I'm def not anti-hypersexual. Isa and Zevran are some of my favorites.
It's just seemed weird to me, but perhaps I'm overthinking it.
LOL I do love FPJ's enthusiasm.

Hmm... Safeword, huh? Moving away from the sexual implications alone, I may be reading entirely too much into this, but for people dealing with PTSD it's pretty common to want control. Complete control, and to not let anyone have control over you. It was like that for me at the peak of my PTSD, at least.
So if Bull is suffering from PTSD, and Prinze Jr's advice for him is safeword, then it may be possible that Bull could extend a need of exerting control in a environment where it would be wanted and safe to do so.
Well, hopefully it's only a joke. I'm not interested in a BDSM romance. I mean I'm only given two options here; I would hope they wouldn't be so extreme and over the top.

Hmmmm, expanding on that need for control...perhaps Bull hates demons because they have the power to remove that control from people via possession.
Btw, thanks for sharing! I really like the way you added that extra bit of nuance to our discussion!

Obviously it's a joke. They're not gonna do a BDSM romance. I honestly believe that while the sex is gonna be hot as hell, Bull's romance is gonna be very romantic. I'm very excited to see how it all plays out.

Well, it could always be a reference to his size and strength rather than BDSM. I mean, a non Qunari does need to prepare for a Qunari lover. Armor and a pry bar I believe Sten said.

If it is, hopefully it's optional. My Zhenya Cadash may take another look at Blackwall, but I'm willing to wait and see what they have in mind. I'd be a bit surprised if they openly go that route, especially with one of the two ungated romances, I took it more as a joke myself.

Yes, I took it more as a reference to the someone he's sure he won't break than to BDSM.
Hope you guys are right ^^ I can only hope at this point that the flirt options are at least a little bit sweet, and not all super raunchy and over the top. Because I would have to play my inquisitor really ooc to make those kinds of flirts, and that would kind of kill the fun (because it's very not me).
I guess so far we haven't had a DA romance that WASN'T sweet, so there's that to hold on to. Isabela's love scene was a little lacking in... feeling... but she does seem to fall in love at some point.

I think Sten was just trolling the hell out of Morrigan lol.

Could be. PTSD is a lot of; "If only I hadn't let that happen..."; "If I was just a couple of seconds quicker..."; "This wouldn't of happened that way if..." It's a lot about the inability to change something, and an inescapable sense of helplessness, so you do everything you can to keep things in control and in check, because if they are, then things won't get FUBAR'd.
So the idea of something taking away your control of yourself is awful. Not to mention that you're already inclined to see people as neutral hostiles, at best.

Yeah, same.

I'm pretty sure he was too. And it worked ![]()

Interesting. I wonder how the Qunari view such complex things...perhaps they thought that being in the homeland was part of his problem, and so sent him into the rest of Thedas to clear his head?
And I'm so excited to see Bull's character develop in response to his PTSD and if we can help him at all. He's probably one of my top 3 characters that I'm most interested in befriending.

That's a much kinder reason that I was guessing. I kinda thought they were giving him a working retirement. I'm hoping you're right.

True, maybe spying as a mercenary was their way of letting Bull retire for services rendered.
Should I start posting Ashaad-Seamus stuff while we wait for new Iron Bull content to reference? Or is one enough since it isn't their thread? d:

I admit, I like having one romance option who (at least apparently) openly enjoys their sexuality. I also like having at least one somewhat shy, very sweet romance, and so on. Which is to say, I like variety, I guess. I don't know that I want super raunchy, but I enjoy having the option of a companion who does make off-color jokes, etc.
Not sure I'm entirely making sense, it's very late at the end of a long week, lol. I guess I'm lucky that I don't have such set ideas on what I want that I can't enjoy all the companions at some level even if there are a couple I'm particularly looking forward to. Myself, I'd be a little uncomfortable with a romance that was too stereotypically romantic - my reaction to overly romantic/smooth is distrust, oddly enough, I wonder just how sincere they are. I'd rather someone be completely honest, even if it's "I think you're hot, and I'd love to have some fun with you" especially if they aren't offended at "thanks, but no".

That and that the Qunari never waste anything. Even if he was too scarred to continue in his previous role, they would surely find a use for him somewhere. It may be both actually. There's also some banter where Sten says to Zev, "We were sorry for her, that she thought only some people were important." So perhaps they sent him off to make use of him without breaking him.
