Poor Dorian. Just ... poor Dorian. I wonder if his epilogue card is any different at all, but holy **** I don't imagine him getting over that kind of betrayal....ever. I saw a regular video of his betrayal and didn't really feel anything because it's something I could expect....I watched this and legitimately cried, it literally pained me. I can understand how he would betray the inquisitor who sacrificed the chargers but to betray Dorian like that? Dorian and bull are my biggest bros and I love them together, plus with me being a solasmancer; I just don't think I would've been able to to finish the DLC.

Sweeteaholic, and everyone. Many of you have completed the DLC and so I did. Why don´t we talk about what do we think we´ll see in the next DA? I know the DLC has only 72 hours or less of life only out there and its too soon but I can´t wait to read you theroies (specially Sweeteaholic´s one...hehe :3) i shall begin:

 

According to the end I am guessing everything or almost everything will take place in Tevinter? That means... There is a 99% chance for Dorian to be there, or

that´s how I see it. Let´s continue, in the last cutscene they keep mentioning to

Sera and Varric. Hell no. Please Bioware feel free to create new replacements xD: Varric deserves a good rest and also Sera does.

 

Solas definitely will be there...and we know why xd. He will be like the most important character in the next DA.

 

As for Cassandra, man who knows. It seems like she will stick to Quizzy and Leliana but there´s nothing sure. I don´t have any idea about Cole. Maybe some of you know more but I haven´t covered his story that much. But he doesn´t seem to have much impact in the story...

 

Now this is it! How about Iron Bull? I find two different erm...theroies?

 

He could appear in the next one beacuse of the following reasons:

 

1.

in the last cutscene he appears next to Quizzy. He doesn´t say anything but he is there.

Maybe BW is telling us something? 

2. If they decide to add Dorian in the next DA, Iron Bull would combo greatly adding Adoribull fluff and other stuff perhaps.

3. Maybe they could decide to insert the chargers again and also Iron Bull that is.

4. Another option could be to set Iron Bull as a playable but not romanceable char like the case of Viv...maybe. But if you can´t romance him...that would suck xD.

5. Or they might do it just like they did with Leliana: she was a romanceable char in DA1 and also in Inquisition. So why not?

 

Reasons they may not include Bull in the next one:

 

1. They just want to use other characters

2. Maybe they desire to give more importance to the chargers and in the next DA they become romanceable chars instead of Iron Bull maybe?

3. It depends on how they want to develop the next part of the history. Maybe the encounter with Iron Bull could just not be let´s say viable?

 

But...if they allow us to import all our decisions we could see him there For me it´s like a 50/50 chances to be there xD.

I found the romanced version of this on Tumblr, and Ill find it again tommorow and post it because as ****** painful as this is for me to look at, it's even worse when romanced.

 

The good news is I wrote an entirely fluffy and happy OT3 Iron Bull/Dorian/m!Lavellan story tonight to deal with all my big fluffy feels about how amazing I think OT3 works out thanks to Trespasser, so no amount of sad endings can get me down! If you're referring to anything Bull related though: none at the moment being no matter where you took his character arc; I think they did all they could in terms of character development.

If he sticks with the Qun; he's dead because you had to kill him and no one trusts Tal Vashoth in the south. But if his Charges are alive and kicking (along you do his personal mission being I heard that he still betrays you if you didn't do it); he finally comes to terms with being Tal Vashoth (giving the best F you ever to that Qun lady. I forget what she's called right now) and Krem and co still do merc work around Thedas and he may even have an relationship with the Inquisitor or Dorian. I can't really think of what else you can do more with him being I think they wrapped it all nice in a bow (one nicer than the other obviously but still).

 

Only thing I wish for his character is happiness; which he desrives (unless you killed the Chargers. Then yeah, screw you) after the hell he's been though.

 

That's not saying I wouldn't want to see Iron Bull come back again in some shape or form (like a cameo or something). And being it seems like the Inquisitor is going to play some form of role in DA4 (They and Solas are connected to each other and they did live in the end swearing to either redeem/kill Solas); part of me kinda wants to see Bull by my canon's Inquisitor's side when she goes up to Tevinter due to CLIFFHANGER YEAH!!. Otherwise, heh

Something that's struck me hard about Iron Bull betraying you is that he didn't do it until he was directly ordered. He knew, but he didn't harm the inquisitor in any way even though he had ample time to do it. They had just killed their way through so many qunari, Iron Bull knows what the Inquisitor is capable of... If he wanted to kill the Inquisitor he could have done it, and done it in a way that he knew wouldn't end with his death.

I don't think Iron Bull thought for a second he'd win that fight. But he had nothing but the Qun at that point, and the power of the Qun is so strong that when he's ordered to die, he does it instantly and without regrets.

Hissrad wasn't a bad person. Hissrad in wot2 was a man torn apart by wanting to do good as a qunari and wanting to be good at being a qunari, the only thing he knows.

In demands of the Qun, he's caught between what he wants to do, and what he has to do, and its on such a razors edge the Inquisitor makes the call. If you sacrifice the chargers, Hissrad is reeducated on the spot that there is only certainty in the Qun.

I really can't hate Qun! Iron Bull because he was never given a chance to be anything other than what he was. Talvashoth Iron Bull is proof that the first chance he was given to be something good, he ran with it and never looked back.

Basically, if Bull turns on you it's because you never gave him a chance to be anything better.

So guys. I have a qunari mage in the oven whose mindset meshes really well with a dom/sub dynamic (humorous and easy going on the surface but beneath that he ha an intense and sincere desire to just 'make things okay' and he feels failure keenly since it has a tangible cost in human lives, he does what needs doing [which occasionally involves some deeply dubious things] because it NEEDS doing but it hurts him. aaaannyyywaaay) but.

Some of the things in the DLC discomfit me. Caveat: I have never and will never sacrifice the Chargers. From a moral standpoint its pretty reprehensible and from a logical standpoint an alliance with the qunari is of dubious value to start with (a feeling only ratified by what took place in this DLC). I also haven't played the DLC yet (sooooon). This is going to be rambly but primarily I want insight since ya'll know Bull better than I do.

 

I think the primary thing that's making me feel a little weird is the fact that there is absolutely no overt difference in the way Bull treats you or Dorian up until that betrayal. No difference in behavior, or voice inflection or ominous foreshadowing. That I know of. It's like a switch. And I get that that's the ENTIRE point behind being a good qunari but I suppose a part of me is wondering how much of that is indoctrination and how much is Bull's natural predisposition?

 

For instance, knowing what we do now, what would be going on in Hissrad's mind when he starts a relationship with the Inquisitor vs what's going on in Iron Bull's? How and where do the two co-align? Would Hissrad be doing this because he sees the tie to the Inquisitor for future use? Or is he doing it because he has no orders not  to and would just feel nothing when ordered to kill him? Is the affection faked in Hissrad's case or genuine in both but indoctrination just makes all such consideration irrelevant? Up until the Qun quest he calls you boos right? Is part of him mocking you [Nothing personal... bas]? I can see how both Bull and Hissrad would start a relationship cuz they see what the Inquisitor 'needs' and then as it continues it delineates, Hissrad needs the Inquisitor to be at their best because that happens to be in the best (current) interest of the Qun and Bull actually starts forming real feels because he can/is 'allowed' to now. Is that a fair conclusion to reach?

Ouch...you have a point...If you put it like that, yes, maybe BW shouldn´t use Iron Bull anymore. I also hope he could live the rest of his life peacefully as Tal-Vashoth along with the chargers but once again I would miss him a lot :S, I know I am getting kinda selfsih but... I guess it can´t be helped it :I

I'm really not sure how BW is going to handle the protagonist for the next game (assuming there is one, of course.) My quizzy promised to save Solas from himself, and I would really like to see that happen, but it would seem like that would require the inquisitor to have a pretty significant role. On the other hand, BW has always used a new protagonist for each game, so I'm not sure how that would work. Considering the level of personal history involved, it seems like there has to at least be come cameo appearances, but it would have to be handled carefully. I would be disappointed if there wasn't some kind of closure with the quizzy as far as Solas is concerned. They were friends, and as far as she's concerned, that hasn't changed.

 

As for Bull, if the inquisitor is featured in the next game, I'd love to see him again, even if it's just a little update on how they're doing. Unless the quizzy mysteriously disappears between now and then, of course The only way I would want Bull romanceable again would be if they brought the quizzy back as the protagonist, like in the mass effect series or something.

Yeah, it´s not like Iron Bull won´t see his/her Kadan ever again, these visits every now and then would do just fine with me too  . Not sure how Bull would fit into the next game, to be honest. He can be killed, so I'm only expecting a small cameo (I could imagine Dorian becoming an important character like an advisor, though (I'm wishing for Archon Pavus). Just imagine, you're going to Dorian's office or something like that, the door opens and Bull goes past your character without saying anything. Then Dorian mentions he's an old friend or even his boyfriend and that's it ). I really think he's only going to be mentioned in a conversation, if at all unfortunately.

Honestly, as much as we might want to start distrusting everything Iron Bull did before the game started and what his motivations were, he was still very straight forward about them from the start. He told you he was Ben-Hassrath. He told you he was being sent to join the Inquisition to keep an eye on the situation and send messages back, as he had been for years. Thanks to Meta, we know from World of Thedas V2's excerpts that his letters back were a lifeline for him, while he fell deeper and deeper into his Tal-Vashoth role. The Iron Bull you recruit is straying from the Qun, so the man we kill Corypheus with is Qunari, yes, but he was there because he wanted to help like he's always wanted to help, and the whole 'i hope i've made it easier for you' is definitely in his character as a qunari.

 

Even with the Chargers dead, I really don't think Iron Bull was conspiring against you, like I said in a previous post, if he had betrayed you or tried to attack you in private, etc, then it would lend more creedance to that. I just think that after 2 years back with the Qun, all of those doubts and ....flaws in his qunari persona we were polished off. All of the **** he was struggling with from Seheron, his Tal-vashoth persona, etc, was all removed. He went back to Par Vollen and he no longer had to pretend that he was a Mercenary or Tal Vashoth, he went back to being full Qunari for however long, possibly with re-education on the table, we don't know. He saw Southern Thedas fall apart and how much help it needed as the main game went on, returning to Par Vollen and having absolute certainty and structure must have been a huge relief on his mental state.

 

I think when he got his orders, whenever it was, to betray the Inquisitor, he came to terms with it quickly, locked his **** down like a good qunari should, and did his duty. We know that "love" isn't a qun thing, and even if he had managed to foster some of it the Qun would not have allowed that. He kept up the charade, kept living the hollow life of his persona, but what was really driving him at that point was now the Qun, where as Tal Vashoth Iron Bull is driven by love of those around him and loyalty to them.

 

I honestly think he went into that room knowing his orders were a suicide mission, and because of the Qun was at total peace with that. He made the bas comment and the little challenging gesture to bait the Inquisitor, and chances are? It was to make sure that the Inquisitor did the job right.

 

Hissrad the qunari wasn't a bad person, he really wasn't, we know that from Meta and world of thedas. It just shows how terrifyingly strong that line of the Qun is, especially to someone who was born and raised under it and never knew any different. For me it really solidified that as much as I ****** love Qunari and the Qun, their **** is not something to romanticize or take lightly.

I think when he got his orders, whenever it was, to betray the Inquisitor, he came to terms with it quickly, locked his **** down like a good qunari should, and did his duty. We know that "love" isn't a qun thing, and even if he had managed to foster some of it the Qun would not have allowed that. He kept up the charade, kept living the hollow life of his persona, but what was really driving him at that point was now the Qun, where as Tal Vashoth Iron Bull is driven by love of those around him and loyalty to them.

 

I honestly think he went into that room knowing his orders were a suicide mission, and because of the Qun was at total peace with that. He made the bas comment and the little challenging gesture to bait the Inquisitor, and chances are? It was to make sure that the Inquisitor did the job right.

 

Hissrad the qunari wasn't a bad person, he really wasn't, we know that from Meta and world of thedas. It just shows how terrifyingly strong that line of the Qun is, especially to someone who was born and raised under it and never knew any different. For me it really solidified that as much as I ****** love Qunari and the Qun, their **** is not something to romanticize or take lightly.

I think it's just tone. The ones on  the left keep it the ones on the right discard it. So yeah you're just picking the tone in how you do it.

Ah. We have very different opinions, then. I don't dislike *any* of the companion characters, but some I like less than others, with Vivienne being the one I like least. She comes across as a condescending hypocrite with a superiority complex. As with Dorian, I see her attitude as a way to mask some very deep-seated insecurities.
