Don't worry. I will both talk and drool :3
Good to know that someone can multi-task.
So how do we think we'll meet him. Something like how you met Zevran, he's hired to kill you. Or, maybe we will save him and his merry band mercs..
I'm going with the Zevran scenario, in that his band of mercenaries will be hired to take us out early on in the game while the Inquisition is still seen as this upstart powergrab, but instead of killing all his mercs and having the option of killing him, he'll realize he's being manipulated by the badguys or some such, or we'll make him a better offer; point being, he'll still have his mercs when he joins with us.
That's high up on my list too, but I don't know if they would seems it's already been used as an intro.
Bioware's never had a problem with repeating what works before; see the entire formula behind their game's plots.
I expect it will be dressed up very differently from the Zevran encounter, but the essence will remain the same; initial antagonist becomes ally.
Like with Zevran I expect it to color a good bit of the companions perspective of him, being that he was hired to kill them and all. Could be his banter will drop a few references to Zevran as well as Sten.
Very true.

I wonder if he, or any of the other companions, could have already been working for the Inquisition? I'm guessing not as that would take away from the whole recruiting aspect... But I guess it would be nice to see IB as some kind of respected, regular member of society from the start.
And also, okay I know this has been mentioned before but I don't feel like going through the pages of this thread... Is IB Tal-Vashoth? Does that mean he consciously chose to abandon the Qun?

I would like something like this, he and is gang or what we should call it, needs our help for a quest, that we stumble upon ( like the guard quest on the beach in DA2 where the gang is and they need our help to bring them down. if you remeber it.), but the quest goes south and he is the only on left, and then he joins. Since having a purpose seems to be a thing for the qunari even if they "left". this is just something i would like to see though...

Yeah, i'm pretty sure they said Iron Bull was Tal Vashoth.
Yeah, i'm pretty sure they said Iron Bull was Tal Vashoth.
Badass. I wonder what his reasons would be?
I've been laboring under the impression that at the start the only companions who'll be part of the Inquisition will be Varric, Cassandra, and Vivienne, and that the rest will be people we either actively recruit or pick up along the way.
That's another possibility; we actively seek out Iron Bull and his mercenaries and have to settle a matter with an opposing force who's looking to hire him, as well.
I imagine Iron Bull's story arch, aside from tackling his past, is largely going to be about coming to terms with embracing the Inquisition as a cause instead of just looking at it as a job.
Badass. I wonder what his reasons would be?
So, near the beginning, it'd be something like:
Heroic!Inquisitor: *annoyed* Is there any particular reason you rolled your eyes during that conversation? It didn't exactly help my case.
Iron Bull: *in a mocking tone* "It'll make a difference. I'll make sure things get better!" *scoffs* That would have been quite the convincing line, were that woman a fool. Thankfully, she wasn't.
H!Quizzy: You don't think I can help them? You don't think I can stop this madness before more unnecessary blood is shed?
IB: Inquisitor, it will take more than a needle, some thread, and good intentions to mend what it is you're trying to mend. And I'm not just talking about the holes in the sky. Honestly? It'd be better to go about our business and not feed people any optimistic lies. They might start to believe them.
H!Quizzy: They aren't lies. You've seen what the Inquisition can do. We can fix this.
IB: ... That's... none of my business. I'm just here to chop down your foes and collect my coin, remember? Let's not get me involved with your forays into heroism, too.
And gradually, as things progress (unless the Inquisitor is played as a complete jerkbiscuit who helps no one, but hey still a possibility), Iron Bull starts to actually believe in the Inquisitor's capability and sees the importance of the Inquisition as something other than the current source of his income?
*cough* My space-wasting musings aside, I like the idea of Iron Bull bringing a more neutral, reluctantly involved character and developing an actual investment in the Inquisition by the end of his arc. And, of course, exploring his past as a Qunari-turned-Tal-Vashoth is going to be pretty fascinating too.
I expect an encounter similiar to Zevran's. Though instead they won't be hired by anybode, but rather fighting with uf for resources or loot.
Actually, I have that funny idea, that maybe we actually will be taken hostages and eventually help IB defend his mercs from some demons or red remplars. Kind of similiar to the band which helped Rapuntzel in a Disney movie. P. Weeks even wrote that he was making a song for some band of mercenaries. Maybe it is it?.. Or maybe I have a big imagination
He is definitelly a tal-vashoth, but since Bioware often mention his past, maybe we actually will encounter the qunari who try to kill Iron Bull for leaving Qun.
I really like all these ideas. I have a hard time coming up with anything, and when I do what I write down doesn't make much sense.
It is all fun and fan theories :3 Don't be afraid and write whatever you like about IB, the more - the merrier

Oh, dear, now I'm imagining this type of conversation going on ever after...
IB: *turns around to leave* That's it, I'm drawing the line here. There is no way that I am wasting my time with...
Quizzy: Oh, yes, do abandon us in our time of need. Just like I could have done to you and your mercenary band, all that time ago...
IB: Oh no. Don't you dare start with the...!
Quizzy: *tearful* But that's alright, I suppose! It isn't as though you owe me anything for saving your sorry iron buttocks from being burnt to a crisp by a rampaging rage demon!
IB: Come on, that isn't even what...!
Quizzy: No, no, go on! And don't fret, I'll make sure to tell our Mercantile Counselor to stop your payment, effective immediately. Maker speed your travels, my dear friend!
IB: ... *rejoins the group* Just so we're clear? I hate you.
Quizzy: I adore you as well, my darling Ox. Onward!

Was there ever any consensus as to what Varric's nickname for Iron Bull should be?

I was thinking it was more like ME2. Even if we know these people, we have to seek them out to recruit them.
PC: Hi, remember me? We saved the world some years ago, and now I've started this organization...
Was there ever any consensus as to what Varric's nickname for Iron Bull should be?
I am very upset at myself that I can't think of anything more interesting than "qunari."
Was there ever any consensus as to what Varric's nickname for Iron Bull should be?
I nominate "Tiny" as Varric's chosen epithet for him, personally. 'Twould be most amusing.
