Glad to know you speak for most gay men, jerk.

While I am a fan of Iron Bull and so don't necessarily agree with that poster, I don't think we need to call him/her names ;)

Wasn't that da2 kossith that hung in the bar considered a tal-vashoth, and same with all the mercenaries that ran around? I don't think they were really fighting the qun, but still considered tal-vashoth.

Maraas said he was no longer Tal-Vashoth. He left them, just as he left the Qun. That's why he was such an interesting character to me; he really wasn't sure who or what he was now. I really felt for him.

Late to the party, but he is the one companion that I'm interested in so far. I love varric but he's a known quantity, Cassandra is established, and Viv appears to be the French Margaret thatcher with a love of sass and shoes(pass). But this could be something exciting. Kind of hoping for him to be like the Arishok or Wrex, or somewhere inbetween.

Why not both? (Or all three) together?

"Ok I'm back from adventuring- By the maker, Iron Bull, Solas, and grey warden man and Cullen, what did you do to my bed and why on earth did you use my bed instead of one of your own?"

I mean we don't really know what our companions get up to when we don't take them with us.

Fixed that for you. ;)

It's difficult to know what he looks like because we only have a side view of his face. But as long as he isn't a man-child, I'll be fine. I only ever really found Anders attractive (out of the guys), but his personality put me off and I ditched him.

Also, I kind of want Iron Bull to enjoy sniffing flowers like Ferdinand.

Well, there definitely seems to be a call for, if nothing else, some variety among the male LI's.

Iron Bull seems to have a certain rugged appeal, perhaps even an animal magnetism(see what I did there?), that many of the male romance options have lacked up until now.

I just think he looks unattractive, roided out (like burnt out/pudged up from roids), and fugly in the face. Compare him to Arishok is, I feel, way more handsome.

If he's to be an LI, what a disappointment. Physical attraction is important to me - sorry, but I'm not going to lie. I won't have a romantic interest in a character I'd sooner friend-zone. Variety doesn't have to imply lowered standards. Why don't the female companions look fugly? They both have stunning bodies and they aren't bald, fat, or missing a damn eyeball.

it's just all my opinion...

So question, has his real name been stated?

Does he even have one? Or I suppose if he was raised in the qun his name would just be whatever his rank and profession was....so he might not actually have a 'real' name beyond Iron bull.

Given that I think he left the Qun of his own volition, I'm betting that Iron Bull is the name he chose for himself.  It's safe to call that his "real name."  What makes a person's name?  What you are given at birth or what you make for yourself?

I guess I don't consider his role in the Qun to be his "real name," since that's more a rank/a role than an actual name of a person.  Could we find out his former role in the Qun?  Damned good chance of it.

Good point. I guess if Iron Bull is the only name he considers important than that's his real name.

Although if he was born outside the qun he may have a more traditional birth name.

Assuming he was born into the Qun and left, I'd imagine what he used to do/who he used to be is probably tied into his past catching up to him.

It'll probably be pretty interesting.  For all the presence that Qunari have had in the last couple of games, we haven't gotten very much on their inner working of their society.  We know more or less how the Qun is set up, but we don't know what day-to-day life is like.  I know something went horribly wrong in his past, according to the tidbits that have been translated about him.  Which only state that he had something very tragic in his past.

He's Tal-Vashoth and traveling with the Inquisitor.  My first reaction to that when I saw that line was, "Um, duh?"

Iron Bull doesn't look like the member of a boy band. That in itself is reason enough for me to want him as a romance option. That's not to say that I necessarily loathed previous romance options, because I didn't. But lets be frank, they all follow a familiar trend; they are fairly young, attractive, clean shaven(with the exception of Ander's stubble) and all full of passion, but lacking in the wisdom that comes from a few more years under the belt. Maybe Iron Bull will break that mold?

Since the overhaul of the Qunari design in Dragon Age II I've been a big fan of them. The Arishok was one of my favorite characters. Iron Bull doesn't look as cool to me at first glance, but how I view a character will change as their personality comes through. I have high hopes.

Maybe he used to be a baker but hated it so much he ran off, but the qun sends out people to capture him because oh my god his scones are just fantastic.

Heck he's a dragon age companion. Which ones don't have a bit of world wearyness and tragedy in their past?

He's a BioWare companion.  I haven't played all of the BW games, but I did play BG, NWN, and NWN2 prior to the DA series.  Damn near all of the companions have had a tragic past.  Doubly so if they are a love interest.   Varric was one of the few that didn't have one, but DA2 fixed that nicely with the betrayal of Bartrand.

I would have said BioWare but I'm woefully inexperienced with any of their games beyond the dragon age series.
