i did the same thing in those games...  but after maxing out friendship/rivalry in da2 i usually went with aveline, varric, mage hawke, and merril....  if i was a warrior, i swapped merril for anders...  as for me, im thinking of going with cass, varric, dhmg, and rogue inquisitor...  replace dhmg with cole or warden if im a mage

My first squad might exclude a rogue only because i want both Cassandra and Iron Bull in my group. Iron Bull to be my fellow qunari and cassandra to be my romance option. Vivienne will be my mage, maybe ill rotate varric in once in a while once i get a feel for the game

i would like to see situations where it would be tactically wise to switch our companions around, making more use of them....  even though we can make two handed warriors into sword and board, but i would like to see it where the personal classes come into play making cass a great tank and IB only a decent tank even if the weapon classes are reversed... so even though your main tank is IB, he wouldnt be effective as cass in certain situations so it would not force, but make it wiser to use her in certain situations

I wouldn't mind this so long as all the companions would be "good enough" in their class roles to get by, even if they aren't the best. That way if you need a tank but don't like Cassandra(not something I'm in danger of, but she's got her detractors), you're not stuck with her.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to use all companions a fair bit, at least until I get a feel for them anyway. I'm looking forward to Varric's banter with well anyone, should be funny.
