Why do you not like the ship?

 

Because I dislike Dorian and the dynamics in the base game skeeved me out with how Dorian treated Bull. That's been fixed in Trespasser thankfully.

 

 

That's good. I am having a harder time headcanoning anything with Bull. With Dorian it's easier because you get a lot of info about what he does and whatnot, but with Bull it's a lot more vague. Wish we had more.

 

Well there's somethings we have (like Bull being willing to marry Quizzy even though his culture isn't really for that) and the rope work cause intimacy but yeah I wanted more.

I didn't really see it that positively. My impression of Bull's romance in Trespasser is like this:

 

'Hey Bull, look over there! Sex toys!'

'ok that's cool kadan.'

'Hey bull wanna get married?'

'im not really into it but sure'

I lost the link, but I just saw on Reddit that Patrick Weekes, if given more time/money, wanted to include a scene in Bull's romance where he was kissing a blindfolded inquisitor that appeared to have their arms bound behind their back...

Yeah, I was also disappointed by the little Bull content we got in Trespasser; and the fact Adoribull had better treatment in that regard grind my beans (and not because I don't ship it, which I don't; more the fact that Dorian also got shafted when it came to romance content).

 

As for Adoribull itself: I never was a fan. It just always...rubbed me the wrong way. Both of them seem OOC and how both don't seem to respect each other (Bull going on and on about there sex life when Dorian keeps telling to stop; Dorian comparing his relationship with Bull to Feriden Beer, which pretty much means guilty pleasure). Compare to their relationships with the Inquisitor, I don't see any connection between them. 

 

Grated, they seemed to work out those issues by the time Trespasser roles around but to me the damage is done. I WANT to like this pairing, I really do being I love both characters; but as I said: they're relationship is unhealthy, debately abusive, on both sides and how OOC the two are just also pisses me off.

I know, right? That would have been amazing. I guess that's what  fan art is for.

 

On the topic of Adoribull, I've never actually seen it because I can't seem to keep anyone away from Bull long enough to let it happen, but I've read/Youtubed it. I'm not going to defend it, because that poor horse died a looong time ago, but I didn't see anything inherently wrong with it. They both give as good as they get, and it seemed to end well enough. I think the amount of focus on them in the dlc was because of the backlash the writers got for it, and they felt the need to clarify that it all worked out in the end.

Adoribull is a traditional tsundere romance that has been used in tonnes of different things. Dorian openly admits in his romance that he likes playing hard to get, we all know he has a qunari fetish and is a kinky little bastard. Iron Bull is a service dom who wants to make people happy, plays rough and tough but is an old gentle soul inside, it works. Unfortunately it seems the internet has been increasingly thin-skinned and 'I don't like this so I'll ignore it' has turned into a 'I am TRIGGERED by this and it's shameful and wrong and anyone who likes it should be ashamed!' as the normal level of entitlement gamers feel.

 

I love both characters, both of their romances, and both of them together. It's an easy sell for me. The writers did a great job with their romance and I loved every part of it in the base game and Trespasser as well.

 

Do I wish they had put more content in for Iron Bull and Dorian's romances as well? Hell yes. Thankfully Trespasser had enough mindblowing oh my god excited, it's all habbening! content that it made up for the lack of romance for me. Bioware is improving, lets compare Trespasser to the other DLC's we've gotten for this game, and suddenly the romantic content is at least headed in the right direction. Hopefully they'll run with it and improve on it in future. ♥

Bull fell into the 'Well either he's qun and will get killed or he he hasn't been romanced because everyone was romancing solas or cullen instead, so we'll just toss a few extra lines in here because there's no point sinking a whole lot of resources into it because only a small number of players will actually see it.'

 

Why you gotta hurt us like this, Patrick? Shouldn't we get extra awesomeness because we pulled Bull through so much to be with him in the end? Haha.

 

I guess compared to the Adoribull people who had to wander around Thedas for hours waiting for banter to trigger, we had it easy. >.>

Hey guys, just wanted to share a bit, but is anybody else really sad that Bull/Dorian got more romance lines than Bull and romanced inquisitor in Trespasser? I just feel like the romance (which is my favorite in the base game), got completely sidelined in the latest dlc. Just wondered if anybody else felt the same way and if the Weekes has been asked about it.

 

 

You know, funny...I've been attempting to examine my feelings regarding this since I finished Trespasser. I came out of Trespasser loving Bull tenfold although I thought that the romance felt, I dunno...neglected to a certain extent, especially in comparison to Cullen's or Sera's. Before playing the content I had heard tidbits of stuff;

there were weddings and tearful kisses and embraces and the like, and I honestly was fully prepared for something similar with Bull. In fact until the credits rolled I sat there, stupid and giddy, waiting for my Inquisitor's "binding" ceremony (or something similar) to happen. Only afterward did I go online to discover that one never actually occurs for Bull. I read that the bulk of the Bull Budget went into the surprise birthday and while that was indeed a great scene, I would have given near anything to see something a bit more heartfelt play out.

 

I kept going back to the tavern, initiating convo, biting my nails in hopeful anticipation, waiting for a heart-cramping cutscene to trigger...but nada. Zilch. 

 

But having said all that, what helped make up for all that lack of attention - for me - was the Trespasser banter. It was wonderful: Bull not only using Kadan here and there but proudly defending its use with the other companions; Bull replying to the Inquisitor's declarations of love (Love you too, Kadan.), need for his presence (Always.), and of course refusing to turn on the Inquisitor when requested by Viddasala. He returns to the Inquisitor's side after the other companions walk off into the sunset, and he's beside the Inquisitor in the final map-stabbing scene.

 

I admit I haven't seen all of the dialogue that occurs with a Dorian/Bullmance, so I could very well have been short-changed without realizing it. But honestly I came out of Trespasser with way more Bull fuzzy feels than I had with the base game because the romance felt deeper, more genuine. To me, at least. 

 

But dammit yes, I wish we had gotten more.

Yeah but it doesn't make much sense since most people don't even know about that ship because you have to intentionally be trying to get that banter. In my first playthrough where I wanted to trigger it, I had ran out of things to do and had to leave the game running to get the banter. So at the end of the day it is pretty frustrating that hard to trigger content gets more...well 'content' than Bull's inq romance.

Can anyone tell me where exactly the banter triggers when Bull says something about the whole group being back together and you get extra companion banter if Bull and Inquisitor are in a romance? 

I mean, it does trigger at a certain point, right? My last Trespasser playthrough was kinda buggy in some parts and I just want to make sure I don't miss this. Because of reasons.

Yeeeup, I definitely would have been happy with more. But I too came out of the DLC being all Ammmmmg they're so in love and everything's perfect and my Inquisitor and Iron Bull are gonna rock this **** together forever. ♥ And all kinds of good feels. I guess it would have been nicer to have been shown how much they are in love instead of being told how much they are in love. But I can deal.

 

I guess I have my imagination to make up for the lack of actual cut scenes, it works for me. >.>

 

And youaremiles, that banter trigger is waiting once you go through the first mirror area in Trespasser. :3

I only ever romance both Dorian and Bull with my Inquisitors so after I played through Trespasser for the first time with my canon Inquis (Dorian romance) I was really jealous of people that got to marry their LIs. Idk, it's just a game but I have to admit I was so damn disappointed. 
When I found out you can ask Bull about marriage but can't actually marry him... oh well! 
And I just don't understand why you can't marry him, you can mention it in the final romance scene after all. Of course the answer for this would be time and money, at least an epilog slider for this would have been nice if you actually chose the dialogue option.
