People on Tumblr are being mean and posting their "And then Iron Bull turned out to be actually just that good of a Ben-Hassrath agent and was just a sleeper-agent in the Inquisition the whole time!" head cannons, and it's making that evil evil plot bunny I had a while back come up again. AND SWEET'S QUNSHIT STORYBOARD DIDNT HELP EITHER.
Yeeees, YES! LET THE EVIL FLOW IN YOU!

(and I love how people are using my joke title as if it was the real thing omg)
And that headcanon is interesting but I don't see it working if he is already declared Tal-Vashoth for real. Because by that point, that choice he (or the Quizzy made so to speak, but he WANTED to save his men so he made up his mind, it was his/her choice to agree with Bull's) made shows he rather be The Iron Bull than Hissrad. He hated his role under the Qun, and snapped in Seharon for whatever reason it may be. I have a feeling it has something to do with kids being how much seeing such things with little children not even in their teens lying on the ground dead shows he has a soft spot for them and NO ONE SHOULD HURT A CHILD OR UNCLE BULL IS GOING TO RIP YOUR ASS APART.
This is a headcanon I like a lot: Bull was sent up to kill a group of Tal-Vashoth who had children with them. However, these weren't your 'salvage' tal-vashoths. These were normal Qunari only that they were trying to live away from the Qun and follow their own path, raising there own family and falling in love. However, he had his orders and as much as he felt conflicted and confused, he didn't flinch. He struck all the adults down and kept the children alive, ordered to gather them up to be sent to Pal Vollen. All of them were either crying, calling out 'mom' and/or 'dad' asking them to wake up and the men Hissrad was with grabbed them away and rounded them up to him, it felt wrong. Seeing them unhappy, calling out to the Tal-vashoth that were like their parents. And he killed them. And when he woked up the next day, he couldn't think of a damn reason to keep doing his job. So he turned himself in and they ordered him to go to mainland Thedas and play Merc as a spy.
To me, Bull is bound to crack again if he stays with the Qun. He questions it too much and with such a strong mind; they'll have to really try hard to make him behave without forcing their hands on using Qmamk. And the more he keeps sending himself to the Re-educators, the more they're going to be like 'this tool is no longer useful to us' and well...you can see where this is going. And while yes, I do see if they ask him to do something he'll not be happy with (being at this point, all that's left is Hissrad and the Qun), he'll do it. It'll hurt him, but he'll do it. But with the guilt piling up over more guilt; it'll be too much and he'll lose himself under stress.
If they asked him to kill the Inquisitor and HE was in a relationship with them (I do believe those feelings he has for him/her we're real), he'll do what the 'Qun demands' of him but it'll kill him inside (I can hear him saying quietly that "I'm sorry" before or after killing them and falling down on his knees once it's done) because one of the most important things to him that he had left, is now gone. And even worse, by his own hands.
(And I hope I made you all sad. It's my job after all)
But if he chose his men over the Qun and the Qunari said "Hey, you want to be Qunari again, do this!" He'll be like "nah I'm good" And then rides off on a battlenug with his Tal-Vashoth Seerbas girlfriend while both flipping them off to get some food! Um...I was going somewhere with this, right?
But yet again, even for a spy, he never seemed to lie to the Inquisitor. He his romance path if he sticks with the Qun he seems honest. Yes, you could say he's that damn good of spy, which he is, but I feel he doesn't like to unless has to. Grated, when the time comes, he'll likely do what he has to. But still, he's...pretty open for someone undercover.
I have to wonder, why is Bull so submissive towards Vivienne?
She's his mother that's way.
Also: The meat thing. Looks like little!Bull was also a little !s**t. Love it.
