I have no problem with alike couples, but I have more fun when there's some learning and compromise between two people. To me that feels like something that makes a relationship deeper.

Just because people are alike it doesn't mean they can't learn to compromise
Try pairing two Scorpios and see them either kill each other or learn to tolerate
And it definitely doesn't make a couple less deep :\

I could understand this, if it was about personalities, but you guys were talking about a relationship between Iron Bull and a mage, no? Their personalities could be super compatibile, just their view on magic isn't.

I wouldn't say a mage romance would be any deeper than a "normal" romance, it's just more problematic and would conflict with Iron Bull's feelings more. Any extra inner-conflict within a character makes me happier, because it's exploring their character by using a slightly different direction. I guess that's why drama in games is fun?

Being a warrior or rogue though, is surely just as deep as any other romance. I don't think there's any reason to worry about that.

Both?
Drama is fun but only in proper numbers
Drama everyday drains you like an old lemon

Yeah, that's a better way of putting it than I said. Deeper probably wasn't the best way to describe it, but I see more potential for dialogue that explores his feelings on mages, which I like the idea of.  ^_^

Meh, I usually prefer to pick couples with alike personalities
Never understood the charm of slapslapkiss ships beyond a little fling or basic chemistry. It's almost unhealthy
I mean, what's so wrong with a cute couple of Kossith who don't despise Qun but don't blindly follow it?

Nothing wrong with it! Or any other type of preferred pairing combination anyone chooses to engage with in their playthroughs. I was simply stating what I know I enjoy and what I don't, I wasn't attempting to make a blanket statement that implied one if better than the other.

Like I said, for me, fictional relationships of any kind (romantic or otherwise) are an escape from reality or rather an alternative way to look at reality that I don't get to experience in my own life or those around me. I'm overwhelmingly likely to only hang out or choose relationships with alike personalities in my own life, so I want to explore something different when playing an rpg.

Everyone should play the way they want, there's no right or wrong IMO.  :)

Decided I was going to romance the Bull on one of my female playthroughs, probably with a dwarf(haven't picked rogue or warrior yet).

A dwarf that'll look as much like Bianca as I can make her in the character creator.

Because I can be evil at times.

Read that and at first thought you meant the crossbow maybe I should put the coffee down now.

Dwarf I'm planning to romance Iron Bull with first.

May switch her to rogue though if the party gets to unbalanced.

I intend to romance him with a happy-go-lucky Dalish mage; he'll have fun teasing and picking at Bull's opinion of mages and how "dangerous" they are, ooooo! :P

I agree I'm also planning a playthrough where I will romance him with a Qunari Mage because there will definitely be some drama about the Qun and in this case even mages

I really hope that romancing him as a Qunari in general will have some new exclusive dialouge etc.

I'm planning to romance him with a Qunari mage, just to see how much more complicated the relationship will be with a mage.

I'm considering romancing the Bull with a male human warrior or a female qunari mage. Of course, if I like him a lot I might end up doing both  :P

It's a good movie. I actually just watched it again last night. :)

I'm wondering if there will be any drama though I suppose it might end up being like a Fenris romance then.

If it's like Fenris romance, I hope more light is shed on the consequences of romancing a mage. Now I liked the Fenris rivalry romance and I think it showed great character development within the scope of the game, but I did end up feeling like Fenris was a bit of a hypocrite in that he seems to side with mages only because of Hawke and not because he's seriously questioning his extreme stance on mages. I'm not saying anti-mage characters should do a 180 when romancing a pro-mage PC, but I'd like to see change of extreme opinions affect more than just the romance. Similarly it would also be nice to see an option of a 110% pro-mage PC move towards more of a neutral stance when romancing an anti-mage.

Honestly, I thought it was strange at all that he would even romance a mage Hawke (and I say that as having done so) because he is so hostile to anything magic. I am just hoping that if Iron Bull is anything like that (we don't really know how he feels about the whole mage issue after all), then the writers are able to do a better job than they did with Fenris.

I hope that we can change characters' minds even without a romance, but I agree with you on the shift. It would be very nice to see them softening or hardening over time.

It's been a while but from what I remember Fenris did make allowances that not all mages were bad and his views were warped by hate by the end. Especially if your Hawke was a mage, thus giving him a good example right there, but you didn't have to romance him. I do wish it was a bit more overt and not contained to dialogue with Hawke, though.

I think Iron Bull's stance on magic is a big question mark but my guess would be he doesn't hate mages but hasn't questioned the Qun's stance either. It sounds like he's at a crossroads so it would make sense that he questioned the parts of the Qun that affected his daily life but not the rest (yet).

Fenris romancing a mage in and of itself wasn't something I had a problem with. I could see him overcoming his prejudices to that extent. It was him romancing a bloodmage that I had problems with.

Bull's had ten years outside the qun to influence his views on magic. It'll be interesting to hear how those views evolved.

Hmm. I'm not entirely sure Bull will be too conflicted about being with a mage. If you look at his reaction to Cole the Wonder Spirit, he was pretty chill.

Based on what little we have, he seems to not care, so long as he knows you're on the same side.

He seems like he doesn't care but would be mad if you criticized the Qun anyway, so that might still be a problem for mages.

Yeah I don't feel his reaction to mages will be as extreme as Fenris's stance on them. His lifestyle currently already breaks the Qun, so what's being with a mage on top of that?

Well there's a difference between being on the same team as a mage and romancing a mage.

the Qunari Male Inquisitor looked badass in the gameplay video and even though the Iron Bull is still taller

I'm looking forward to romance him with the Qunari Inquisitor
