For those that feel they are weird for liking this romance I can throw myself on that boat since this is hands down my favorite romance.....EVER! As someone already stated alot of people have a misperception in regards to a dom/sub relationship, most cannot get past the whips & chains part (it doesn't always involve that lol). Before you initiate the romance with him he does tell you that you don't entirely know what that means. Even before he gives you one final warning with your back against the wall, with your hands held above your hand & him towering over you (sweet maker that was so hot). He isn't saying that he going to dominate you but his body language sure as hell said it.

After the romance scene when asked to discuss your relationship he says he is doing it for "your" pleasure. He isn't banging you like a rag doll and neglecting you. It sounds like he is the type that really takes care of you, if you know what I mean lol. The sub already has alot of power in the relationship but if the dom is like Bull then it is even more so.

The Inquisitor has all of Thedas on their shoulders and that can take a toll on people.

Look at Hawke for example. They just sound tired and worn out & that is from just one city

You have people worshipping you, asking you for help all the time & enemies everywhere. He offers to help with your burden by giving you a chance to let go. Hell he doesn't even add to your burden even when it looks like he should. Bull isn't the type of guy that is going to buy you flowers & chocolate (thank the maker) instead he tells you he cares about you by being a refuge from the world around you. As for the serving girls he states that they slave away all day never feeling important. He gives them a chance to feel "beautiful" in his own unique way. I'm sure he tells the quizzy that they are "beautiful" too lol.

Some people aren't into this kind of relationship, just like I'm not into Dorian at all. He is WAY too high maintenance for me & I hate men & women like that, huge turn off for me. But alot of people seem to enjoy his romance arc quite a bit. I also don't like Sera either but she isn't available to male quizzys anyway (thank the maker for that miracle). Personally I still think that everyone that hates this romance would be better off with Cullen. He isn't so sex focused although I think he should be. If he still has his templar powers he can cast silence on his lover & then.......see this is why I'm a bull rider lol. Anyway I stated my opinion the matter so now I can finish my breakfast, take my clothes off & ride the bull.

For anyone else that has completed his romance far enough for the achievement to unlock, did anyone else have a cutscene issue?

When you're on the bed talking and chatting about safe words, and love, etc, does the screen go randomly black and red throughout for anyone else or is it just mine being weird? Like it will randomly cut between the proper cut scene then to red/black and back again repeatedly.

 

You know what this is?  Your bed.  Hahaha, I had the same thing happen and I had just switched to the Free Marches four poster bed with the curtains.  That red & black thing was the camera being obstructed by them.  I reloaded, changed the bed, and replayed the scene and it was fine.

I wonder who else will potentially comment on the romance? The only one I've encountered personally is when asking Sera what she thinks about other companions/advisors when asked about IB she says "yeah I got thoughts, how can you still walk?" lmao XD

 

I didn't think I would like the romance much, I thought it would be disturbingly kinky and all about sex but I'm loving it! They're actually really sweet together and I don't have to actually see any of their bedroom shennanagins.

Well, looks like one more Bioware game where I'm whittled down to a single love interest. Not getting any input into my relationship besides saying yes or saying no to it is incredibly off-putting to me. I really like Bull as a character, but I don't think I'm even going to bother romancing him once now. I might just skip ahead to Josephine after I finish this first one with Dorian.

Oh trust me, I ain't got nothing against the dom/sub kink. I probably would have been a sub if I had a sex drive. It's just I'm a panromantic  asexual, so I'm far more interested in emotional connections. I want him to open up to me, too. I want him to share his burdens with me. I want to be able to give back as well. I don't want it to be only about me. Well, atleast there's always headcanon i.e. nights together where my Quizzy wakes up with Bull in some nightmare and she comforts him until he's resting peacefully and she never brings it up in the morning. I'm a sucker for woobies and strays, but I don't like relationships that are based on pity either. I don't want to "fix" people to make them acceptable in society. I don't want them to become so dependent that they would kill themselves if I die. I want them to accept themselves and walk confidently knowing "this is who I am". I loved the whole "Hissrad" vs "The Iron Bull" dynamic they were angling for and I wish it could have been incorporated further into the romance as well. 

 

Honestly, this romance fits perfectly with my girl though. I thought I'd switch it up and play a virgin for once, but she doesn't want people to know she is since she'll seem "inferior" to them. She also has some trust issues thinking people are out to get her and what not. In DAO, Sten says (paraphrasing) "Mages are beasts. No, beasts are better because they can actually learn." Qunari have a very low opinion about mages and I can't imagine the Tal-Vashoth can really break that mentality. Even the Dalish won't keep too many mages in a single clan, because they're dangerous. She may not have been abused, but I could imagine the Tal-Vashoth being more distant towards her and maybe looking at her wondering "Could she be possessed? Is she a demon?"

 

And I came up with all that before the Yir Auld in DA video thing was released. Finding out what Bull's romance had me going "OH HECK YES! I can work with this!" I rather like how the scenes flowed. They felt quite natural for my girl. It just feels like there's a hole in the middle of the romance that needed to be filled. The tavern scene after killing the high dragon was pretty good, but that was more info dump and less talking about feelings.

 

TLDR: So yeah, I like the romance. I just think it could have been better.

I'll admit it would have been nice to actually talk to him about his problems occasionally but I'm still satisfied with what I got. Maybe after the breach is closed he will learn to share his burden with you but still dominate me in bed. Hopefully there is a ball gag involved that way I'm more quiet. Also he BETTER STAY with the Inquisitor not this BS nonsense like my warden without his Nightingale or my pirate queen out traveling the open seas without Hawke.

Anyway I'm glad that there are more people that actually like the romance arc. Yes it could have been done better but couldn't we say that about all of them (unless you're a Cullenite because they seem to think his is perfect. I still think he needs to tie his quizzy up & use silence on her, then take her).

Also this Bull and Dorian hook up thing will NEVER happen in my game. I was going to romance Cassandra with a second character but if that....thing touches MY man, I'll bash his skull in. So forgive me Cassie my human rogue has to ride the bull too (we don't need the Inquisitor killing random people in a jealous rage).

Also, I got a banter before this one where Cole refers to Krem as "him" and Iron Bull is surprised because he figured with his mind reading he'd know he's really a "she". Cole says something like "The armor fits, but the body isn't right. It doesn't hurt so much because you (Iron Bull) make it better." Cole is such a sweetheart! 

 

On that note, am I the only one who thought Krem was a girl at first? Appearance-wise that is. It's Naoto Shirogane all over again for me.

I had a question; was flirting withBlackwall and decided to flirt with Bull a bit. Ever since arriving in Skyhold, no flirt options period; his approval is through the roof, did his personal quest and killed a dragon and nothing. I have flirt options with everyone else but him. Any guidance or have I not reached a certain point to flirt yet? I haven't even done Blackwall's personal quest so I am confused. :/ Thanks!!

I ultimately chose to sacrifice the Chargers. When we returned to Skyhold, I was relieved to see "Iron Bull Greatly Approves" but... I feel so badly for Bull! He's been my bro this entire playthrough, and it's so painful to see him so upset as he was!
