I would guess progressing in story would help. I found out for sure approval unlocks new dialogue and scenes, so if that isn't doing it, it might be later in the storyline. ![]()

She pretty much is! This is so infuriating, especially when he 'implies' that he's been sleeping with the tavern ladies!
Urgh, who's successfully initiated his romance scene? What did you do? Am I not progressing the story enough? Admittedly I haven't even gone to see Stroud yet.
I've initiated the romance (and got the awesome commitment scene) and I haven't done any plot since getting Skyhold - I did kill a dragon (with Bull) in the party which gets you a lot of approval for both the fight and a scene after. I feel I needed a LOT of approval to get with him -more than Dorian, anyway. Although I did disagree with Bull quite a bit more often than him.

Hm... maybe I need to kill another dragon.
After killing one, I finally got the scene where I met the chargers but now I'm stuck again. He's tougher to please than he makes it seem! lol

Yeah.... I tried killing a dragon.
...Emphasis on try.
What's a good and easy dragon to kill for level 12 lightning/fire mage?

Has anyone tried asking Sera's opinion of bull after romancing him? It's a little funny!
Personally i didn't get his final romance scenes til after the Orlesian Ball. Killing Venatori with him will net approval btw if he's with you.

The one I killed was in the Hinterlands, I was the same level but it was reeeeally difficult on normal. If you're okay with bumping it down to casual it's not too bad. Otherwise you may have to level up a bit more. But yeah, getting that massive approval bump put me on the way to his personal quest then romance, so it works if you need the approval.

Nope, but trying it next time I play now. xD

So, I've just played through the Iron Bull romance, and I feel disappointed. He constantly mentions that we 'need' someone else to be in charge and the PC doesn't have an option to tell him we need something else, well... we do, but he simply tells us to end it then. The only options are 'yes' and 'I want to end this'. And it doesn't end there. Pretty much every conversations after refers to us being the bottom, and/or taking it. It would be totally fine... had I said I wanted to.
I'd get it if Bull said he was a pure... well... top, but he even mentions that he does let people top, including several serving girls and a Qunari 'healer', with a wooden rod wrapped in leather, and that 'Everybody Won'. It feels like he'll let everyone top, and even enjoy it, except the Inquisitor and that feels weird... sigh.
Also, the romance is confirmed completed and yet, no romance achievement.
Also if you want to get approval with Bull, ask about Qunari and don't insult them out of hand, kill Venatori with him in the party and kill a High Dragon with him.

"OMG your black so that means your big down there & you're very aggressive in bed!" Then they proceed to lay down & assume their "position." Trust me it gets old very quickly.
So far I'm enjoying the romance so far. Getting to know him is great & I love that he'll (well alot of characters) actually ask me questions. It is a nice change of pace for once. All in all I think that people that are complaining would enjoy Cullen's romance arc alot more. I prefer someone more rough around the edges & someone that helps my Inquisitor forget about the weight on his shoulders.

I....couldn't do it. I love the big guy to bits but I just can't even recruit someone who pays so much as lip service to the qun
Maybe in some playthrough later but for now... ![]()

I recommend trying in a future playthrough.
His story around that has been a good one so far as I'm concerned.

I see where you're coming from; it ultimately made zero sense for me/my self-insert Tal-Vashoth Inquisitor to let this guy in. But I couldn't help myself. I always recruit Zevran, too, even though there's less of a justification for that. (in my opinion, of course)

Thank the Maker for a man that likes to be in control. If I recall correctly I think he stated the "rod thing" was enjoyable but wasn't what he preferred (at least that is what I got out of the conversation). We were well aware of him being a alpha male of sorts so him reminding me ooccasionally doesn't bother me in the least. It's a nice contrast to what I hear in real life.

That's been my take from the first time I heard someone complain about IB being disrespectful or too dominant. They have other romance options if that isn't your thing. I really don't understand why people are so upset with what has been a very consistent presentation of Bull's personality. I don't see the same thing about Cullen, for example. (Although the Cullenites tend to think of him as perfect, so maybe that is not a good example.
) Anyway, I am trying to remain major-spoiler free, since I plan to romance IB on a future play through, but I just don't get people complaining when Bull acts like...well, the kind of guy who would lead a band of mercenaries and name himself The Iron Bull.

Ha ha ha! A friend of mine playing DAO had a really hard time recruiting Zev, because you know, trying to kill her and all. Her first inclination was always to kill him.
Me? I romanced him. What can I say, I have a thing for the anti-heroes. An assassin raised in a brothel? What's not to love?

Yeah, I haven't romanced him yet and am trying to keep an open mind until I do it myself, but this issue makes me a little uncomfortable and makes me feel like he's not going to be a recurring romance for me over the many times I expect I'll be playing this game. I guess I appreciate that they're not shying away from dynamics between two men, but I also wish they'd leave some things to the imagination (like Dorian's "inquisit me" line). I dislike the implication that because I'm interested in a big, masculine qunari that I must also be interested in being his exclusive bottom without any input on my part.

Just a quick question to the Iron Bull fans, since I am not sure if something is wrong or not. Since I've gotten to Skyhold, except for one cut scene, I've had no dialogue options with Bull. It gives me the circle, but the only option is good bye. I am only working on the plot just after Skyhold, but I am still getting nothing. Is this normal or is it yet another a bug for the PC.

I had that problem too, I didn't get anything from him for a long time, but eventually he gave me his personal quest. I did that and killed a dragon before going back to Skyhold and suddenly I had like four cut scenes in a row with him. I think his content just isn't very spread out.

^ pretty much what they said up there, it's normal. His dialogue hits a dead point until you either gain enough approval from him or do a quest that initiates a cutscene reaction, it happened to me as well. I killed a dragon and got tons of approval plus a cutscene, then got a couple more in a row.

Well, sh*t, I think I did smth wrong and missed cutscene after dragon. No cutscene after killing the dragon. I killed dragon before Skyhold. Any thoughts if I can still get cutscene after another dragon? It was a looong time ago in my saves...

Did you bring him with you when you killed the first one? Even so, it might still work if you kill another with him.

What the question is this? I bring him everywhere!
He said smth about magnificent fight, but no full cutscene.

After all I witnessed, I really really loved Bull for his personality. He is honest with what he desires, and cares about you in the most practical way possible. Yes, he takes charge of the relationship, which is great, because he IS a decision maker. He has power, experience, and a protective personality that ensures the safety and benefits of his loved ones, so why not use it?
In a relationship, one side being more dominating doesn't necessary mean the relationship is unequal; it's quite the opposite. The relationship IS equal because both sides consent to it. For some, Bull being dominating, controlling, decision making, etc, is perfect for those who prefer taking care of other facets of their life, while letting the alpha takes care of the rest. It saves a lot of hustle and arguments, when both sides have clear role to play, rather than both sides want to maintain an uneasy balance when personalities, situation, and resources are unavailable.
Besides, some people thrive when they have loved ones to protect, and some people thrive when they are protected and feeling safe. I, for one, would love to have Bull as my partner.

I mean, no offense, Iron Bull but I killed hundreds of demons and pretty much saved the world
I am more powerful one so if anyone has to be "on the top", it's me
Not saying IB is a bad character but all the talks about this dom-sub kind of made me anxious about my second walkthrough in which I planned to romance him with my second Adaar. Maybe she'll stick to Sera. They both are the quirkiest
