I'm so glad we have more Iron Bull fans now. There was only a handful of us for a while keeping the thread going, and look at it now.
Before E3 and the various info updates, we had little to go on besides the name and a rather ominous comparison to Oghren. I was seriously put off by that. I mean, drunken flatulence jokes are fine, but we've been there before. E3 changed that, at least for me. The guy has a brain, even if he occasionally marinates it in pickle juice. He's a Ben Hassrath, and that isn't a job for morons <insert Alistair's "Who says morons can't be adorable?" joke>. I can take crude humor, but that can't be all there is. His banter with Sera shows a cheerful, easy-going enthusiasm for violence, yes, but it's an informed choice made with full awareness that there are other ways to do things. He isn't a mindless brute who beats things to a pulp because he's too dumb to do anything else. And I like the imagery of a Qunari being influenced by his surroundings, not trying to force everyone around him to adopt the Qun. I like how his intellect is large enough to encompass the thought that the Qun and a zest for life are not mutually incompatible ideas. So no, I can't say that I liked Iron Bull all along - he was actually the character I dreaded most - but I like him very much now.
