this.
Mods are not a right, they are a privilege.
I see them as enrichment to my games in about every way, be it visuals, gameplay or just plain flavour. If that makes me an "entitled whiner" - how quaint to see that brought up by another user - and "privileged", so be it.
