I intrepreted the second concept art as a minor lord becoming vassal to the Inquisition.
"My sword is yours" and all that.
BTW, is it just me or does the Inquisitor's sword's pome look remarkably like Anduril's?

Same, i was hoping this meant that we would be able to manipulate smaller factions after defeating them
Those artifacts are called... swords.

Going by filenames it appears to be titled "Surrender". And the other one "The Dig"

The pommel is designed like the eye in the Inquisition symbol.

Me too. But what if both are artifacts? Some magic swords that are the key for the Crucible whatever the Inquisitor needs and the Inquisition has to collect them? Instead of just becoming a vassal, the scene would be about "here you have the artifact you were seeking, please don't hit me again!".
But it's just a wild guess. Probably, they're just swords. Or at least the second one is.
The thing in the dig site picture really doesn't look like a sword to me. Aside from the sticky out bits - and admittedly gratuitous sticky out bits aren't uncommon in fantasy weaponry - it seems kind of round?
edit: Some sort of oversized key?
The first image does look like some sort of a key type thing. Perhaps something along the lines of the DA:II Legacy story? Battling with a locked away ancient evil and all that jazz.
The first one looks like an ancient clarinet of doom.

Beware its power

Plus, it looks to be made of wood and thus, not very sharp.
