The Iron Bull was a Ben-Hassrath internal agent on an island controlled by his people, the Qunari, but threatened by rebels and agitators. Imagine the Dragon Age equivalent of a federal anti-terrorism unit, and you’ve got the basic idea. When things got hot, he was the one the Qunari sent to handle the situation

 

Thatt's... kind of a positive spin on crushing internal dissent in a brutal dictatorship.  I mean, seems like you could say KGB as easily as you say "federal anti-terrorism unit".  I hope the opportunities for the Inquisitor to make more hostile responses to his past are done well.

 

There's also an obvious degree of hypocrisy, given that he's living and enjoying a life that the Qunari would never allow within their borders, which I trust will be addressed.

Just gonna restate my reasons for being adamantly against racial romance gating;

 

1: Sends the message of condemning interracial relationships.

 

2: Completely arbitrary limit that adds absolutely nothing to the game. Preferences are nothing but the result of the random flow of hormones in our brain. They don't affect our values, our behavior, or our personality. As such, adding preferences based on race does nothing but limit's the player's choices and gives the character in question a meaningless quirk.

 

3: The only exception to #2 is in the event that the restriction is based on a degree of racism on the part of the character. Not interested.

My argument against number 1 is that with Qunari there's a reasonable concern that relationships might not physically work especially for the smaller races. It said in his Bio hill jump into bed with anything that he's reasonably sure won't break, if he's too stressed about breaking smaller Inquisitors the relationship is gonna be tough.

 

Also I don't believe it, but we've finally found a character Varric won't get along with, I'm impressed. Then again the Qun again Varric have a bad history, both in the games and in the comics.

It said in his Bio hill jump into bed with anything that he's reasonably sure won't break, if he's too stressed about breaking smaller Inquisitors the relationship is gonna be tough.

 

Also I don't believe it, but we've finally found a character Varric won't get along with, I'm impressed. Then again the Qun again Varric have a bad history, both in the games and in the comics.

 

I think that it's absolutely ridiculous to think that a qunari is biologically too big to mate with the other species.  They aren't that big.  They appear to be about 6 1/2 feet tall or so.  There are humans in real life that are the same size as a qunari.  Elves are just skinny and bit shorter than humans and dwarves are thick and study and just a foot shorter or so. 

 

Seriously, in nature, size differences of that magnitude are pretty damn common.

I CANNOT wait!! I have never anticipated a LI so much! >< If he even is a LI. He could just want to lay around and not devote. Which is cool, I guess.... Hell, if I followed the Qun all my life and suddenly had free reign..settling down would be the last thing on my mind, too. Urgghhh, and he had the most Qunari-centric job ever; a Benny-Hassy D; I doubt he'll just leave the Qun for my Vashoth.

I'm playing a female qunari, so that reason means nothing to me.

I understand the fear, but there are other... ahem... methods of, uh, copulation? Good god that sentence was painful to type. That whole "but I'd break you" line would be such a huge cop out.

Am I the only one who thinks "anyone he can't break" bodes well for all Quizzy's? I mean, we're presumably going to be pretty badass and combat hardened by the time we meet him. If legions of Red Templars cannot hurt me, he's probably not going to either. In fact, he'll probably be attracted the Quizzy for that reason if no other. Kinda like how Zevran was attracted to the Warden's power, regardless of gender or race. Maybe we'll get a token "You sure I'm not gonna hurt you?" if we're not Qunari, but I don't see it being a deal breaker.

Maybe it will be a friends with benefits thing? You don't get a full romance achievement for it, and as long as you put a stop to it before things get serious with another character, you can pursue other romances at the same time? But you still get sex scenes and special dialogue?

Yeah, Street Magic, I was just responding to another poster who said that his personality doesn't fit with a full-on romance. I think he'd be a great LI. Unconventional, yes, but that's part of the attraction.

After all the info that has been released for him I am pretty damn excited to have him as a companion. And if he is an LI My Inquisitor is going to take him by the horns and climb him like a tree

As usual, I'm going to talk about the Qun here. And think his interactions will be more interesting about that. Not how violently he can bang an elf.

 

Well, his eagerness to bang elves (and others) would illustrate his complex relationship with the Qun
