I find it funny that it's merely an "option", and not the railroaded default. Why give option to embrace the Qun among the fanbase? It's like encouraging everyone that being a drone in 1984 was a good thing.

"If you force choice, it is not choice." - Sarrebas

What a crock of sh*t. People need to be saved from this nonsense.

Lol
Sorry to disappoint you, but some people do like qunari society

You don't have to apologize for disappointing me. I'll let you have the opinion at least.

That's the difference between me and qunari. :D I live in my own world, and just wish people lived in theirs. They're not content with simply being "disappointed" in things though. Everything must shaped, categorized, and "fixed".

Good to know me and you live in different worlds ;)

Very un-Qunari like for you to say ;)

You sure you actually like them?

I'll be less contentious for a second, but just say I'm genuinely repulsed. I don't like anyone who makes claims on "reality" and "nature" itself, and claims everyone else is simply denying nature. It doesn't have to be Qunari. It doesn't even have to be about fiction. It could be Catholic, Islam, Baptist, some drunk I meet at a bar, whatever. Every once awhile, I run into people who are "certain" of the true nature of life and reality, and I can't get away soon enough. There might be cool things about Qunari culture, but it's the claim on nature itself that annoys me. How arrogant can you be.

My best bet to grasp reality is experimentation, I think. Trial and error. Probabilities. Scientific method. And some chaos to boot. I don't know if Dragon Age has anything like that though. I'm on my own.

I don't really care how you feel about anything and I don't see what it has to do with Iron Bull
I'm religious yet I love science. For me everything is possible yet nothing is certain

I hope he will be able to make up his own mind in the end.

I mean I would say to some poor city elves , Ok go to the Qun , things might get better.

But it seems the Iron Bull is a grown man who can take care of himself just fine.

I'd rather have the Inquisitor helping him with whatever he decides , if he wants to go back to his people or not.

Im confused, why does someone else philosophies bother you to that extent? I find it intriguing that they believe so strongly in their way of life, especially since their society runs far better than any other nation. They dont suffer from the same issues economically or socially, they believe everyone has a purpose, no one is useless (as im sure some Orlesians will disagree with) they accept everyone. Yes they may be oppressive with in itself is a big deal but the philosophy itself contains a lot of great things.

I dont see why them refusing to accept anything else "repulses" you when they have a great thing going already.

As for the Iron Bulls situation, its nice to see the Qun have some leniency with his role with them

This. Existence is a choice
Whether Iron Bull chooses to return or turn his back to Qun is up to him
It certainly will be a fascinating story. He seems to be an opposite of Sten and Arishok

It isn't about philosophy. It'd be nice if it was that simple. They believe their "philosophy" is the natural order itself. That anyone who disagrees is artificial, denying their nature, denying "what is", and they must be corrected.

It isn't about opinions or worldviews. But Certainty, with a capital C.

But that is the entire point of philosophy..

They believe one thing, you believe another. Either brings you a degree of certainty if you adhere to it.

I told you what I believe above: Skepticism. That requires no particular adherence, nor moves me closer to any degree of anything necessarily.

But this isn't about what I believe. It's about not being able to actually converse with the Qun. There is no dialogue or debate with someone who claims "Certainty". Might as well bang my head into a wall.

It's not a "philosophy". Philosophy is still summed up best by Socrates' famous words. "The unexamined life is not worth living". Qunari do not examine. They simply embrace. And enforce.

Philosophy breeds examination, debate, refinement. There is no refinement when you already grasp all of nature and every single little tiny detail contained within. You just say "No" to anyone you claim is outside "nature", and act like a jerk.

Sten wasn't named Beresaad though. I doubt his actual title was Ben Hassrath.

That is categorically incorrect regarding the Qunari. They examine EVERYTHING and they reach conclusions through these examinations. Their certainty arises from the conclusions they draw from the examinations. And the Qunari does indeed debate with themselves and refine the Qun over time.

The Qun is not nearly as static as so many believes.

They should never make claims to Certainty, if they are inclined to refining concepts and definitions.

It's rather strange to say this though. It's not like a Qunari to play around with words.

They should never make claims to Certainty, if they are inclined to refining concepts and definitions. They should never condemn something seen in the world as "not part of Nature" if they themselves aren't all that sure what the nature of things is.

It's rather strange to say this though. It's not like a Qunari to play around with words.

The irony is that you condemn their certainty, while conforming to your own. The real issue merely seems to be that your personal philosophy is almost the opposite of the Qunari.

You seem rather certain about all this.

I'm only certain about "tentative truths", situational reasoning. I know f*ck all about the nature of the universe, and I will never claim otherwise.
