There is nothing more vague and subjective than trying to "make the world a better place"

It can mean anything, literally. People have different ideas about this "better world"

sooo I just came across this...obvious spoiler Iron Bull Sexy time

 

 

Well, I'm a stright guy but I feel the need to romance Iron Bull just for that scene. Its so hilarious. lol

Okay, I have a bit of a possible spoiler regarding (possibly maybe) the IB romance that I read in the Solas thread...

Apparently one review said: "As is the case with most BioWare games, many previous choices are inescapable; encouraging my lover to make the world a better place ultimately led to our split." and according to the Solas thread posters, this reviewer was the same guy who was tweeting about romancing Bull.

I'm pretty sure that was the gamespot review if I can remember correctly... and then Weekes made a tweet about tearing up because their review mentioned one of his characters. if he was referencing that line, which it seems likely, he was either talking about Solas or Bull... but if the reviewer was tweeting about Bull then that's... oh man, I don't wanna think about it. :'c Don't leave me Bull! The world doesn't need to be a better place! XD

I always play a goody-goody in my first playthrough, so needless to say I AM CONCERNED.      I'm hoping the "encourage to make the world a better place" actually amounts to a dumb, self-sacrificing idea that isn't painted to be anything beyond short-sighted idealism...but that's my anxiety starting to show.

Ah man, don't make me get worried. I've been planning my IB and Female!Dwarf romance for months now, it can't end like this! The world doesn't have to be a better place if I can still have his love.

 I'm definitely doing this - and it's because of all the companions, Bull is still the one I'm least sure of on how he will react to my decisions. He seems so neutral, it's much easier to please a goody good like Alistair or a grump like Morrigan. XD

I think "start romance" means "lock-in" the romance. There had to have been flirting and such going on for awhile. I consider the flirting stage part of the romance, even if the game does not.

Dorian does seem much more likely to fit the bill of someone who would be able to 'make the world a better place'. After all it's one of his main objectives.

That's very possible. Does that mean

Dorian doesn't like making the world a better place? I thought he was the reformer, but maybe not in the way I assumed then.

And if he views going back to Tevinter as something to make the world a better place, it would make sense that he wouldn't want to bring his elven lover, for their safety.... I am 100% sure if that's the case, it will be avoidable without having to be a self-interested jerk, but still. Hypothetical speculative scenario making me sad. This game! 

 

edit: Nah, Tamyn, but it might be like....Quizzie has a chance to influence Dorian to go back to Tevinter or choose another path to make the world a better place. It wouldn't have to mean that Dorian wouldn't be a good person outside of it, just maybe that we give him direction in how to accompish that.

You're right of course, but I had a bad experience in Dragon Age 2 where I had to replay the entirety of Act 2 because I fcked up the Fenris romance (I had no idea you needed 50% Rivalry/Friendship to instigate the romance scene).  This game sounds long enough without having to replay 20hrs!

I hope both the s/s LI's are able to have a happy ending without having to sacrifice something. :/ But it does really seem like it's applying to Dorian.

I wasn't a fan of that friendship/rivalry system. I missed tons of cutscenes that were needed to build character loyalty because of that in my first playthrough.

Keep in mind, this guy was happily comparing it to a romance where Alistair left him, which is an easy avoidable choice. So it's not like he was railroaded into it, he was satisfied with bittersweet, so he wasn't thinking about "how could I make this end happily."
