Yeah I tried to make a lady qunari but her hair keeps me from playing long periods. I can't help but stare at it in horror.

Hello The Iron Bull thread!
Just stopping by for a visit!


So I finished the main part of I.B.'s romance with my female Trevelyan rogue. Then went on YouTube for the balcony scene and anything else I may have missed (I don't want to rush through this play through. I did that with my last one because of my romance and regretted it). Anywho I just wanted to say that I enjoyed bthe romance. I know a lot of people are complaining about the domination or I.B. being a know-it-all but his bedroom preferences worked out with my Maeve Trevelyan. So the romance wasn't out of character and I was surprised how much I liked my character with him!
I definitely wasn't paying much attention to I.B. until I saw his first romance scene posted prior to Inquisition's release. Then I was like "well...looks like I'll be making a character to romance The Iron Bull." ahh, good times. (It was a pretty hawt scene, even if their banter had me looking behind my shoulder to make sure no one was watching!)
The only thing I really disliked about the romance was how rushed all the feelings felt, and how in the beginning it felt a bit one sided (Uh huh, I'm supposed to slay another dragon for you...here's an idea, why don't you give me the tooth?) Like, I wish the build up was a bit more like Zevran's romance. Ah well, this is why we do head canon, right?

All in all I found his romance was great and his character is super awesome period. He's really well written and he completely blew away any preconceived ideas I had about how his character was going to be!

You're not the only one who thought it felt a bit rushed Neverland! I was addicted to Zevran's romance and it's slow build, but this wasn't really the thing with Bull, despite the fact that I think it was much the same type of slow build to love as Zevran was.

 

I think it was just a failing on Bioware's part due to time constraints etc. There were so many romances in this game I think some of them kind of got that last minute feel, for things like not getting a dance cut scene etc.

 

Despite that, he's still one of my most favorite romances. ♥ I would have loved more, but I'll accept what I got and hope that in future they might add some more in for us Bullriders. :3

I loved the whole BDSM aspect of Bull. I wasn't bothered by him telling me he knew what was best for me because obviously I agreed with his assessment But the biggest flaw for me was that it took me FOREVER to get enough approval for him to even consider me for a romance. I mean the guy flirted  (and starts a relationship) with Dorian. He bangs random chicks in Haven and Skyhold. He even flirts with Cassandra for heaven's sakes. But it takes an act of the Maker to get him to even notice me in that way. So by the time I finally get him, I have this feeling that he's just giving into this chick because she pestered him enough and she took down a dragon. Not exactly the feeling I was going for when I finally got him

I thought about it and figure that the only reason Bull doesn't pursue the Inquisitor on his own is that the developers wanted to avoid making players who didn't want to romance him uncomfortable.

 

Also, I've found that Bull is significantly harder to romance if you free the mages or disband the Templars.  On my first run where I freed the mages, I spent a long time working him, and had to kill a dragon with him to finally trigger the romance.  The next time through, where I conscripted the mages, Bull and I hopped straight into bed after completing his personal quest, which became available to me very soon after settling into Skyhold.

I know how ya feel, trust me. What I honestly think though is that he has some reservations about sleeping with the 'boss' at first. Which is our title from him even, until we fully commit. I also think an actual romantic relationship is pretty alien to him, being Qunari, so he isn't really inclined to think of anything like that until the PC shows how much they care about him.

 

edit: Also, what was said above. Allied w/ mages on my first playthrough and man, that disapproval hit made me think I was doing something wrong trying to trigger a romance. But next game I allied with the templars and was able to srsly finish the entirety of the romance cutscenes before even going to the Winter Palace. XD

Someone quoted this in a different thread, and it reminded me that when I found that banter, I was actually kind of cheesed that he would say that to Dorian and not to a mage Inquisitor, because...hnnngh. ♥

With a little side of hnnnnngh. ♥

 

It's really not fair, because if the Inquisitor is tied down so much, how is he supposed to grab onto Bull's horns. ;_; #bullridersproblems

 

I actually had very few problems moving Bull's relationship along. I fell in love with him instantly and swapped him in for my main tank and took him everywhere I went. I must have gathered enough approval along my way, because I had completed the romance and recieved his love tarot card before I even started the Orlesian ball. Once we got started, it was a tumble of cut scenes and after Adamant the deal was sealed.

I did conscript the mages though, so that probably helped a lot.

Yeah I usually conscript the mages templars and romance him right after Here Comes the Abyss. But we agree on a lot of things XD I didn't have to kill a dragon though.

 

But YES I wish he would've said the above to my romanced quizzy too instead it's wasted on Dorian.

Good points. What I think I'll do is another play through and romance him, making different choices to hopefully get him sooner, so it doesn't feel like he wants everybody but me

The first time my Inquisitor had sex with Bull they actually discussed how Bull helped give other people what they needed too, which involved him explaining why he let servant girls "bounce on top." >.> It's not the fact that Bull has sex with you that makes you special to him. It's the fact that it is allowed to grow so much. The fact that he takes it personally and actually says I love you too, etc.

 

Think of his reluctance to bed you, as him not wanting to affect your reputation or mess with the power balance/struggle as the Inquisitor takes over the situation with the whole saving the world thing. He knows that he can't just sleep with you, he doesn't take it so lightly! Eventually he just can't resist your awesomeness, and when he does give in he ends up falling in love with you.
