I'd really prefer they go with DA2's fade-to-black scenes rather than turn the game into porn like The Witcher did. I don't see a purpose to the Mass Effect-style clever camera angles approach either when fade-to-black is both simpler to animate and far more tasteful. But that style is still superior to the painfully embarassing Origins approach.

Fade-to-black establishes the characters had sex. That's all that's needed and the details are best left to the imagination. Explicit sex or nudity-for-the-sake-of-nudity serve no purpose beyond titillation. It's gratuitous at best and objectifying, degrading, and offensive at worst. "Adult content" does not mean maturity. Often it's the complete opposite.

I'll admit The Witcher is the most explicit game I've ever played in that respect, but I don't think they will go that far. I liked Mass Effect's way of doing it where there was a scene but it was tastefully done, and the nudity was hidden. To be honest, though, it doesn't really matter that much to me in the long run, I prefer the dialogue in romance over anything else.

I personally hate fade to black since it doesn't show the intimacy a couple has.... you can avoid it by pressing esc. There's your 'fade to black'.

Seconding this, because it wasn't the 'porn' or whatever people may call it that bothered me about those games, it was exactly this.

As long as this "tasteful nudity" is equal opportunity, then I'm okay with it. I'd still prefer fade to black though, just because I am always, always taken out of the moment by the sight of stilted, Gumby-limbed makeout sessions in burlap panties.

...I wonder if his becoming a reaver was the thing that traumatized him. Qunari seem to have a big thing about being 'tainted' by exposure to magical things. While he may not think just being around an uncontrolled mage is a big deal if he had to take dragon blood into himself and make it part of himself that might genuinely freak him out on a very visceral level. Maybe he had to do it to save a group he was with.

 

Or maybe I'm misreading this and he thinks dragons are great and have nothing to do with his ptsd.

 

Of course isnt' there also that rumor from the comics that the qunari are elves who got some weird merger with dragons or something. (Or at least their formation had something to do with dragons)

My only thing is that I think if they write a scene that calls for nudity then they shouldn't shy away from showing it. The main example I point to is Samantha's romance scene from ME3 where she's taking a shower in her bra and panties.

 

For that matter I'm not a huge fan of the after-sex scenes where the couple is lounging about in their underwear.

Will, did you expect both characters to actually really truly bang each other in the scenes. Like real humping and such? 
I imagine the scenes to be more about just touching, rolling around the bed and kissing each other (like that Liara-scene) without showing anything. All that accompanied with some emotional, instrumental music - like always.
Expect Iron Bull, of course. Naturally his love scene will be accompanied with some T-Pain.
