If it makes you feel any better I only got to the character creator last night. I'm torn on what class & spec to play.Welp, I got a bunch of writing done, but I didn't get to play the game at all tonight. *shakes fist* This stupid sleep thing I need to be able to work in the mornings, it's terrible and gets in the way of all my fun. :<

Argh, stupid hotfix making the game unplayable due to lag. The screen actually gives me motion sickness now because of the rocking pauses.
I was so looking forward to recruiting Bull.

If I went mage Knight Enchanter would be the only spec for me. I pretty much have the build I would use memorized. If I went rogue assassin is the spec for me & I would drag Varric with me everywhere around starting mid game. But this damn 2H champion build is turning me on! I'm so torn.Go mage and be a Marshmallow, you know you wanna! P:
Honestly I'm also tempted to replay DA:O. I don't know what to do lol.

KE Mage is fun, I went tempest rogue on my Dorimance playthrough (unfinished), and those are the only spec's I have tried so far. For KE I use a heavy fire-tree/KE build, with a few skills from the other trees, and it works very nicely in a game-breakingly-overpowered kind of way.
I want to replay the older DA's too, but I will never have time to do that any time soon, *and* write, *and* finish my Inquisition playthrough, haha. Someday, right? Somedayyy.

I've read in the wiki that if Iron Bull was in your party during Into the Abyss, you get a cutscene with him when you get back to Skyhold.
That cutscene where you literally beat fear out of him with a stick was priceless.
Oh, and the last bit of dialogue...
" Inquisitor: I didn't know you liked it rough.
The Iron Bull: Only from you, boss. Only from you."
On another note, there was an interesting line today. I'm romancing Bull as a lady qunari, and when she asked him about Krem he said "Look, we both have to be careful not to damage furniture or elves when we walk. We're not in a position to decide what's normal."
I love how this game is always aware of race.

I knew he would get a major Fade boner as well as provide insight.
Oh, and the party banter between the two over Bull hating being there and Solas loving it was great.

I usually run Dorian/Iron Bull/Cole. I'm considering switching Sera for Cole just because I like Tempest, but I don't know if I'll actually be able to do it or not. >.>
My squirrely little spirit child has a special place in my heart. Right now I'm using Solas as I don't have Dorian yet, and him and Bull arguing about the Qun is amusing.
I decided to write a scene where Lavellan and Bull talk about how mages should be handled, and I think I got some inspiration from Solas bashing the qun for how Lavellan condemns the Saarebas.
Of course, he's far more respectful about it than Solas is. And at the end, Bull just says something like "So you won't be copying the Qun, I think every mage in southern Thedas just breathed a heavy sigh of relief."
It was really a lot of fun to write, though. I enjoy entertaining the idea of Bull taking on the role of an semi-Arvaarad, but I'm not really sure how to work it into my head-canon because I still know so little about them. I could see my Lavellan creating some kind of kill-switch to give to Bull, though. Like the devices an Arvaarad use. Just so he can sleep easy at night that if he ever got possessed somehow, he'd have someone out there with the power to stop him. And Bull pretty much shitting himself at the responsibility. >_>

The Arvaarad are pretty much handlers. I don't think there is much to their job outside keeping the mage in line (which isn't that difficult from what little we seen). The whole Bull being the inquisitor's handler is a little unnerving. In bed it sounds hot as hell but outside the bedroom not so much. Maybe you're fic will change my mind.I usually run Dorian/Iron Bull/Cole. From what I've been able to read on them, they basically just 'hold the leash', which in the case of an actual Saarebas is quite literal. Definitely could have very kinky connotations, but I don't think that would be the way Lavellan would see it, despite the fact it could be hot. xD They are basically the qunari equivalent of templars, though.
I'm still not sure how I'd want to do it. But the way I see it, the Arvaarad usually have some kind of device to lock down a Saarebas under their control. I think Lavellan would try and find a way to mimic that. The Inquisitor is pretty much above any institution designed to control mages, though. So I think at a certain point he'd just be concerned that he will become a target because of that. So having a sort of fall-back, a "If I get possessed, neutralize me" type scenario.
I can't imagine Bull being particularly thrilled by the idea, but he'd probably do it in order to set the Inquisitor's mind at ease. But I don't imagine it resembling the Saarebas/Arvaarad relationship too closely, other than the your own personal templar thing.
Spoiler for an excerpt of what I'm working on, just because I'd love opinions on if I'm sounding like an idiot writing this or not. Also opinions on how Bull would handle all this so I could keep him in character best I can. (I really wish there was more in game where he could comment on his views on a mage inquisitor. ._.)

Pity that Bull isn't a bit more knowledgeable about Saarebas but it makes since because it was simply not his job. The Qun seem to keep everyone's roles rather...simple. Unless you are in a position of power you pretty much refer to your instruction manual to guide you. Being in a relationship with a mage would probably change the big guys perspective on mages a bit. When I first read the passage I was surprised at how Bull didn't defend the Qun but I'm sure this story is most likely way after Haven where Bull seemed more willing to correct you, at least with my Qunari anyway. This will be an interesting twist on things so I can't wait to see what you do with it.From what I've been able to read on them, they basically just 'hold the leash', which in the case of an actual Saarebas is quite literal. The way Bull described the Qun when you asked him about it is, most qunari just understand enough of the Qun to get by. He probably would have more knowledge than most, but with his distaste of magic and that type of thing, I don't know, really. He probably would have never really considered the plight of a Saarebas any more than "Welp, sucks to be that guy." because he was focused on other things? Idunno.
And yeah, this is late-game, perhaps after arbor wilds, and a Tal-Vashoth Iron Bull. I don't really know how he would defend it to Lavellan at this point. I might strengthen the "This is all they've known, this is how they serve and they find purpose and fulfillment in that." argument, but just my personal failings prevent me from really seeing a defensible argument that Bull could have to try and change Lavellan's mind. xD Lavellan goes on to basically point out that the circle/templar relationship and even the Dalish have just as many problems, so at least he's pretty fair about thinking everyone is screwing it up, not just the Qun. (He also admits he doesn't have a frickin clue how to fix it.)
I should just stick to the porn. >_>;

The game played beautifully for me at release, and every patch and hotfix has made things difficult until the next update. It is intensely frustrating.
Like seriously, stop making me fix what isn't broken! I should be able to deny updates.
