I nominate "Tiny" as Varric's chosen epithet for him, personally. 'Twould be most amusing.
Oddly enough, best I could come up with was "Big Guy".

Hehe, so it comes down to either an accurate observation, or a sarcastic one.
I'd suggest something like "Little Big Horn" as a compromise, except that is actually idiotic and I'm quite ashamed to have ever thought of something so cheesy in the first place. Feels... unclean, somehow.
I'd say "Iron blls", but I'm afraid this would be way too much even for a 18+ game XD And, eh, too suggestive

See, I've felt that the huge, hulking guy with an ironic name like "Tiny" has been over done since before I was born.
But maybe I'm out of touch and it's making a comeback.

Oh, on the contrary, it really is done to death. Possibly since its inception. I've just always found some of Varric's nicknames to be on the cheesy side anyway, so I figured "Tiny" would be right at home.
They were either cheesy, or on the nose(Blondie, Rivaini, Seeker, Madame).
If anything I'd lean towards Varric giving Iron Bull an "on the nose" name, if only out of fear.
Since when has Varric ever let fear influence what he does? That dwarf is gutsy beyond measure.
Guess "Horns" could be another potential nickname.

Well he was out and out terrified of Aveline.

That's not an example. Everyone is terrified of Aveline. ![]()

I'm not.
Honestly never understood why anyone was. She could take a hit well enough, but at least the way I spec'd her, she was physically the weakest warrior in my DA2 party.
His nickname could have something to do with him being a mercenary, it could reference his giant sword, or some inane love of something that we don't even know about yet.
Hehehe, so how about... "Cookies"?
*crickets*
... I'll see myself out. No need to get out the pitchforks and torches, folks.
Hehehe, so how about... "Cookies"?
I am going to laugh so hard if Iron Bull turns out to hate cookies.

Or he'll turn out to have some kind of small furry critter as a secret pet
It is all fun and fan theories :3 Don't be afraid and write whatever you like about IB, the more - the merrier
So I actually came up with something ![]()
We hear talk of a skilled band of mercenaries led by a giant known only as the Iron Bull. Upon meeting this impressive Qunari warrior he quickly turns down our offer to join forces with the inquisition albeit with a smirk.
Not long after being laughed away, his band is attacked by Fade Demons or other Qunari (for abandoning the Qun) and you are given the option of saving them or letting them perish.
Iron Bull feeling as though he now has debt to pay (qunari honour and all that) volunteers their services to you and the inquisition, for a price of course.
That's certainly one way of going about it.
My concern there is that I feel if done poorly, it could make IB and his mercs come off as too weak, raise the question of why we need them at all.
But if done well, it could certainly work.
Hmmm, true. Maybe it could be that he felt that they could have taken them without your help, but with your intervention a lot of his men’s lives were spared . So he feels he owes a debt for the lives of his men, more than anything else.
Guess "Horns" could be another potential nickname.
How about Bulls eye! ![]()
Oh, that's bad....
if only he were an archer.... oh the irony
about 2 years ago i worked with a guy who was 6'2" and 450 pounds... i never learned his real name, everyone just called him tiny... i remember because i could never call him tiny and keep a straight face, i always had to crack a smile
How about "Tiny"?
You see, that's what I said! I don't think ironic jabs are beyond Varric in the slightest, no matter how intimidating the subject.
So, two votes "Tiny"!
