So guys, I got the scene that someone mentioned earlier- the one where after you take him to the Fade, Bull asks you to hit him with a stick. It doesn't come off at all as being sexual. He says that it's a Ben-Hassrath method of overcoming their fears; he doesn't explain how it works exactly, but it's apparently emotionally therapeutic for him. The whole time you're whacking him, he's trash-talking the Nightmare and shouting about how he beat it into the dust, so maybe the point is to use anger to overcome pain and fear, which actually makes sense in a way. Probably wouldn't work for me, but if it works for him, great. 

 

Also, if you pick the flirt option during that scene you say something along the lines of "I didn't know you liked it this rough,", and Bull jokingly replies "Only if it comes from you." This tells me that despite the whole "I will never hurt you without permission" statement, Bull doesn't actually get that aggressive in the bedroom. Or at least definitely not to the point where they're hitting each other full-force. Of course, that doesn't rule out consensual spanking, but that's a whole other can of worms.

 

Anyway, I thought it was an interesting fact and maybe those of us who are still worried about the whole 'domination' thing happening with Bull might like to hear it. Personally I thought his quote about permission meant more along the lines of "I won't hurt you unless you ask for it,", but that may just be me being delusional. Just wanted to share my two cents of thought about that scene!

That sounds way better than the average fanfic I've seen on the net. The others don't even try to have an actual plot, sorta like homemade hardcore.

I thought it was weird myself that you couldn't be dom although my Dalish does look like a pixie stick in comparison to him. I also liked that he's this ubermacho guy but simultaneously considerate of your thoughts and feelings. It's a nice touch to an already fun character.

I like to think that he's open to switching it up a little after you fight The Big Bad. I can't imagine that he'd NEVER let you be in charge EVER.. Maybe not often, but I find it difficult to believe he wouldn't be open to it once in a while. Also, he says that if it's someone you care about, you give them what they need. If it was a situation where you felt that you needed to be in charge, I'm sure he'd be open to it. He's not going force you to do anything that you don't like.

 

By You, I mean the Inquisitor. I just get into the habit of addressing people as their characters. It's a bad habit...

Tbf, I know a lot of gay men in real life who also don't like to switch up their positions, some people consider themselves strictly just tops or strictly just bottoms. Just some food for thought. Though I agree with what Yermogi said, I think maybe at some point Bull would be open to bottoming, later on in the relationship maybe.

I saved the Chargers. The Qun ultimately caused him to burn out. The Chargers make him happy. Plus, I much prefer his reaction if you save them. "You've made me a better man" as opposed to "You helped me remember who I am."

I haved the Chargers since I felt that he wanted to but didn't really have the heart to say it. He was acting like a mother hen so it made since to me. Hearing him said that you made him a better man solidified my decision since I felt really bad that he was no longer part of the Qun.

I saved the Chargers without hesitation. I don't like the Qun, and it makes no sense to me to keep Bull in it. He's barely of the Qun as it is; as they say in his quest, many believe he's already Tal-Vashoth back home on Seheron. I feel like saving his men actually does make him a better person. He's happier that way, at least that's how it seems to me.

 

Also, I'm romancing him with a FemMageQunari who is Tal-Vashoth. Do you have any idea how awkward the family reunions would be? How the heck would she explain to her parents that not only is she dating someone of the Qun, but who is also a Ben-Hassrath spy? They'd disown her in a heartbeat. I have this headcanon that one day I'll put down into fanfiction about her parents coming to visit and Iron Bull trying to gain their approval. Also I'd get to write a great story about how Adaar's parents left the Qun.

For my first play through, I didn't simply because I was more interested in bringing together all the (countries?) in peace. The next play through, I will because he loves them, it seems.

Saved the Chargers My inquisitor knew those guys and knew Bull cared for them; how could he advocate letting them die? He's a bit of a bleeding heart.

 

Besides I think Bull adapts well to being Tal-Vashoth, even if he's rather bitter about it afterward. The truth was he left the Qun a long time ago.

I can see making the opposite decision for people playing hardcore pragmatists, but that's just not me. One alliance isn't worth losing an awesome group of people to me... that and I'm not sure I would even trust that alliance in the first place. Why would the Qunari support a bunch of bas? I could definitely see them turning their back, especially when most already consider him tal-vashoth. Ultimately it didn't even matter anyway, we still won. And Bull feels like a better man.

Chargers the first time and the second time I don't think I can bring myself to let them die, The Iron Bull obviously cares a lot for his men and just makes more sense to me to keep them plus I like them they're pretty cool. Also imo Iron Bull seems pretty happy with it after the shock wears off. But mostly cause i feel like a bastard if I let them die though I might try in in another run just to see if it feels as bad as I think it will. (also also got 'encouraged' by some to NOT let the chargers die, there are some people you do not defy

Random OT note of what is currently being talked about but just have to say I fracken love getting my dwarf with The Iron Bull best damn thing ever with a funny little touch with the post victory scene and for the most part it looked very good~ I think The Iron Bull is going to be my go to romance once I've tried all the others

A lot of people seem to assume that Iron Bull's relationship is all whips and chains. Has anybody else considered that he may be into shibari? That's pretty much the first thing that popped into my head when I saw that Yir Auld in DA video.

Well, I'm not a Bullmancer - I tried, but he didn't seem interested! - but I'll answer anyway.

I saved the Chargers.  My Inquisitor's Tal Vashoth and happily so.  She always thought the Iron Bull would be better off outside the Qun, but never would have tried to force him out of it.  However, when circumstances made it absolutely necessary to choose, she couldn't have gone any other way.  She was glad that it seemed to make him happy overall.  Regardless, the Chargers were already part of the Inquisition.  It'd be terrible for morale to sacrifice some existing loyal members for the sake of a possibly-larger alliance.  You'd basically be telling everyone they're expendible.
