To be honest, if that's the case, it either wasn't conveyed in the game very well or was an afterthought to their lore. All the Desire Demons that we've encountered thus far seemed entirely female.
At any rate, to get back on topic...I, too, am beginning to wonder if Iron Bull is a possession survivor.

That's probably more to do with engine limitations and the like in the earlier games than anything else. I would've thought his PTSD had something to do with his mercenary company or fellow warriors been shredded by demons against Tevinter instead or perhaps dealing with the atrocities committed during the Exalted Marches?

Oh, believe me, I know a thing or two about the technicalities of Desire Demons. I have been on the forums, following and engaging in discussions of Dragon Age since 2008, before even DA:O came out. 
They were meant to show up in a body and guise that fit the person's desire, and Gaider talked to us in ye olden DAO days about how a male desire demon model was too many zots at the time. My comment wasn't meant to be serious.

Time for my PC to roll his Willpower save. Though really, I'd rather see Iron Bull rock that outfit.
I always felt that Weisshaupt in the fade should have been tailored to the warden's origin, as not all of my wardens are as dedicated that early in the game. The dwarf noble could have seen their family alive, happy, and intact, the dwarf commoner could have seen Rica formally married to her patron and Khala the picture of motherliness, the mage could have seen themselves become first enchanter, etc.
Maybe they'll do that this time around, if we get lost in the fade in the same manner. Wonder what Iron Bull sees in the fade?

I could see him really conflicted about having to go back to the qunari to live after spending so much time enjoying life, so if the demon wanted to keep him happy, it would supply him with these temptations.

I agree, I think it would prey on his biggest doubt, which is seeming to be his loyalty to the Qun/his home. Or perhaps a nightmare revealing his "past" which led to his insecurity/PTSD in the first place.
