Hey, I'm considering trying Iron Bull's romance.  How do I go about initiating it?  Just flirt with him a lot?

Flirt, conscript the mages or ally with the templars (though neither is necessary), take him to kill dragons, I think you gain approval when you win horse races...

 

He's pretty easy. Best romance is if you save the Chargers, imo. I always get approval when I take him to help the refugees in the Hinterlands, and usually when recruiting agents. Also, killing Venatori. The most important flirt I think is right after his personal mission. He'll act pretty oblivious to all the others. Oh, and arming and exiling the goat thrower to Tevinter gets a lot of approval.

 

You need more, just ask. I think most of us in here have it down to a science.

Ok, awesome!  Heh, I was going to go for the Cullen romance again, but I kind of want to try something new this time.  My pro-Circle/pro-Chantry/super-Andrastian human mage is still in Haven so I'm guessing it will be awhile before anything happens.  I think they'd make an interesting couple

Iron Bull-romance is slow and I was a bit worried it was bugged. For the longest time I did not get any dialogue with him in Skyhold, but after advancing main quest it kicked in, and then I recorded like half an hour at one sitting.

 

Flirt with him, always. Take him to kill Venatori with you. You can side mages and be mage, it will not disturb the romance, or at least I didn't notice anything, and I'm always pro-mage (everything else would be physically impossible for me). Kill dragon and take him with you, and if you want to get whole romance you have to so you get the dragon tooth. In his personal quest I saved Chargers, and I think it is better to do so, though you don't have to, you will not loose the romance if you let Chargers die but I thought it would be too sad to do so. Iron Bull was then a happy and sexually satisfied Tal-Vashoth, lol. Others I did not pay much attention in his approval in how I chose things, I was just myself, and when the romance really started it went like a train. There is just a veeeeeery long time when nothing happens. Might depend in what order you do main quest too, because looks like people are not even sure what triggers his personal quest. Just remember to check him in Skyhold pub.

Ok, its settled!. Today I am starting a new char. This time I´ll try a dwarf and I´ll try my best to make him like Oghren from DA 1. But I am not sure If I´ll be able to acomplish that xD. I am also curious about dwarf-quinari romance I expect some mercy from IB (or maybe not, since he is reaver lol)

Thanks to everyone for the kind words about my first AO3 post!
The first post was the hardest to get out there but I'm happy it's done now & I'm appreciative of everyone here who helped calm my nerves. I have a long weekend coming up so I'll probably start [and hopefully post] some more then. Cadash/Bull deserve more stories.

In other news, I helped my brother start a Qunari warrior playthrough tonight. I so wanted to steer him towards Bull to romance but once I saw Bull and Kratos in action I knew they were destined for a ridiculously awesome bromance instead. They seriously looked like two brothers who goof off and kick butt together. It was so hilarious!

Thank you! Making a male-qunari was given when I decided to do Iron Bull-romance too, and I had a specific reason: I always felt really bad for Saarebas in DA2. Making a free qunari-mage and playing him was something I appreciated (and there are few things in this game that I really appreciate, unfortunately). He might look a bit too "human" but horns are not my taste, and I thought he could be a bit "tame" as he has grown up among humans. This is only one of my romances that I have  hesitated to do, but it was really worth it. I found myself liking it very much. It is not fluffy, but it is fun and deep at the same time. Qunari-male fitted in this romance like a glowe, I tell ya!

Yeah, my first playthrough I romanced IB, so it took me forever to finally get him(I ended up making all the choices he disapproves of). Unfortunately it threw my perception of the romance off, considering I had to listen to him flirt with everyone but me (jerk  ). Second time around though, muuuuch better experience.

I find that the biggest help with him is having Iron Bull in your party when you do all the Hinterland quests. He approves of pretty much everything you can possibly do in the Hinterlands, so if you clear that zone out with him you'll basically have enough approval right there to trigger the romance as soon as you get to Skyhold.

Yep. I basically close what rifts I can and fill requisitions until I have enough power to open up the Storm Coast and recruit him. Then go back and do the Hinterlands with him in the party. Even after allying with the mages, I usually get his personal quest right after getting to Skyhold.

Now I finally understand. When he says

"listen I´ve got all the hints, I know what you are saying..."

 This means he totally enjoyed the show when Quizzy...rode the horses.. and did the races, so its no surprise his approval increased´lol. At first I had no idea what was he talking about, but now I see the piece fits perfectly in the puzzle ;D

 

As for my Oghren dwarf attempt....Its not good. In first place I cant choose a red colour for the hair lol. I dont understand, I mean... Bioware why can´t I select a plain red color: there is white, black, brown etc but no red at all xd. I reckon is simple enough lol. I am also missing more customization options (I know, I know there´s plenty but not enough for the task haha) like more beard types, the one for Oghren is not there xd. Have anyone tried and wanna share?

I think the more fancy customization options are still out of reach to the modders.Texture and model replacesments are doable, but actually adding stuff to character creation's menu isn't something I've seen yet. D: Oghren's assets aren't in the new frostbite engine, so it'll be a while before we'll be able to start doing things like that I think. (If it becomes possible at all.)

 

I think some of the hints that you want to ride the bull are your Inquisitor blatantly flirting with him, too. xD I had hit every heart in every conversation I ever had with him, and every time it just bounces off like nothing. And then he pounces you in your room being all "I've caught the hints" and you're like...You bastard you were just playing dumb. D:< Testing the inquisitor and figuring out if it was just playful flirting or if Quizzy actually wanted to uh...lock horns so to speak. ♥

I keep working in a very specific scene. In addition to share it with all you, I want you guys to give me your honest opinion.

Ok, the core idea I am looking for is just that. I am 99% sure that is the tricky angle I need. However, I encounter 2 obstacles or maybe 3 (Geez, half closed eye in Bull xd): 

 

1. A very limited amount of time. Or to put it simply, I have like 5 secs till screen goes pitch black and Quizzy appears alone in the room.

2. Bull´s Hands. They are just so huge!! I didn´t pay attention to that, but I can´t just remove it xD.

 

I am so keen on this scene, that I can´t stop trying. It´s me or Bull is about to slap Quizzy xD? Dont hesitate to give your viewpoint. Any basic advice is also welcome  since I admit I am kinda newbie at making photos lol.

 

Another point to discuss. You know guys how much IB loves taarsidath-an halsaam-ing   Last night (after reading again xD, Eggplantred´s story) I wondered if Quizzy would have what takes to satisfy "all" IB needs. Do you guys think that after completing Tough Love he would taarsidath-an halsaam himself more, less or the same? I mean Quizzy cant turn into a dragon but still...... this made me think..Now I am not sure if as a present I should take IB to Dragon Hunting or just wipe them off in secret....Or perhaps I can reach to an agreement with IB...

I think it's quite a sexy screenshot! Iron Bull's model really does have huge hands, but his proportions in general are a little funky and there's not much we can really do about that. Still, I absolutely love that frame from that scene, I'm very tempted to go and try to catch that with my elf now! Very well done Mengor!

 

Personally I head cannon that every night after a dragon hunt there's need for uh...some private time. Just to give Iron Bull a little bit of time to get himself calm enough to not hurt his Kadan. You see how enthusiastic in the drinking cut scene after the first dragon kill, and that's after they get back to Skyhold not even necessarily the first night after the kill, haha.

 

In a completely non sexual way, I see Iron Bull practically skipping the whole way back to Skyhold after killing a dragon, LOL. The happiest boy in the world once he's gotten to kill a dragon. ♥

As for my dwarf-quinari romance. Everything is good so far (if we omit the neckache), but I find hilarious that Quizzy keeps looking up to him all the time. And when you choose the option to kiss him, in the cutscene IB has to bend a little to make kissing possible haha.
