Hello thread! It's been a long time since I stopped in here. Been lurking forever. Good to see most folks were good with the Trespasser DLC for the most part.

 

I enjoyed the romance stuff we ended up with mostly. It fit Alcina and Bull to me, minus some wording but that's my headcanon and not BW's issue.

 

I wish there had been more but I always want more Bull and more romantic content with Bull.

I have the feeling that most of you guys resign with few content. And Eggplantred stated something which I think it´s wrong and worth discussing. Why do you guys defend BW like that? It´s good for them to know the things they make wrong, so they can improve, and I still think they could have done more since we are talking about an important DLC about the "end of the Inquisition" and many other things happen. The soul, the charm they poured in the main game, I didn´t see that in the DLC (even if DLCs tend to have few content because after all they are DLCs for a reason...)

 

I reckon headcannons are not a valid excuse for them to remove importance and effort. Just because we CAN and we HAVE the ability to headcannon whatever we want doesn´t mean they should leave details...unpolished maybe? Yes that´s the term. Let´s put an example:

 

Let´s imagine someone writes a story: and that autthor keeps wriitng like this: she made......and then he.......without names of character, places and so on. And let´s imagine you have paid I don´t know 30 dollars for that book. And then you feel that are many things unknown. Later you ask him/her through email or whatever means: Why aren´t there any names of anything in the book, and that person replies: "Oh. They aren´t necessary. You can headcannon everything" Will you pay 30 dollars? Probably not. Right?

 

Once again, it´s not about in game "I love you"s . I love you is just a general concept. One message that can be carried/writen/displayed in many many different ways. I don´t know. I think there´s dfinitely a lack of something in Trespasser. That´s my opinion.

I'll put my thoughts under spoilers regarding your issue with my statement:

So my statement about the things that are off in the DLC being related to my headcanon and not BW's issue is because they are.

1. Alcina wouldn't say 'I love you'. She has issues saying those words from an incident in her past. Yet it was in the DLC a few times. I can't expect Bioware to appease my headcanon in that aspect.
2. She wouldn't want to get officially married because it's not her style. Her previous long term relationship before Bull lasted approximately 10 years (almost 20 years if I count when her partner actually knew she was the woman for him) and they were never officially married. Yet the quizzy bring it up. I took the option because I'm not passing up content because it doesn't fit my headcanon.
3. I would have appreciated a sex scene if I'm being honest. For me, that's probably the biggest thing I was lacking. Alcina didn't get a chance to sully the Winter Palace during WEWH but she absolutely would have during Trespasser. One last hurrah before telling Orlais and Ferelden to "stuff it, she's going back to her criminal family in the Marches. Have fun with whatever BS comes up in your respective countries, you got your wish. Peace out."

Could we have used more content? Absolutely.
Should folks who wanted a wedding scene with Bull have gotten one? Absolutely.
Should folks who wanted a sex scene with Bull have gotten one? Absolutely.
Should there have been more opportunities for talk, discussion, and banter with Bull? Definitely.

But like I stated, what I received was fine. It was adequate in terms of we got any at all. Bull was more open with his feelings about quizzy which I appreciated seeing after them being together for years. He acknowledged the quizzy is the person he loves. Despite my personal issues with the LI and companion content in Trespasser (not enough, never enough; plus I'd just finished the ME Citadel DLC so I was partially tainted), what was there was okay.

Folks can and should complain that Bioware should provide more companion/LI content. You spend countless hours with your party and we still don't get suitable interaction with them beyond conversation options that we can quickly exhaust if we're eager and no chance to have repeatable interaction with them like games of Wicked Grace, having a drink together, sex with your LI, dates with your LI, and/or an actual party where everyone interacts. I'd love for them to hear our cries for more and actually do it. I doubt they will because of how the Dragon Age series is set up but it would be nice if they did.

And this was way long and rambly.

TL;DR- Bioware should have given all of the companions more content. My minor issue with Bull's romance content is genuinely due to my headcanon.

I've said before, I would have been thrilled with more content. The truth is, though, that I genuinely feel that BW did an amazing job in giving us so much with so few lines. Bull just seems more relaxed with the relationship that it was pretty telling, imo, how far it had evolved over those two years. The marriage thing was cute, and of course I clicked it, 'cause heart!, but getting married in the Chantry was not something my Vashoth quizzy was going to do. The necklace made things as official as they needed to be, and that line Bull says about you're his kadan and he makes that decision everyday was quite possibly the most romantic thing I've ever heard. (That might say something about me, but whatever, we'll go with it. )

 

A marriage scene would have been nice, especially for my human that romanced him, but again, *I* didn't think it was absolutely necessary. I feel for those that really wanted that and ended up disappointed. Then again, consider the Solas romance. I haven't finished my Solasmancer yet, so I haven't actually seen the content for him, but at least Bull didn't take your arm and run.

 

I really think the writers went with what they thought fit for each character. There's always going to be limited resources to work with, time constraints, things of that nature, that make it impossible for everyone to get exactly what they want. Not to mention, we've had these characters for 100+ hours. We've shaped them, added little details in our minds about who they are, their motivations, that BW has no way of knowing. It just isn't possible to customize a romance for every player. I accept that, and try to fill in the gaps based on what they've given us. If I could request something be fixed about the dlc, right now it would be that the insane amount of bugs, particularly in the Deep Roads section, be fixed. Seriously, have you tried climbing a ladder down there? Maddening.

 

That's just my take on it. I respect your opinion, and I'm truly sorry you were disappointed. I don't, however, feel like I'm unnecessarily defending BW, just understanding the limitations that come with the medium.

that he opens up to you and accepts to marry and all. But i suppose I found him even more open once he becomes Tal-vashoth. As for sex, I admit am the first one that would have loved a sex scene in Trespasser however the more i check the layout of the DLC, I don´t know how sex could fit as its a kind of tense situation and all. Romanticism and fluff? Sure.

Oh yes!! Finally some nice conversations with all you guys! I really was looking forward to this! Don´t worry Denise I wasn´t targeting to you. It´s the impression I got by reading little by little the comments of everybody. Anyway thanks for chiming in as well  ! Maybe I got a bit carried away and got the wrong impression. But its true I saw (in overall terms) that many players are quite satisfied. Maybe I am the one who is hard to please . I am also aware of some factors that can affect games such as deadlines, budget, management, etc. It´s just...

I finally reckon that the source of my rage began when Bull approached to Quizzy in the end and said nothing to him. Not even a single word.Nothing at all even after stabing the knife in the Tevinter map. I wonder what happened...

Freddy left and he couldn´t add anything else?
Run out of money?
Run out of time?
Run out of ideas?

We won´t discover the reason, that´s for sure. It´s a pity. I felt the emptiness there

I'll admit, I had a wtf? moment during the scene at the end. Bull is one of the first to walk away, and for a minute I was just   'where the hell does he think he's going?' But then he ends up walking right back, like he forgot where he was going or something, and it was just funny.

 

I do agree there could have been a line or two from him at the very end, but I took it as more of a 'show not tell' kind of thing. He's still there, the only one of your companions that is, actually (though I don't blame them for getting on with their lives), and he's standing on your right, so position of strength, right-hand man, that kind of thing. Probably reading waaay too much into that, but yeah. A line would have been great, but the scene as it was (and it's symbolism - intentional or not) was fine with me.

Empress Celene wasn't at the palace for the Exalted Council. Alcina would have took off with Bull to Celene's private quarters, let him tie her down and they would have destroyed her bed. Ancestors knows Alcina could have used the stress relief. It also would have been the last time he could tie her wrists up (although she wouldn't have known that at the time), but it would have been a great memory for her to make with him anyway. They could joke about that time they broke an empress' bed seeing as they'd probably never get the chance to after that.

This is probably information that most people no longer need, or might even have been shared previously, but I recently completed a game finishing with a Bull romance, and discovered that the exact amount of flirts to initiate the romance is three.

 

I have broken up with Bull in some other stories and finished with someone else, so it was never an issue before, but I hadn't flirted enough with him this time, got stuck, and had to wait until near the end to be given another flirt opportunity after completing another story mission.

 

So, aside from completing Demands of the Qun with the requisite approval, you must flirt with the Iron Bull at least three times to initiate the romance.

Well, I personally feel the story works better having more than one romance over the timeline presented. So my straight Qunari lady flirted with Cullen, but was denied. Then she flirted and got into a relationship with Blackwall. He kept pushing her away, so they broke up after finding the badge. Then there was the ill-conceived flirting with Dorian..."I enjoy the company of men." "Wait..you're going to have to explain that to me." "You led me on!" My Qunari lady was culturally human, and part of her subconscious integration was her attraction to humans. Yet, adventuring with Bull all that time, and seeing his difficulties during Demands of the Qun (and his leaving the Qun behind, in my story), she ended up in a relationship with him after all.

 

At that point, I only had the flirt after the assassination attempt, and then the dragon-slaying celebration. I should have kept one of his conversational flirts, and saved it for later.

I've been meaning to sit down and figure this out, so here goes my stab at it.

Viddasala to Qunari: Nehraa ataashi-asaara meravas adim kata!

Nehraa (for) Ataashi-asaara (dragon's breath) meravas (so shall it be) adim (they or their? Itwa-adim= they all fall, so taking a guess with this one) kata (finish, or the end) Best guess is For Dragon's Breath shall be their end!

 

Viddasala to Bull: Vinek kathas

according to the wiki, this is an order to attack or kill, could also mean seize them!

 

Solas to Viddasala: Ebasit kata. Itwas-ost

ebasit (it is) kata (the end/finish) Itwas-ost (You all fall)  It is over/finished. You all fall.

 

Viddasala to Solas: Maraas kata

Maraas (nothing) kata (end/finish) Nothing is finished!

 

Like I said, this is my best guess. Once I track down my copy of WoT2, I'll see if I can dig up more.

I asigned a skillpoint on one of the Circle´s of pain perks (Skill from Reaver spec) The one that says the circle follows you. And yes it is, but I thought the skill was suppose to deplete your stamina. Correct? I travelled from one camp to another and the circle still appears triggered. Once I boot the game later I´ll confirm this...maybe that´s how it works actually, but that would be to OP. Right?
