So I found this image of Iron Bull which I'm going to post at the end of this rant with like a ton of warnings for stupid reasons. The image may be nsfw, but really, it's just topless Bull, and I mean, he's been topless everywhere. I fell that the warnings would mostly be needed for people who cannot stand to view body fat, or hair, but he looks like a person, and the longing in his expression is great, imo. Also, fair warning that his nipples are pierced, if that sort of thing bothers anyone. It'll just be a link in spoilers because I posted an image of side boob semi-recently and got 1 warning point.

But after seeing the image, I was really unsure about how I felt about it, whether I found it attractive or not. I think I just might have been shocked that he wasn't the standard image of strength that has been built into my brain, and that he was more World's Strongest Man in appearance. I've decided I like the image, though I wouldn't say it is sexy or sexual in nature ... just ... "human." If you know what I'm saying. I'm eager to see his in-game model for myself, because there were a few media releases where he did look like he had a warrior's gut, versus that first image we had of him from behind, in which I kind of remember of him looking lean in his huge muscles.

Back on topic (or off topic, I guess). If I ever feel bad about finding any particular feature or person attractive, it's only fleeting, but I appreciate the support that you've offered me and others through your words. (:

 

See, this is going to sound strange because it's fanart of a videogame character, but that image immediately set off all the primal mate bells in my female lizard brain. It is completely human, or realistic even... as realistic as giant bull-man can be, I guess. I have a hard time liking the majority of the art done for him because he's depicted as slender or super cut. This piece is beautifully refreshing.

I like that pic, it makes him look like a man. Personally I'm not a fan of any of the cross dressing or feminine fan art of him. My interest in IB was because he screamed Alpha Male. None of the romancable males in DA gave me that vibe so I stuck with Leliana & Isabella but now I have this big behemoth to call my own.

As for his level of physical attractiveness I can say that I personally like what I see. I love the big arms, strong chest & masculine facial features. I don't see the big guy trying to flirt with everything walking but I'm sure a few dirty jokes will be said & I'm okay with that.

Haha, sorry but that doesn't sound like Iron Bull. From what we know, he is going to be like Isabela in the sense that he indulges in things like sex and drinking for fun, a lot. He is gonna be alpha; Not "quietly sexy and complex and mysterious"... with sweetness? Maturity? lolwut...  Nah... I'd be soooo disappointed if Iron Bull acted like that. A male qunari Isabela would be awesome. Isabela struggled with some inner emotions she tried to hide, and I'm sure bull does too.

Lol i see your point ;-) i think i may be letting my romantic side run rampant when it comes to bull. A girl can wish that somewhere in that rugged exterior theres a big marshmallow heart B-) you just have to roast it over the fire a little before it melts ;-)
All i want is for iron bull to not be so... isabela and perhaps a little more.... garrus? Dare i say it?? Garrus was freaking awesome. Iron bull could be a super badass garrus-like character. I could see that happening! Tbh i kinda see sera as being more isabella-like.

I like big guys, definitely! But he's "too" big... he seems overweight, with steroid-like muscles under the fat. And his head is teeny tiny, and the horns are HUUUUGE. To top it off, his disturbingly human face isn't even handsome, AND he's bald! Let's not forget the pencil thin mustache lol

 

Remember though, I AM a fan!!! And he has to be my primary romance since I'm sort of out of options (No Dorian for me, sorry; he makes Bull look like Brad Pitt in my eyes, lol!)

The question was actually meant to be open, but the clarification on it not being about being qunari was for Artemis because I wasn't sure if it applied to you, trying. (:

Others were saying they had a hard time hearing Iron Bull and not FPJ earlier, and when they gave it another try with their eyes closed and then looking at IB instead, they found this helped. Maybe that will or won't for you, but it might also be that alpha / beta facial animations they were using in the cutscene they were showing off. Otherwise, you're entitled to that opinion, I was trying to be helpful but am worried I came off preachy. I'm not trying to change your mind, just ... gah.

As for his arms to legs ratio. That statement made me giggle. It reminded me of this guy on the bus who I thought was good looking until I saw his legs and realized I could wrap my puny hand around his ankle. I felt Bull looked balanced, but am not always sensitive to chicken legs. I'll keep an eye out for it, because I'm curious and don't expect it to influence my gameplay experience. He's a picture of chicken-legged Hugh Jackman for your amusement / disgust. d: But generally people aren't balanced, this is a completely acceptable reason to find anyone unattractive though. xD

I know I'll get used to his voice soon enough :-) and while I don't think he has chicken legs, I just think his arms are weirdly ginormous....

 

His scarred, gruff face is also a bit scary, but I guess that's part of his appeal.

Yeah, I can totally understand all these points you made (even though they haven't really concerned me too much, but then again I haven't seen many examples in game yet and try to remain hopeful). I think his huge horns may only add even more illusion to his head looking small, but even without them I do hope it doesn't still look that small in-game after launch. (I hope they've tweaked his looks a bit, and from what we've seen of other characters like Solas, and what they've said on Cass, I think there's a huge chance they probably have) I don't mind the huge muscles at all, but one effect of that is the 'small head' look which admittedly isn't attractive to lots of people. I just hope his head is normal size when compared to other companions, that's all I ask.

 

The baldness doesn't bother me but I will say I agree that his face isn't traditionally attractive (although it's of course subjective), and I wouldn't have minded if they kept the signature 'qunari' look from DA2 as long as they kept the variation otherwise and still gave us different faces, skintones, and hair. That was really my only beef with DA2 qunari, they did look really awesome, but they were all practically clones which was kinda disturbing. I chalk it up to the lack of production time that game had, though, not because they wanted that to be the case.

 

All in all I do like Bull's body, as I've said I'm a fan of muscles, both on men and women - but I can totally understand people's points on his looks. I'm just really too excited for  qunari romance (heck even just finally another qunari companion!) and the potential awesomeness of his character to let it override my hype for him, haha.

I am also excited for a qunari romance! Tbh I was soooo relieved to hear that he was still part of the qun. I wanted a qunari who was either still part of the qun or had left it (like Maraas... ). I definitely didn't want a LI who was like our qunari PC... nothing to do with the qun at all.

I really fall for noble characters like that. Which is why I am wary of Bull's apparent bed-hopping tendencies and "not a care in the world" mentality.

It would be refreshing for our first confirmed pansexual character to not be a total bed-hopper, I hear you there. I can understand it a bit in my head... like coming from the Qun into normal society would be crazy, I can see many people slipping into a hedonistic kind of life after being banned from such things for so long. I do envision this hopeful scenario though, where a romance turns him completely loyal and devoted. It might take a little ways into the game knowing his character, but I see it happening.

The Chantry first enlisted the player Qunari as part of a mercenary contigent to keep the peace at the Conclave. It shows how much the desertion of the Templars and the Seekers has affected the Chantry that it's leadership must rely on mercenaries for such an important matter. At any rate, means that the Chantry (and by extent the Inquisition) would have a passing knowledge of the important mercenaries in the area. The Iron Bull and his men were likely prime candidate for the role of hired peacekeepers, although their reputation for "misbehavior" might have seen them put aside. Lucky for them they did not take the job!

 

Best lead I can guess.

Good point, while it says qunari mercs were sent to keep the peace between mages and templars, the DAI Inquisitor page doesn't specify that the Chantry hired us.

I kinda think of the inquisitor meeting iron bull on a particularly tough mission that no matter what you do.... goes wrong and you and your whole party get knocked out. But it doesen't end your game. After a round of cursing you look up and see your tv is a black screen fading into a cutscene.... your quizzy is waking up just at the right moment to see...... *THE IRON BULL* all by himself laying waste to your enemies!!!! Awesomely. So he kicks all their bums rather easily and just when he's walking over to check on you, the screen fades to black again. AND CUT!! ;-) lol.

I mean, think about it. Iron bull needs to join the inquisition for his mission, so it would make total sense for him to maybe follow us around for a bit without us knowing.... see our quizzys leadership skills to see if we are worth joining. When he sees us get overwhelmed, of course he would help us out. What better way to introduce yourself and almost guarantee a place in the inquisition... than to save the inquisitor? Unless your inquisitor is an ass and doesn't let him join lol.... poor bull :-P

Yeah, I mean there's good reason to be wary of Bull even though I know I'm recruiting him and he's one of the characters I'm most interested in probably partially because of that. But I understand some people's hesitation. Personally I'm not going to miss out on anyone my first time through (or ever, really). I want to see what's up with all these characters for better or worse. xD

 

Also, that's some lovely fanart Yin! I'll have to remember to give it a like when I get mine back. That Inquisitors hair is amazing.

As soon as I saw him I was hoping for he was a bit like Garrus too lol. Your badass best friend you eventually fall in love with.  I can't wait to see how their friendship and or romance plays out Coming from a big time Vega fan I was so stoked to hear he was a character in them game and I could romance him! I swear I must of watched his character video a few dozen times lol.
