What is this talk about IB's romance being sad? Stop that talk right now!

 

Seriously, I think people are just getting themselves worked up over nothing and reading waaaay too much into things.

I can't speak for anyone else but most characters I tend to like end up in pretty sad affairs, dropped repeatedly onto wooden stakes over and over until they died, shot and bleed out to death in their child's arms, torn apart and eaten by a she demon, literally falls into the pits of hell and kidnapped by demons, being used in a pawn of a much larger game for personal power, die of radiation poisoning, falls to their death, etc.  So I'm cautious towards ALL characters I'm drawn too already

Maybe he doesn't have to return home one day.  If we draw the comparison that Weekes made to Christianity:  Would a holiday only Christian choose his/her faith over his/her love?  Maybe, but maybe not.  I think there is leeway for IB to either extend his time away (with no intention of ever returning) or flat out leaving the Qun altogether if he thinks it conflicts with something he cares about more.

Oberyn was a pampered noble living off of past glories and hype.

 

When he met a real warrior the field, he was killed.

He pretty much had the fight won till he messed it up

Well, we can only hope Iron Bull's not that blindly confident to turn his back to a - let's say - freaking demon on the ground, or something.

I don't see any resemblance to Oberyn actually, aside from his sexual preference and maaaybeee his confidence. Did I miss something?

Debatable, He used Poison, his weapon was incapable of penetrating anything but the joints of the armor and to top it off?

 

The Handful of times Gregor got close, Obyern was tossed about like a rag doll, it's more like he used poison to cheat his way to victory, and the natural outcome happened anyway.

Pfft, That fight had a victor.

 

I dislike the notion that just because Gregor died a week later, Obyern somehow sucks less.

Obyern obviously wasn't used to fighting someone who could wear a hundred plus pounds of plate, a sword longer then most people and then use a shield atop it.

 

His choice in weapon revealed as much, it's like trying to penetrate a tank with a .22.

But is he a reaver? I thought I'd read we could choose our companions' specialization.
