SWTOR, while technically a sequel to KOTOR, doesn't allow a player to load saved data in order to influence plots.  From a practical standpoint, they had to create a generic Revan for SWTOR since it was a multiplayer game.

No they had not!!

As much as I hate KOTOR2, among very few good things it had was 'KOTOR1 import', same as NWN2 addon could 'import' things from NWN2 OC.

Heck, even NWN1 had a way to seamlessly transfer a romance between the chapters ( no flags, AT ALL), and HotU was built so that there was a high chance to match your Hero of Neverwinter (oh how I laughed when I discovered how it works...).

To put it simple - there's always a way to create a believable illusion of the 'persistent world', with no save and flag imports. Hopefully, DAI devs still remember those little old tricks...

I'm also a console player, which is why I intend to access it via my computer. The PS3 browser is an awkward thing. :P

And it sounded like the Keep was something that was meant to be accessible even on mobile devices, so I definitely don't see them fitting a CC in there.

Oh yes, the PS3 browser. At one point that was my only window into the Internet. That was... hell...

I kinda thought there'd be a free downloadable content gig for the Dragon Age Keep which would install as a "game" on consoles though, instead of making it all web-based. But maybe not? I dunno how that'd work, so yeah... maybe not.

The Warden will appear as some kind of Darkspawn, overcome by the taint.  This removes any need for appearance imports or character-appropriate voice acting.

I'm totally OK with this, actually.

I can hear the screams from here though.

There are probably technical reasons why that wouldn't work... and practically every household that has a game console is going to have a computer/phone/tablet that can access the internet, so it's virtually universally-accessible if they make it browser-based.

Hawke has sadly become an abomination; years of living in Kirkwall and experiencing the madness of that city has weakened their mental resolve and made them susceptible to possession.

It's very sad.

The Warden would turn into a ghoul, not a darkspawn. And last time I checked, they still have faces.

Those cries are so loud they travel through space and time...

I wonder if Gaider took advantage of this to measure which decision would be the one that will give him more tears to enjoy.

[Applies new lore, explaining away the necessity of a recognizable face]

Works like a charm!

Alternatively:

[Goes to artists, asks them to mock up a few concepts showing a ghoul's face so scarred by the taint that they're no longer recognizable]

It's a far easier hurdle to clear than figuring out how the hell to faithfully import everyone's Warden, give them a voice they don't hate, and reconcile the numerous ending states our Wardens could have left DAO/A in.

You're probably right.

Hopefully it'll work okay on an iPhone 4 with iOS 6.0. If not I'll just figure it out at the computer lab; they have shiny new PCs over there and I totally downloaded a comic book reader on one last night so I can presumably map all of the 30's decade of the Dragon Age with one too.

Loot Hawke for Force Mage Pants.

Loot the Warden for Morrigan's book, which is sadly illegible.

And if you try to bring Morrigan her book it incinerates itself automatically.

As the Warden slipped into ghouldom, they jammed their head into a deep friar in shame. The sizzling hot oil melted their face and increased their cholesterol levels.

Very sad.

Seriously, can we mark the spoilers, guys? Some of us would prefer not knowing about the IHOP (Iconic Hot Oil Plot) until we actually play the game.

I imagine them as the classic shy/mute and translator duo:
The Warden makes a gesture/mumbles something, Hawke jokingly explains what he said.

So much want.

Why would the Warden become a ghoul? I thought that was the whole point a of being a warden, not being able to be corrupted by the Darkspawn. For Hawke that might work (please, don't turn her into a broodmother)...

Edit: Yes IMO Hawke is always female...  :P

Drinking the Joining potion only delays the Taint and corruption, you will eventually become a ghoul in 10 to 30 years.

But if the Warden is working with Avernus I presume they're working on ways to stop it completely and not become a ghoul. That's what my Warden would do anyway.

Presumably they would've wandered off to do The Calling beforehand, though.

I think it's best not to rely on a translation of a German article to start frenzied speculation on whether the Hawke and Warden will be in the game - and from what I can tell, the original line is ambiguous anyway. Its main point was about Morrigan.

Eventually all Wardens will become ghouls, which is why they go on the Calling to suicide themselves.  The Joining only slows down the taint process, but it doesn't stop it completely.  (Fiona is the only Warden known to have been completely cured, but that was a freak occurrence.)  The lifespan of a Warden after the Joining ranges from 5 to 30 years.
