Lawd have mercy! Look at those forearms!!!!

The Devil has several symbols that is present in the Iron Bull’s card, most obviously being Bull’s horns, whether that’s relevant or not I don’t fully know. Bull is holding a skull and a bag of gold coins, those being symbols that are almost always in representations of the Devil card, no matter what deck. Skulls are symbols of change and also represent power when held. Gold is a physical object and can be associated with greed as well as being overly invested in physical matters, instead of balancing body and spirit. The Devil is a card about vices and restrictions. These restrictions can either be metaphorical or literal. In Bull’s case, both seem to apply. He is still living a life at least partially influenced by the Qun, while also being separated enough from them to question whether he enjoys serving under them. The other side is based more around pleasure and potential addiction to base pleasures, such as sex and alcohol, both of which we know Bull is partial to. Another aspect about the Devil is power and abuse of power, as well as fear of losing any strength one might hold over others. Conflict is a large part of the Devil card and it’s largely about being unable to choose between physical or spiritual pleasure, or being too caught up in one to see the benefits of the other that is missing. Overall, it’s an extremely passionate card that relates largely to uncertainty of self and unwillingness or inability to balance matters of the head and the heart.

That new picture is now my phone background.
He's so gorg.
@Yinello: Awesome find, thanks for sharing. I think it really fits what we know of him so far. ![]()
This is quite refreshing. Despite the new info and all the enticements of the other romances, with each new reveal the only thing that has shifted concerning Iron Bull is the severity with which I shall hit dat. It has increased exponentially.

And might I say, his Tarot card is probably my favorite out of the companions...maybe tying with Cassandra's. He has some bone structure.
Squeee!! Same ^^ I love that comic, AND I'll be playing an elf, so... I'm really hoping they will be quite lovey dovey and romantic together. I know he is a bed-hopper, which is kind of a turn off... but maybe he meets the inquisitor and falls in love with him/her, and that causes him to change his ways. That's kind of what I'm hoping for
Cause I would really like a sweet romance in this game.
I'm not bothered by previous bed-hopping, but especially not in Bull's case. He was born and raised Qunari, and they don't really do romantic love. So it makes sense to me that physical gratification would be more easily understandable to him at first. I'm hoping love will hit him like a ton of very confusing bricks, and we'll get to watch him awkwardly (but happily) flounder through it. I'm assuming he's going to change his ways because I believe the devs already said we could only have one romance at a time.
Eeee! This talk is getting me all excited! And we got a new picture! ![]()
Lawd have mercy! Look at those forearms!!!!
And we all know how to get big forearms like that. ![]()

Lots of time hefting the um, staff of violation
.
And for the thighs, long rides on the bull in the saddle.

I saw this and instantly thought of HTTYD2 ![]()

I thought he had the Inquisition symbol on his eyepatch in the E3 demo, but i looked more closely now and it was not the symbol for the Inquistion
aw! Too bad.
sup fellow IB lovers. had day off from work so i had some time to do this.
*snipping awesomeness for size*
PS: I own nothing here but the writing and some of the design. Everything else is the property of their individual owners.
That is so cool! Great job! ![]()
and may I say "Oh hell yes!" to the new IB pic. I so made that my wallpaper on my phone. ![]()
His face is looking mighty fine.
And I just love the eyepatch. I'm fond of a few other eyepatched characters myself, but I've never seen one quite like his before.
Lawd have mercy! Look at those forearms!!!!
I know right! It's going to be damn amusing seeing the gay romance play out between him and my Dwarf Inquisitor.

Spoiler
Great, now I have change my female Qunari's name. Thank you inspiration. ![]()
I'm thinking that this new picture more or less confirms that we can give him different eyepatches (at least, it doesn't look like the first one we saw in the demo). I hope we have the option - even if its in a romance-specific cutscene - to see him without one, though. Mike Laidlaw on twitter pretty much said that there's no tragic story behind the wound so I don't think IB would be self conscious about it.
Edit - actually, I think the eyepatches are identical... The blood smears were throwing off the shape. Here's hoping there's an option.

Qunari don't need a helmet when they have a magic eye patch.
He lost two fingers?
I was very curious about this, too. But a dev has since assured us that this wasn't the case...
Q: so pretty much the majority of da:i fans just noticed that iron bull is missing some fingers, will this be explained in-game??@User: I have no idea what you’re referring to. He has all his fingers.
Unless he's lying to us, or isn't aware of it himself. However...
- Why would he do that, though? We have eyes -- we can see in some of the concept art that IB is missing those fingers. Telling us that we're not seeing what we're seeing, that we're misinterpreting the art somehow...and then come to find out later that IB actually is missing fingers. That would be a total insult to our intelligence.
- It's highly, highly doubtful that he'd be left in the dark about any details of the game.

So, basically, it symbolizes Iron Bull being unsure if he wants to be tal-vashoth or qunari.

I think the missing fingers is also symbolic. I've searched a few websites and these are some descriptions (though most of these apply in dreams):
of cut-off fingers can announce a success for which one must make, nevertheless, personal sacrifices. Who loses a finger, that could play a wrong note in the awake life.
A hurt finger indicates difficulties of your own making. A cut finger means some unusually hard work ahead. A lost or missing finger predicts legal troubles concerning money matters. A very short or stubby finger signifies new friends.
If you see what you have on hand is missing a finger, it predicts a loss of respect of friends or colleagues.
There is a fear of losing some important ability or mode of expression.
Considering what we know of Bull, the 'losing something important' part or even having already lost it (his former self? Before he had a breakdown) might tell it best.
Are you sure his fingers aren't just curled under to support the skull from underneath?
