Yesterday my sister made a nice question. How are the quinari born? I really have no idea...

If there´s no marriage then I assume there aren´t mutual agreements between A and B to have children. Right? Maybe only a few tammasrans are chosen to give birth to other quinari?

The only quotation from Bull we know is: "They breed us for jobs like you breed dogs or horses" But I am not sure that has something to do with my question.

I don't know the official answer, but my theory is this:

Spoiler

But, again, that's just my theory.

That´s a pretty well explained theory actually... :P

Now... I´ve been digging for info in the wiki and found this:

Which... I find a lil sad maybe? Then again maybe mothers under the qun are just ok with that. But everything seems sorta rushed and fast... I wonder...

I am assuming that a female quinari not accepting this rule is sent in order to be "corrected" before declared Tal-vashoth or killed as well?

Bioware should make just a documental title about the qun. It would be stimulating to witness another culture... with their pros and cons of course

The lore says that one of the roles of the Tamassran is to decide who mates with who. So they find a male and a female with qualities they are looking for, and then those two are told to mate.

From the wiki:

  • Control the Qunari selective breeding program by deciding who mates[4], and if so - with whom.[1] This refers to the Qunari of all races, including humans and elves. At that, Tamassrans don't cross-breed races with other races.[5]

Parents that don't want to give up their child are "reeducated", yes. That is why Adaar's parents run away from the Qun and become Vashoth.

Now... I would like to see who were the fortunate to give life to Iron Bull.

I imagine this:

Random male muscled quinary + Blood from a Fereldan Frostback hatchling + Female quinari with hazel green eyes = Iron Bull

But:

  • At that, Tamassrans don't cross-breed races with other races.[5]

So maybe someone wanted to make some changes...? xD

I figured they were bred like dogs, the Tamassrans know who often produces what for children and, breed them according to what the Antam needs. Just like I might breed dogs for intelligence, strength, temperament, size, good mothering instinct, boldness, color, etc... Then, being bred for a specific purpose, I would raise and train those dogs to that and not much else beyond the basics they needed to get along with other dogs and people. Same thing the Qunari do.

Of course some of them are short tempered, determined, foolishly brave jerks, they were bred to bee vicious guard dogs and, trained as such. Others were trained to win obedience trials, others for agility, etc... So yes, they would tend to be more one dimensional, single minded but that's good if everyone works together.

You have a dog that's a good mother, another a good hunter, another a good guard and fighter. put them together and, you have a pack that can take good care of itself. Alone none is very good at meeting all of it's needs but, together, they work great.

As far as Qunari breeding goes- the Tamassarans decide who breeds with whom "officially", so as to produce ideal Qunari for ideal roles, but I would also assume that unplanned pregnancies do occur, and that such a pregnancy isn't considered bad or taboo. They probably just give up the child as per usual.

I would imagine that more than one "unplanned" pregnancy has occurred because the parents actually fell in love and wanted to be together. In fact, I would even assume that most unplanned pregnancies are like that in Qunari culture. I find myself attracted to the idea that my Quizzie's parents experienced love only after they were stationed in Thedas, and only after they had been introduced to the concept by non-Qun followers. I can't imagine that it would be possible for a couple to escape from the Qunari homeland together without raising suspicion- there's probably a hundred safeguards in place to make sure that such a thing doesn't happen. But escaping once they're actually in Thedas would be much easier. They're already across the sea, which is the biggest hurdle I would imagine. After that, it's just a matter of sneaking away once they're in one of the human settlements and making their way south.

Some people have a problem with being unable to choose whether they're dom or sub in their relationship with Bull.

What do guys think? Is it necessary?

Eh, I think it depends on the person. I did see their relationship as Bull being the more dominant partner, but I also headcanon that he's a lot more flexible with their 'sleeping arrangements' than he originally lets on. I see that first night as him being purposely intense to see if the Quizzie would be able to handle him when he's at his most dominant, as a way to let her know upfront everything that she gets when she gets involved with him. When I first romanced him, I was initially concerned about how he would treat the Quizzie after the romance was initiated, but he was so sweet and wonderful that all my concerns disappeared.

Like I've said before, I believe that the writers leave the particulars of the bedroom life purposely ambiguous to allow for multiple interpretations on how they go about things. It's clear that Bull enjoys tie-me-up-tie-you-down, but there's also references to he and the Quizzie just enjoying their time together, which makes it seem like it's not always that way. My interpretation is that Bull likes and prefers being in charge, but that he's got no problem letting the Quizzie take the lead whenever she wants to. After all, he's an adventurous, easy-going guy. I can't imagine him having a problem with putting variety into their love life.

It's the Battlemaster Mail. You can buy the schematic in the Black Emporium or from the Dog merchant in the Hissing Wastes. You may also get an armor or schematic of it randomly.

You know... I think the way the Chargers openly joke about how Dalish is a mage is in very bad taste.

She probably doesn't want to get dragged to the Circle. If they were better friends, they would care a little more for her safety.

It'll never happen, since The Iron Bull and the Bull's Chargers can all be dead. And it can't be a prequel since DAI is when they and the Inquisitor meet.
