That's evil.
Yeah same. I managed to find the #adoribull tag and that's about it.
Do you need an invite too?
I had to request some more, but you are welcome to one too when I receive them.

Nah I can wait. All I do is read anyway XD
This is just a hey all before I go back to lurking, but regarding Dorian/Bull...I have no issues with it, even if it's interpretated as a darker romance. Then again, I'm not one for fluff. The amount of anger though...on tumblr and here on the forums is a little ridiculous, imo. And it seems those who ship them are outnumbered by the vocal majority who think it's gross or harmful or whatnot.
Can't people just leave it? I mean, how hard is it to click the back button or read warnings on stories? But on Tumblr, it's moved to "dictating" how to tag your posts now so the opposers can blacklist it. I mean...come on...really?
Anyway, my two cents. I think Bull is great. I think Dorian is awesome. I think Dorian is a big boy and if he really didn't want a relationship, he wouldn't have initiated it (because it's always implied that he goes to Bull first). It's a multilayered relationship that's very adult in nature, and it doesn't help that the game only gives a glimpse of what goes on between them. Much of it is up to the player's interpretation.
I say bring on the fanfic, fluff and dark. I'll read them all.
Well said, I agree completely. I've never been a huge fluff fan either, and tbh I just think people's imaginations are automatically drifting towards possible negativity that isn't even there. 'Cuz if it ain't like something outta The Notebook there must be something wrong. ![]()
I hope everyone had a great New Year's Eve/Day. ![]()
I've finally initiated Bull's romance after doing Demands of the Qun, holy maker, I'm still screaming internally.
I just thought I'd stop by our favourite Qunari's thread to squee about how he's probably my favourite romance in the series so far. I haven't completed the romance arc yet, heck, I've only just started it officially if previous flirtations are to be ignored, but I already love the themes going on in it. The "romance" seems like just casual fun between your Inquisitor and Bull, and yet, he's so respectful of you. Definitely enjoying the experience so far.
In general, flirting with Bull is a lot like flirting with a brick wall. He will always deflect it into something hilarious instead of taking you seriously.
Then he gets you alone and BAM. Bullriding. >.>
Dat bullriding.
Sadly, I also forgot to wish everyone here a happy new year, so I give my apologies--and my wishes for everyone to have a great new year here!
I have yet to start Bull's personal mission (on PS4, at least)...but I can't leave the poor guy without his crew. Also...there is one more thing I noticed between the ps3 and ps4 versions. For the former, he was DEFINITELY a little fragile for such a damage dealer and for the latter not as much (granted,I'm much more careful with him, so maybe that's why. Either way, bull can WRECK.)
Also, how's everyone?
Bull is nooooot fragile if you build him right! Craft him a weapon with fade touched obsidian, so that it gives him guard on hit. Give him enough skills in the vanguard tree that he can build some guard. Then just shake him up and turn him loose. If you go deep into his reaver tree, then all you gotta do is get him to low hp before he builds guard, and then he will just be in a permanent state of not-give-a-****.
Personally I use him as my main tank, so I have him sword and shield and he's pretty much the only character that can keep up with my knight-enchanter lol. ![]()
I generally go for the one-handed tree for bull for extra defense..but i did once explore the game with blackwall as a hard hitter instead of a tank and found it enjoyable. So, time to goback to fiddling around with bull!
(And yes, fade-touched obisidan is a GODSEND. Saved Cole quite a few times.)
Yeah, if you go 2h tree with Bull, and give him guard on hit, and sayyyy, Unbound from the vanguard tree? Then he will run in head first into hell knows what, use unbound to generate guard, and then every time he hits things with his constant aoes, he will just keep building guard. With reaver skills too? It's a beautiful sight of exploding bodies and carnage to behold!
So did anyone else get the Cole-Iron Bull banter about romancing Iron Bull?
Its hilarious.
I got it in the middle of fighting through the keep in Emprise Du Lion.
Solas said nothing, just kinda gave off the general vibe of "Not needing to know that" I guess.
I've been playing Hard difficulty with Bull as my tank. I've focused on Weapon and Shield and Battlemaster Vanguard respectively, taking everything that improves his armour, guard, and general survivability. I'm tempted to put some points in Reaver for self-healing, but I actually don't think it's necessary. It was rough initially, but the only time Bull has had trouble recently was on a story mission and that was against a boss (Nightmare's Lair). If anything, I need to improve his method of keep enemies off of Cole, Vivienne, and me, but that's less of a mechanical issue and more of a tactical one.
(Edited, I mixed up Battlemaster and Vanguard.)

Hmm, Battlemaster is a bit of an odd choice for a tank, is it not? The only skill from that tree I ever got him was the chain pull, so that he could drag things into traps for me or pull casters or ranged into the melee.
Vanguard is what helps him get aggro and keep it. It also does a great job with building guard so it's kind of an all in one tank tree. The points in reaver that I put in ended up being more for helping his DPS than healing, really. The less HP he has, the harder he hits when he's into his reaver tree, so healing himself can be counter productive as long as you got lots of guard up on him. x3
But, whatever is working for you is all that matters! I play on NIghtmare so I've tried a bunch of things and some of them are reallllly not so great when the game is that unforgiving haha.
I just started hard mode and most situations (save for a rift in the emerald graves) I can handle. However, I DO like the idea of bull using unbowed, though I think if you also give him grappling chain and combat roll, it REALLY helps in the long run (<---I think the battlemaster tree is just what blackwall needs too.)
Sorry, I'm an idiot, I somehow confused Vanguard with Battlemaster.
Edited it.
Yeah, I only use the chain pull from Battlemaster, it's useful for grabbing those stray mobs that go after the mages and archers in your party. As for Vanguard, which just to clarify I am building Bull with - not Battlemaster- War Cry is one of my favourite abilities in the game.
Yesss, that makes a lot more sense. xD I'm sure theres some really good stuff in the battlemaster tree, I just haven't touched it entirely because my only warrior is a tank. Someday I need to play something other than a mage main character, or try switching up my party comp or something. xD
The pathetic thing is, the most party-comp-switching I do, is swapping out Cole or Varric. Bull and Dorian are not characters I'll ever leave out of my party lol.
I will admit, I get so focused on beating the enemy thinking ahead is generally not on my to-do list...HOWEVER. Playing DA more and more, I can say that you DO take advantage of elevated areas and the likes of ambushes---and boy howdy, is bull good with that chain. Talk about taking the bull by the horns.
As for war cry, I only ever did that with blackwall--it's kind of fitting given what kind of person he aspires to be/has become...somewhat. But enough on that--i have deviated from bull long enough..which brings me to ask another question.
Anyone get the masterwork archon staff yet? I know it's in bull's questline for the war table, I just honestly do not know how to get it up.
Yeah, those passive defensive skills are what really saves Bull for me. Otherwise he's just used as a punching bag too much, poor babe. lol. You gotta be careful building those skills, but done right he can be a great fighter.
I've finally initiated Bull's romance after doing Demands of the Qun, holy maker, I'm still screaming internally.

Glad you're enjoying it! I actually really like how the romance starts off so casual. The jump after commitment can seem a bit sudden, but I find the other romances that start off so... romancey to be even more sudden. It's just like woah, we've flirted like 5 times but I love you now! xD For Bull you get to build up this respectful 'friends having fun' thing first before anything serious starts. Stuff like that always attracts me to those types rather than the fluffmances.
His romance is so adorable I just can't even find the words but I'm making an internal high pitched squealing noise like I just swallowed a live nug. ![]()
♥ Beautiful pictures.
My AO3 account invitation finally came through, horray! So I've posted my fanfiction there all official and junk in the Iron Bull section.
Link is here, in case anyone didn't see it and might be interested in some NSFW Iron Bull sexytimes.
As for war cry, I only ever did that with blackwall--it's kind of fitting given what kind of person he aspires to be/has become...somewhat.
I understand what you mean about some abilities fitting some characters more than others. Still, however, I feel War Cry is useful for any build of warrior, because it's saved my party multiple times.
Before my current setup (Iron bull as tank, Vivienne as Support, and Cole) I ran with Cassandra as my tank, Bull as my damager, and Solas as my support mage, only briefly. During that period of the game I built Bull up with a few tanking abilities in Vanguard, and this resulted in enemies bouncing between Cass and Bull, nibbling at one's guard while the other recovered, with me and Solas pewpewing away as they did so. It worked surprisingly well with groups of enemies, but... less so on bosses. It's one of the reasons I altered my party, especially now that dragons are starting to crop up here and there.
My point is that War Cry is worth taking on any and all warriors, IMO.
What's everyone's favourite build for Bull?
I wish you could set tactics as completely as you could in the previous DA's. The whole choice being nothing but >defend >pick a character, or >follow, >pick a character, just seems really basic and not very helpful at all.
I usually set set Bull to attack what my characters attacking, and then be mindful to remember to attack things that are ganking my squishies so that he will pick them up too. Seems to work pretty decent!
I really want to read the interviews, but when I started through them I realized how spoilerific it is, and I haven't finished the game yet so I will wait until later to watch, haha.
I totally agree about that ending though. I'll never hurt the Chargers. Yes, it throws Bull into a crisis of faith. But I feel like having his people, the Chargers and the Inquisitor, is enough to make him realize things aren't so bad away from the Qun. :3
ALSO.
IT IS DONE.
I wrote way too much filthy Iron Bull smut. But. IT WAS SO FUN.
I wrote this. It's a very kinky and NSFW continuation of this. Which wasn't near as kinky and totally safe for work. They should probably be read in order but it's not like it really matters.
It's Male Mage Lavellan x Iron Bull. Takes place right after Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts. It's my take on the dance afterwards.
I just want to re-emphasize, LOTS OF NOT SAFE FOR WORK in the first one. Hnngh. ♥ Also all kinds of sloppy writing because I really didn't edit much because I want to play the gameeeee againnnnnn.
Now that that monkey is off my back, I can hopefully actually keep playing the game again. Hope you guys enjoy my dirty offerings to the Iron Bull shrine!
