Yeah, I think if he has claws, he keeps them pretty blunt, and they look suspiciously like regular fingernails.  Though I admit, I liked the idea of qunari having claws in DA2. Then again, we weren't able to romance a qunari in DA2, so maybe it's for the best?

OAN, the boxers or briefs thread really got me to thinking about DAI companions choice in underwear and other choices they'd make. My thoughts have ventured off to some weird places lately

I confess, the one with Adaar being tied is... appealing, and I love the massage one. 

 

I don't mind tasteful nudity, but I've seen some pretty hardcore fanart, and while I don't mind that sort of thing, I don't think I could ever share something like that even if I ever worked up the nerve to do it myself.

 

And I don't really mean Adaar when I say requests. I'd love to try something with the other quizzies on here. Especially the ones featured in fic.

The boots...bother me. Qunari fashion would seem to be based on function and practicality, and pointy boots have none that I can see. Maybe they're based on Seheron's style of clothing? Or Rivain. Maybe they just look so ridiculous that it adds to the 'dull-witted brute' image he's been using to spy?

 

Or maybe he just likes them. He wants a sword made of dawnstone after all, because it's pretty (despite it being extremely brittle and so impractical) so Bull's sense of fashion really shouldn't be all that surprising.

Just my two bits on the claw thing...Qunari we see in DA2 are ask antaam and the like --they have their own swords and their own objects and don't have to adapt to human surroundings.

Bull is a spy, and tells Varric he uses whatever tool for the job. Grabbing a human sized hilt with claws is a great way to shred your own palms. Plus Bull has to blend in and make people trust him etc, which is harder to do with claws.

I use this head canon to protest the retcon, but I have yet to come up with anything on the black scleras that qunari had in DA2.

Bull would definitely have vested interest in keeping his nails blunted so he could use them creatively in bed too though I'm sure, but I like giving him a Qun!Approved answer too. xD

I really think it's this. Besides, the pointy elf boots just work for him in ways I don't care to examine too closely lmao. They're like his pants, they're just... very Iron Bull.

Ahh, this makes a lot of sense, actually! I mean, presumably it's just safer to forego the claws for... a multitude of reasons. Blending in, self-injury, general safety...

I'm glad you brought up the sclera thing, because I was playing DA2 last night and you know that Tal-Vashoth early on in the Blackpowder quest (the one who asks you to kill all his comrades)? That guy has white sclera instead of black! Maybe it's a genetics thing, like pupil color? Or... a Tal-Vashoth conspiracy?

If you check the Arishok picture and super zoom (like 500%) you can see he has white in his scleras. Because of his white eye-color and dark coloring around the eyes the sclera looks black from a distance. Same with the trailer and concept art version.  _{And then I put the eye on a white background the sclera became gray. Sneaky Arishok.}

Same if you zoom in on the male and female Qunari concept art or get real close and cozy with the posing Qunari in the compound. 

But if the Qunari are serious about their breeding, they'd probably notice different traits in the Qunari born and if they were beneficial they would attempt to breed them so it would be more common in the gene-pool. Maybe that's the reason why there are so many horn types and why the DA2 qunari have more than one set of horns.

And now since  I doubt I'll get much chance to use the word again: sclera, sclera, sclera, sclera. Where I come from we call them eyewhites.

The boots are perfect when you kick under the enemies bottoms. The curve keeps them on the boot a bit longer so they lift up in the kick and when Bull has perfected that technique (or found a reliable hammer partner) he can smash them with his hammer, sending them flying off into the distance.  They'll be so numb from the pain they can't react, giving Bull ample time to use his grappling hook to pull them back into the fray. And their companions will be so confused that they'll be sitting ducks for the rest of the party. 

Result: Ultimate mayhem on the battlefield. 

And his pants are awesome. They are like striped treasure chest, filled with goodies for well behaved inquisitors. (And perfect for hiding loot from those fancy orlesian parties.) 

 

Also the What Lies Beneath link works for me. It was a nice read (well as nice as such reads can be).

Yeah I...was always confused with DA2 qunari, because some most definitely have the black scleras:

But if others have white scleras, and Iron Bull and Katari and the other qunari in the game (I haven't seen any others in Skyhold because I never side with the Qun on Bull's personal quest, haha.) I like the idea that it's just a some people have it some people don't think, like the different horns adding variety to the qunari. I can fully accept that and be happy.

 

I do quite like the idea of Iron Bull sitting and trimming his nails while his lover lays across his lap. Casual domesticity. ♥

 

I like the idea that those are his ass kicking boots. >:3 What better use for them could there possibly be?
