At this point, I honestly don't think we'll see the Qunari invasion ever come to fruition. No doubt it was a potential story arc, but I think the gears have since shifted and the Qunari are going to be portrayed more heroically in the future, what with their popularity and the fact that we can play as them now.

I seriously hope that isn't the case. I still think there is potential there, and we've seen how the qunari bide their time. They still seem intent on spreading the ways of the Qun. I wouldn't count out that arc yet. It may not happen immediately, but it still is possible.
I don't think that once we play a race that they are obligated to put it in every game thereafter (although they could still keep qunari in, just have them be Tal Vashoth). The writers could just as easily move us to Tevinter or Antiva or wherever and have us take on the qunari. In fact, I would bet that if they become popular in more areas of Thedas, that would become the catalyst for the qunari to invade. It would prove to the qunari that the rest of the lands are ready for conversion.

To be fair, I've threatened to kick party members over less serious offenses than subscribing to the belief that all mages should be mutilated as a means of control.
Edit: Also, update on the Iron Bull curse; this time, the Romance thread being closed was not at all proceeded by discussion regarding Iron Bull's endowment. The curse has been broken.

The writers had no problem showing us the less savoury side of the Grey Wardens after we spent a game heroically playing as one. I don't think the popularity of a race or the fact that they're playable in one game will prevent them from being the aggressors in another. If anything, the DA team seems to love showing us the good and the bad in every side of a conflict, and making us more sympathetic to them before we have to fight them sounds like their style.

I dislike this it's tempting me to romance Iron Bull with a qunari mage instead of a dwarf like I planned. Stop it I don't have the will power for this ![]()

They're not obligated, sure, but as we saw in the transition from DAO to DA2, taking options such as race selection away from us was a heavily criticized decision that I doubt they'll make ever again. Especially considering that tons of folks had been clamoring to play as a Qunari ever since DAO (it's the main reason why the option became available)...I highly doubt the devs are just gonna pull the rug out from under them like that.
Plus the devs themselves have an obvious love for the Qunari and were quite happy to finally open them up to the players, putting forth a special effort to make it happen.

You do bring up some excellent points, but I'm still sticking with my theory that the Qunari invasion arc will be wrapped up without it ever happening. It's just a gut feeling. We'll see which one of us is right in the future.

New loading screen we haven't see yet... I think...
So do you think this pic is just using Iron Bull because he's the most familiar qunari to us in this game or is this actually a little snapshot of him back when he wasn't being sent off to human lands to relax?
(Also man, look at the different hornstyles on those folks. I hope we get to choose them all)

As for the discussion of the playable race/Qunari invasion plot, we're not playing a Qunari, as in the religious affiliation, we're playing the race, qunari. Or kossith, for contextual clarity. We could just as easily play an Andrastian kossith in a future plot about the Qunari invasion. Would people maybe view you more suspiciously? Sure, but it's not like playing a mage, or elf, or even qunari now isn't cause for concern among the majority. I don't think having the race available means anything to the context. There are Qunari that aren't kossith and kossith that aren't Qunari.

See, this is why we didn't see his face for so long. And why he was out in the rain in one of the early trailers.
His face was covered in bird crap and he was trying to hide it.
Mystery solved!
