There was a general discussion about the Qun before i posted. I didn't just come in randomly. I was replying to something Han posted.

Is it really so awful that I "talk" about something Qun related for a bit. What the hell. It only carried on because you guys keep insisting things like the above.. that I'm "almighty" or superior or trying to "enlighten" you. That's just way off. What I want is someone who can talk about the Qunari. And defend the idea that someone actually holds the "Truth" (with a capital T). I want to know how that's appealing. To me, the idea of "sole purveyors" of Truth is horrifying.

This isn't about superiority. But fear. It actually scares me. lol

I had a good discussion with EmperorSalertz --- and I closed it on a good note. I LEARNED something from him. And then you came in just to attack me. It could have already died off, but I was just reading. Now I have to reply.

I'm trying to be as nice as possible. I don't hate you, I don't want to insult, I didn't call you a bad person. You don't have to be nasty.

So to be more OT, how do you think IB's Qunari-ness will be revealed? Will we know right from the start he's Ben-Hassrath? Will our Inquisitors just automatically assume he's a follower of the Qun? Or will he play up the Tal-Vashoth thing and then reveal it later once we've developed more of a bond, like Leliana did in Origins?

So to be more OT, how do you think IB's Qunari-ness will be revealed? Will we know right from the start he's Ben-Hassrath? Will our Inquisitors just automatically assume he's a follower of the Qun? Or will he play up the Tal-Vashoth thing and then reveal it later once we've developed more of a bond, like Leliana did in Origins?

 

The fact that they have revealed that he is Beh-Hassrath already makes me think it's not a secret because it kinda ruins it if it is but they described him as Tal-Vashoth before. I guess our pc probably won't know as much about the Qun as we do though so they may not even see the difference.

Maybe he will continue to spread information about our quizzi in secret, but will stop later on if we'll bond with him. But then we'll find out that he's been stirring up some qunari against us and there will ba a dramatic scene like in game of thrones when

Ok, but fun aside, I find this reveal very interesting. I love characters with internal struggles. The fact that he's starting to question his own motives shows us already that he is going to grow during the course of the story and will become a three-dimensional character (hopefully!). I want my qunquisitor to argue with him about his ideals plz. Or they could philosophize about the purpose of life.

I love me some philosophical debate in RPG's! I like being able to have some influence on a character's outlook on life, as well. Kaidan and Ashley about xenophobia, Alistair about putting himself forward, Leliana with her faith and her past...

The Iron Bull has a lot of potential. Considering mercenaries are generally regarded as dim-witted and care only about money, he'll certainly be refreshing.

I think I'd like it if Djimon Hounsou were IBs voice.  It wouldn't be as obvious or gruff of a choice, but I seriously love his voice and it would be great hearing him be a bawdy type.

[DRAGON AGE]: What was the The Iron Bull’s life like before the Inquisition?

[PATRICK WEEKES]: The The Iron Bull was a Ben-Hassrath internal agent on an island controlled by his people, the Qunari, but threatened by rebels and agitators. Imagine the Dragon Age equivalent of a federal anti-terrorism unit, and you’ve got the basic idea. When things got hot, he was the one the Qunari sent to handle the situation.

 

[DA]: Sounds like demanding work. Although, judging by his character design, he seems up for the task.

[PW]: True, but nobody can handle a job like that forever. When the The Iron Bull burned out, his superiors moved him to what most people outside the Qunari think of when they imagine the Ben-Hassrath: spy work in other countries. He was told to set up a mercenary company, take jobs from nobles, and pass information back to the Qunari.

 

[DA]: How does he end up with the Inquisition?

[PW]: The official reason the The Iron Bull joins the Inquisition is that his Qunari superiors want to know what the Inquisition is doing. Qunari have a pretty dim view of uncontrolled magic, and a giant hole in the sky is about as uncontrolled as you can get.

 

[DA]: And unofficially?

[PW]: Unofficially, the The Iron Bull sees demons attacking innocent people, and he wants to help. He knows the Inquisition’s agents would uncover his ties to the Ben-Hassrath, so he’s opted to save time and be completely up-front about his work. If the player can handle the The Iron Bull sending reports, the Qunari agent can get the Inquisition valuable information in return from his spy network. 

[DA]: How would you describe the The Iron Bull’s character?

[PW]: The The Iron Bull is casual, friendly, and confident. There are very few things in the world that he can’t kill if he needs to, which puts him at ease most of the time. He’s got no need to compete with anyone or prove himself, and he doesn’t need his ego stroked. What he does need are people he can trust to watch his back and friends he can laugh with. After surviving years of ugly, nasty fighting, the The Iron Bull has learned not to take anything too seriously. Unless it involves demons.

 

[DA]: Why demons?

[PW]: The The Iron Bull has a thing about demons.

 

[DA]: What sets the The Iron Bull apart from the other followers in Inquisition?

[PW]: The The Iron Bull really loves life outside the demands of the Qun, now that he’s gotten used to it, and he does everything big. He overeats, drinks himself sick, and will hop into bed with anyone he’s reasonably sure he won’t break. He’s been close to death enough times to appreciate life whenever he has the chance.

 

[DA]: How does he get along with his fellow companions?

[PW]: The The Iron Bull is a relaxed, friendly guy who gets along with just about everyone. He loves talking shop with Cassandra after battles, for example, although he’s a lot more enthusiastic about chopping people in half than Cassandra is. He also gets along surprisingly well with Vivienne, who keeps him in line when he gets too boisterous.

 

[DA]: You said “just about everyone.” Are there people that he doesn’t get along with?

[PW]: The only folks the The Iron Bull has trouble with are those who go looking for fights about the Qunari. He isn’t trying to convert anybody, but he’s not going to apologize for his way of life, and people like Varric, who saw the Qunari at their worst in Kirkwall, might take that the wrong way.
